You first need to have Create-A-World for that 64x64 lot.

Actually, while I have CAW downloaded, I've never actually installed it.  There's a tool on the bottom of the Edit Town interface that allows you to place lots sized anywhere from 10x10 to 64x64 on any routable terrain.  I don't think it was there originally...I think they patched it in after CAW came out.

Generally, game won't show icons of lots smaller from the one you are trying to place, so if you can see the icon of an empty lot and click on it, then you should see loading screen and and after that option to rotate lot and accept or cancel.

This is exactly why I asked, because I thought it might be a clear indicator of the problem.  If the fence is making the game think that the lot is too big to place, then a 64x64 lot may very well be the answer to the problem.

I figured it out! There is one 64x64 lot and that one is located in Bridgeport. It is the one where the butterfly garden is. I've removed that garden and places my lot on it. What I didn't know was that the lot size there is 64x64 instead of 60x60. So that explains why my Millionairs Mansion only fits on that lot size.

Sorry guys for all the confusion.

Yeah now it all makes sense, except for why you were seeing lots that it wouldn't fit in.  Typically, only the lots where the building will fit show up.  That's one of my biggest complaints with Bridgeport:  there are no free lots of decent size and the terrain is so uneven that there's no way to place one yourself.

Yes, I know. It is not practical to build large in Bridgeport. You better use Naga's version of Sunset Valley 2.0. Than you have all the functionalities of a great city while still being able to build big.

In my game, empty lots that are too small will show up, but their icons are gray in color whereas the lots that are big enough have purple icons.

Yup, in mine too. I just got Barnacle Bay, and the same thing happens there. When placing a house from Swap Shop I noticed it.
