Lock the Door
« on: December 23, 2009, 03:16:38 AM »
I found an option of "Lock" from the door of my house.
What's the function of this? Prevent of thief?
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

Unfortunatly, it does not protect against theives. The lock part of it is to be so you can, for example, lock it to where only you can go into a certain room. You can set it so your family can, or yourself can, and I think one other I can't remember. Then, of course unlocking it. Hope this helps you!  :D

You can lock the door against everyone, against everyone but you, and against everyone but your household.  It comes in handy when Sims just barge into a private bedroom with no concern for a Sim who is trying to sleep.  I've also found it handy to lock the front and back doors of the house against everyone except my household during a party so the guests don't go running around inside and messing with stuff.

Yeah I also like locking the guests out of the house so they don't make a mess everywhere and break the toilet...

Or say you have several Sims in a house and one is a writer. Then you might not want all the other Sims to constantly play computer games so the writer can't get to write, so you could lock the room with the computer for everyone but the writer.

I wish the locking function was more intuitive. For instance, I keep forgetting to unlock the door when I call a repairman. So, he just stands outside and complains, until I notice he's there. People you hire like the maid or the babysitter should be considered "household". I swear, I think in Sims 2 they were. My stupid Butler almost died of exhaustion (if that's even possible) because the door to his room was locked against guests.  >:( He eventually electrocuted himself, so he was too stupid to live anyway...

Ever since I moved my sims to their villa up in the hills of Sunset Valley, I built a wall around the lot, and in the front of it there are 2 gates, being one of them locked to everyone but my household, and the other one is the electric gate, so that when a guest/maid/whoever comes over they may still come in. I also lock all bedrooms (except for the guest bedroom), private bathrooms and band studio. Even if a guest ever gets allowed inside, I still don't want them to mess with my sims' instruments or personal stuff.

Or lock the door for everyone if you are aging nectar and don't want it to be messed with for a couple generations.

I ALWAYS lock the door to the room with the computer. I hate it when they autonomously play on the computer. I usually only buy a computer if I know I'll have someone who actually needs to use it.

Lock a door is practical for if you have a butler but don't want him to cook every 2 hours. Lock the only door that leads to the kitchen and you will be fine.

We have only recently started using a Butler, and he seems to anticipate family hunger needs rather than just keep on cooking [and calling everyone to eat  :( ].
Perhaps he has a personality defect? :D

Hehe, I guess he has indeed. :P There are more topics related to butler bugs and the only thing that seems to help (besides fireing him) is locking the kitchen door.

My Butler stopped Rabbit Character from going to work with a Key Lime Pie and I didn't notice (She almost got demoted or Sacked) , there is enough food in the Fridge for the entire SV. Thanks for the tip Leto!  Locked doors here I come!  ;)

I have never tried locking the interior door, but once.  I thought it would keep the maid out, but it didn't, just like locking the front door does not keep out burglars and I believe maids can still get it too.  Will have to try it, but I gave up on butlers anyway, lol. :)
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

A celebrity's daughter, a teenager, whom I was only acquainted with, came into my apartment and started playing with my things. She even broke up my sink and started a fire in my house. I was fed up, so I shooed her into the bathroom and locked her up for 3 days. ;D My sim didn't have to do anything inside that room, because he spent most of the day in gyms and bars. After 3 days, I opened the door and let her out as she hadn't been attending school for a while. She was found sleeping on the floor covered with leaking water from a broken and dirty sink, and toilet was also broken up. I WAS DEVIL!!!!! 8)

By the way I am using the (mod removed - DS), and in Late Night.

I'd been using lock doors but now I have new ideas.  Time to lock the band room door when I get home.  Yay no more idle sims going and plying with the insturments and distracting still more sims.  Also good for keeping sims out of the sarcophaguses in the basement!

Usefull too if you fence in your garden to keep sims from running off and playing in the sprinklers.  Seems any sim with Loves the Outdoors absolutely love sprinklers LOL!
