Dear Diary, Secrets of the Millham Children

Dear Diary,

 It's Klara. That is so weird to write. You know it is me. Why wouldn't it be me? I have secrets to tell you.

This is little Natan. Not so little anymore huh? He honestly hates himself. He's also my best friend. I think it's silly to hate yourself so much. I can understand though. Natan is a vampire. He struggles with his dad being his uncle and his uncle his dad. Dizzying isn't it?

Natan HATES how he is. On our birthday I am driving him to the science lab. Aunt Keelai, Mom, Dad, nobody knows that he is going to become normal!

My little brother isn't so little anymore. Roland is a teenager like the rest of us. He has been sneaking off to the science center. He is going to help us make Natan normal. Also, he covers for me when I sneak off.

I have met someone! It's Jeffery. Yes he is a Goldbeard and it's forbidden. So you mustn't tell anyone. Legend states all Goldbeards must marry Inkbeards or fear the curse. I think the entire story is just an old pirate legend. It's silly. Besides that would such a good kisser be cursed?

I've got to go. We kids have to get ready. Aunt Kairen is back. Dad says she has a surprise.

Nooottt that we kids don't know already. We've been emailing him for years. Especially Britania. We will act surprised for the adults. Grown-ups, when will they ever learn?

Kanta and I sat outside waiting on Klara to get home...again. This was the fifth time she was past curfew. We were starting to get worried about these science club meetings. Especially, since I know no school club meets until midnight. Then I turned the page in the paper to find this:

A paprazzi picture of my little girl with a boy. This wasn't just any boy..it was a Goldbeard. The source of the biggest Barnacle Bay curses. I know we had nothing to do but. Well maybe it's best to just tell the tale.

Years ago, before cinema screen tales of Blackbeard and Davy Jones became the fodder for the imagination there was the feud. Once the Inkbeards were the first mates of the mighty Goldbeard pirate crew. Escaping the most legendary and infamous they stole every treasure to be had.

One day pirates being pirates the Captain Goldbeard took his crew ashore. They were burying the latest haul from a Spanish Armada. Calyspo promised the good Captain safety for his loot. Just as long as he stayed away from the Treasure Trove of her one true love.

Unfortunately, Captain Goldbeard was an angry man and a bitter man. He was also greedy. He led his crew to the Treasure Trove. The Captain was determined to find the greatest treasure that lay within. Calyspo soon became furious.

The angry sea goddess (being spurned of her true love Davy Jones) cursed the entire crew. None shall ever find true love. They will run away from fate for 280 generations. Any children borne of true love will immediately meet the watery grave of the sea.

Crazy, I know. I am her Daddy. I am bound to protect her from all forms of harm. That is if she will ever come home.

I wish she would see it that way. I also wish that she wouldn't be drug home by the police. I wish...many things. I want to turn back the clock. I don't want to turn into an elder tomorrow. I don't want my little girl to be an adult. I don't want her to be an heir. We were just playing tag in the yard...yesterday right?

Maybe I can scare the young man away.

Time Marches on
Generation Four Begins

Hello, I'm Klara. The entire family is eating cake downstairs. We just had a huge party to celebrate four birthdays. Mom and Dad are elders now. Britania is a teenager. I'm a young adult. It's killing me not to be downstairs. I'm a bit of a party animal.

Dad told me earlier today that it was my turn to take over the book. He said it felt right. He also says I'm too beautiful, and he needs to buy a big bat.

The party was great. People were dancing and laughing. Grandma Nadia had an old saying, "If you're in this family you must like cake. " There was cake all around. It was fun to celebrate. We've had too many funerals lately. Aunt Rosie, Uncle Wesley, Aunt Dianne, and Uncle Ashley have all gone on. Patty Abe is still around though. Some say she is a million years old and forever young.

My baby sister is all grown up also. She plans to set the artistic world on fire. I'm proud of her. Also, I've got a new job. I'm enlisted in the military. All my life I have heard stories about Grandma Nadia and Barnacle Bay. I'm going up there. I want to become an astronaut and see if there's life up there.
