Hotmail/Live/MSN Registration Issues
« on: March 12, 2011, 09:28:33 PM »
I received an email from someone trying to register that they weren't receiving an activation email to their hotmail account. This seems to affect hotmail.com, hotmail.co.uk, msn, and live accounts. I've fixed the email setting so that it looks more like it's coming from a human. I'm going to be either sending a mass activation email or going through one by one and allowing these people to come in.

If my beloved lurkers try to register in the future and do not receive the activation email (check Spam as well) send me an email at [email protected] and I will take care of it. As far as I can tell, this is the only company that blocks php emails by default yet I suffered just as much spam using their service as any other.

I apologize for any inconvenience to the folks who registered days or even weeks ago and did not know how to contact me. I'll be putting my email back up on the guide to allow really important messages to come in. Unfortunately, I can't respond to every email. As you imagine I get a lot of questions that have already been answered by the members of this forum. Maybe I should look into a pre-written email to say, "Search the Forum" :D

As of 3/14 We are activating people who did not receive the email in batches so we will see a lot of new names around.

You should now have no issue registering through Hotmail. Please let their system know it is not junk when you receive your activation email.

That explains maybe why my hotmail account is bumping with messages again from whoever have emailed me on this forum. I remember I had activated that in the past, but after a while it stopped and I was not actually missing it, but now it is working again. Maybe this has to do something with the changes you've made Carl?

Yes. Hotmail accepted the application to unblock, so there shouldn't be any issue with anything coming from the forum at this point and I can stop getting 20-30 bounced email messages in my inbox each day :)

Oh, darn. I accidentially have blocked a mail from Hosfac in my Hotmail. I hope it doesn't mean I can't receive mails from him anymore because if he's mailing, it is important (mostly spam reports).

Hosfac is sending you spam reports?

I think it's when seeing spam on the forum a member (in this case, Hosfac) clicks 'Report to Moderator'. Moderator in this case is Leto.

Thanks, but I'll wait to hear Leto's answer.

Yes, TheChronicR is right about that. Sorry if I did say this wrong. I see how my previous post could get read and I didn't mean it like Hosfac is sending me spam. He absolutely don't. It is indeed the 'Report to Moderator' button who does that.

@Leto - Can't you just find the 'Block List' and unblock him?

Sometimes, certain email adresses are blocked for no apparent reason too, at least for my Hotmail account. Leto, if this is the case, then you need to add Hosfac to your 'Safe Senders' list intead. :)

And where can I unclick the option that I don't receive messages anymore when I have received an email in this forum? I normally check out here first and than find out that I have 20 emails in Hotmail from here, just because I haven't checked in for a day or two.
I have searched in the personal settings in my profile here, but I haven't find any. Maybe I am overlooking something.

I don't recall sending you an actual e-mail.  I only remember sending you messages through here, so I would think you blocked [email protected] instead.

And I use G-Mail so I don't know much about how Hotmail works.
