60 x 60 doesn't fit anymore on a 64 x 64
« on: March 05, 2011, 06:18:24 AM »
He fellow members,

Because the millionairs mansion my sims where living in became to much for my computer power I desided to let the sims live in a more 'normal' house.
But when I later on was going to place the millionairs mansion back on another 60 x 60 spot I got the notice that it doesn't fit anymore.
I have no city left with that modern version of the millionairs mansion so I don't know how I can fix it. Is there any cheat maybe that aloud all lots on every lot size?

Edit: I've changed the title numbers 60 to both 64, as I was confused about the largest lot space. Apologies for any confusion.

It might be because you have too many things on the lot.  Also, you might have something that's very close to the edge of the lot that's making the game think it's bigger.  I'm not aware of a cheat that will fix this, unfortunately.

This might sound a little odd, but is the 60 x 60 lot you're placing it on actually zoned as a lot? Sometimes they get zoned as empty buildings instead (you can see the little icon), which can be fixed with a quick bulldoze. Apart from that I can't think of why you can't place it. Perhaps you could place your mansion on a 64 x 64 lot instead?

56x56s, 60x60s and 64x64s are always tricky. Make sure you haven't put a fence around the whole lot's edges, and that you didn't put any object with moveobjects right on the edge of the lot; those two factors can mess up the size system thing. Remember, if you have to put it in a 64x64 to fix it, after you're done and save it, it will always be 64x64.

Wait, is 64 by 64 the largest lot? I was refering to the largest lot so it could be I was meaning 64 instead of 60.
Well, I have placed a fence at the lot's edges to give myself as much building space as possible while staying save from paparazi.

@ Naga, your Sunset Valley Late Night version, does that one include lots that are larger than 64 by 64? I know you can (or could, if it is changed now) place larger lots than the cities ingame do aloud so maybe than I can place the lot and change things on it right there. Hopefully I can save it than as being smaller, but I doubt that.

Leto, largest possible lot is 64x64 (even in CAW when making new world). Largest residential lot in SV is 60x60. Also, if lot is mark as building, you won't be able to even try placing it there, since no icon will appear. About fence and move object, I once made a "fence" out of rocks and plants using move object, and some of them were practically outside of the lot. Once I copied it and placed it on a same sized lot, but half of the rocks were missing, without any message. There is no way that game would save your lot as bigger than it is.
You might want to recheck size of your mansion and the size of a lot you're trying to place it. It is probably what Pam said, too many objects on a lot so it became corrupted in a way.

@Anushka: If it will be the problem with to many objects than I have a big problem. Of course I can go back to an older Millionairs Mansion version, but I have changed so many good things in the newest version. Hm, what a waste... but oh well, I've learned something the hard way.

It should probably not be "too many objects". Maybe your lot is 64x64, and you were trying to place it in a 60x60?

To get a 64x64 lot, you have to place one yourself in Edit Town.  The largest empty lot that exists "naturally" in any town is 60x60.  Smaller in Twinbrook and Bridgeport.

So, when you go to place the lot, what actually happens?

What? Wait a second. The largest ingame is 60x60 but the largest you can place is 64x64? Than I can be saved still! :D

When I place the lot I got a message that the lot size is to small compared to the lot I was placing on them. Not that exact same words, but you know the message I guess.

You first need to have Create-A-World for that 64x64 lot. I don't have one, but that's what I've read so far. And in which neighborhood did you build your Mansion? If it's SV or Riverview, it's 60x60. Bridgeport and Twinbrook both don't have a 60x60 lot.
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

I've officially rebuild it in Bridgeport as I have moved the lot over and over again every time my sims where living in another town. But I tried to place it in Sunset Valley on the large free 60x60 lot in the rich zone of the town. But yeah, of course it doesn't fit I understand now.
If I place a 64x64 lot with Create-A-World in Sunset Valley, can I correct the mansion on that lot and places it back on a 60x60 lot after saving it?

I think if you put it on a 64x64 lot and then save it to the bin, the lot size will be fixed as 64x64, no matter which size it was before. It won't fit on a 60x60 lot certainly after that. It's just simple maths - 64x64 is bigger than 60x60 - so you can't fit it on a 60x60 anyway.

@Leto - This can be done from "edit town".  Bulldoze the lot you want, I think you mentioned you tried the 60x60 lot near the Alto household, so I tried it there.  Then you go into edit world, the icon that looks like paper and a pen, to the left of the bulldozer, then place a 64x64 lot.  Voila!  That should work.  Hope this helps.

Leto, you confused me now :-\  You select your mansion from a bin, chose to place it, click on the icon of the lot in rich area in SV and then got message your lot is too big to be placed there?
Generally, game won't show icons of lots smaller from the one you are trying to place, so if you can see the icon of an empty lot and click on it, then you should see loading screen and and after that option to rotate lot and accept or cancel. I'm not shore what of these you did and when you got message your lot is too big.
And you can't change lot size into smaller one, so once you save it as 64x64 it can't become smaller.
