Create a Style question
« on: December 26, 2009, 08:14:33 AM »
Well, I've got the game now along with World Adventures (and there was much rejoicing!).  I managed to play around with it for quite a bit yesterday, mostly creating Sims, and so far I'm having a blast.  The create-a-style tool is fantastic and I can waste a huge amount of time just customising clothes for my Sims.  But there's one thing that seems to be missing: an eye-dropper feature to quickly copy patterns or colours from somewhere else.  After spending ages putting a new print and changing its colours on the top half of a dress, it's frustrating to have to repeat every step of the process for the skirt.  And having found the perfect shade of colour, I have to copy its hex number to repeat it elsewhere in the outfit.  Seeing as they have an eye-dropper for build and buy mode, I can't believe that they haven't got it for CAS.  Am I missing something?

Within the same outfit, you can drag the colored and patterned buttons onto different places on the outfit to copy them.  If you want to use the same pattern on different outfits, you just need to save it to your Favorites.  Do do that, you select the pattern you want to save and then click the heart.  Once that is done, you'll be able to find that pattern under the category "Favorites" which is located in the drop down box where you select the type of pattern (Geometric, Themed, Fabrics, etc.).  Here's a screenshot that shows you where the heart is located.

I'm embarrassed to admit that after posting, I re-read the manual and suddenly the information about dragging was blindingly obvious (I swear it wasn't there before!).  I'm slowly getting the hang of that now, but I still wish there was an eye-dropper for customising objects in home.  I'll have to experiment with making favourites to compensate.  Thanks, Pam!

The same idea applies to furniture etc. at home.  Go into Buy mode, click on the paint palette tool and then a piece of furniture to change the colours, drag the desired colour to another piece of furniture and confirm the changes, should work fine.

(Ps, writing this from memory so may have missed a step but I'm sure you can work it out  ;))
