Buy a Birthday Cake?

Hey guys. I noticed that at most bars, when my sim clicks on the bars, it says "buy a birthday cake", but my sim doesn't have enough money. Then, when my sims gets enough money, the cake option is gone. Anybody else notice this?

Well, to be honest, I have never gotten that option when I click on a bar.  Are you talking about a bar that you go to, like a club or a juice bar.  I know that might sound like a stupid question, but just wanted to make sure.  In any case, I have never gotten that option, strange.

A public bar, for example a sports bar.

Nope.  Never have gotten that option.  Maybe somebody else will come along and see if maybe they have.  Sorry.

I've seen that option with my "homeless" teen sim many times.  Likewise, when I could afford the cake, it's no longer there.  I've got no idea what's up with that, though.

Next: Aren't those cakes free? I thought the display was "Buy a Birthday Cake (§0) Or something like that.
Maybe the game assumes that it is a sims birthday, as the option has only come up when I hire a mixologist. Or my game is glitched.

At a bar or club, it shows up with a price tag.  However, it doesn't show up when you have the money for it.

Yes, it is very confusing, and I'm no closer to an answer than I was before.

Oh!  I've seen this.  I threw a birthday party for one of my sims at home, then had a sim with high Mixology tend the bar.  I did see the option for buying a birthday cake come up, and it was $0.  I'm assuming because it was at home and my own sim was managing the bar.

But I haven't seen the Buy Birthday Cake option any other time.  Maybe if you threw a birthday party at a venue with a bar, it'll show up.

I've seen the opportunity at the bars when my sims were just having a night out on the town.  But I've only seen it a couple of times, so it might have been a bug during those times.
