Here's my attempt at giving my favorite family a collective makeover: the Bunches. Here goes,
(Note: All four of the children have been aged up to YA for this.)
Jack seems like a casual guy, but his sleeveless shirt/shorts combo seems a touch on the sloppy side for a Perfectionist and far more suited for workout gear than everyday wear. (thus replacing that hideous getup that
was his workout gear...yipes!)
His favorite color is turquoise, which I reflected in his polo shirt, then gave him simple blue jeans and hiking boots to complete the outfit. Facial hair is a must to cover the upper lip, and I modified his hairstyle a bit. Dropping a bit of weight and adding some muscle did wonders for him. Jack really isn't bad looking, all things considered.
Judy was more of a challenge. She looks
terrible super-thin, so I kept her at above average weight (I think about a .3). Just because you have extra weight doesn't mean you have to dress frumpy though. That mustard-yellow shirt and plaid pants have
got to go!
What with four kids, a husband, and a full-time job to contend with she would probably be more concerned about comfort than anything. I incorporated her favorite color (spiceberry) into the shirt and kept everything neat and tidy, but casual. Her makeup needed softening, and I went ahead and gave her a more fun hairstyle.
Now for the kids, starting with Ethan.
In all reality, he doesn't need much in the way of help. I gave him a more romantic hairstyle, but didn't touch his weight or muscle tone.
Ethan strikes me as a low-key sim, intelligent but not snooty about it, so I kept his wardrobe sensible and casual. I went more for the cute guy-next-door sort of look.
Then Lisa...
First to go was that horrendous green eyeshadow. She has very light purplish-pink eyeshadow and a bit of blush but no lipstick. For some reason I thought she looked better without it. Gone are the braided pigtails in favor of something a bit more sassy.
Her clothing is elegant yet daring, in other words snobbish with a touch of bad girl. Pinstripes in deep purple accentuate her figure, while the gloves are essential for making sure that no fingerprints are left behind. Perfect for the master thief-in-training...possibly on the arm of an up-and-coming evil mastermind?
And on that note, I should makeover VJ sometime.
Now for the infamous Arlo.
Arlo is...Arlo. There's not much you can do with his inherent Arlo-ness other than accept it for what it is. Not everyone is born with a perfect face, right? The point is accentuating the positives here. The low bangs seem to make his face smaller, while the facial hair (somewhat) disguises his upper lip.
Arlo is an outdoorsy sim, one who I imagine would follow his father's dream of being in professional sports, so I chose his clothing to reflect that. His preferred color is white...which other than being decidedly boring would cause serious problems with grass stains. I made his outfit primarily in various tones of gray. While I didn't think this sort of attire worked on his father, for a younger, more active sim like Arlo it works.
Last but not least, Darlene.
While not as notoriously homely as Arlo, she does have one feature that turns a lot of people off--the lips. There is no disguising them, but painting them a light shade of pink softens the impact quite a bit. I kept her makeup light as a whole and gave her a nice up-do. Having tried many hairstyles on her I've found that I don't really like her hair down, but the braided bun seems to fit her well.
I will admit it, she is probably my favorite of the bunch. She's different. Darlene marches to the beat of her own drum and isn't afraid to do what she wants. To reflect this I gave her an outfit that is comfortable and casual but slightly edgy. As she is stick-thin I had her hit the weights and put on some muscle to even things out.
