Obituaries
« on: February 28, 2011, 03:34:15 PM »
First post...hello!
So, my sim was reading the paper one morning and read that a sim in town had starved to death!  A few days later, she was reading the paper again and another sim with the same last name (Gage), had died in a fire.  Again, strange.
So, obviously sims must die by accident as they're living their lives, but it seems really strange that one would starve to death given the availability of food in town (in fact, the obituary even noted that it was strange).
I was just curious if other players had come across this?  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, Duncan.  I remember in one of my games, I got the message that Gunther Goth had starved to death.  Like you, I thought it was odd, especially as Gunther is one of the richest sims in town.  A day or two later, the message came up that Cornelia and Mortimer had left town.  I found myself wondering if she had killed off the old boy and was skipping town to avoid the police!  Who knows.  I suspect it's just one of the ways the game builds in story progression, but it was fun to speculate.

I heard that it is the games way of coping with a large population, something about the  Story progression making sure there are not too many sims in your neighborhood even if moving out or killing them is the solution.

I see it happen quite often.  The only method of death I haven't seen in the newspaper is when vampires die of thirst.  I've seen starvation, electrocution, and drowning.  Oh, and I haven't seen death by meteor in the newspaper.

I was also wondering about this. I doubt my town is over populated, but still...
