China confiscated my vacation home??

So, second trip to China after buying, furnishing and supplying home with relics and gems on first trip and the game throws up a message that the area my vacation house was in has been rezoned and sim had 90,000-95,000 more simeoleons in her account.  What is this about??  Sim Renee and Jon were put back to base camp!  

Sorry, really steamed about this.  There was chests and coffee tables filled with relics and gems plus the small garden out back.  I bought one of the ugly homes in the forbidden city and remodeled and refurnished it and they have a new one there now but I saw their house standing empty with all the stuff and it really upset me.    The game has changed the lots you can purchase also.  There's hardly any country lots as most of the ones you can buy have disappeared and the only ones you can buy are the ugly paved lots in forbidden city.  I had originally bought and built on a lot by the graveyard, which was kinda out of the way so I moved it to another lot closer to the city.  I wonder if that's what prompted this radical move by China?  

While Renee and Jon were on their 11 day vacation, in their new, "not what I wanted" vacation home, I noticed a townie moved into my house!!  Along with all the relics, gems, nice furniture, exercise equipment and training dummy/board breaker equipment, etc. etc.,  I hope she breaks her simmie neck on it.

Can you go into edit town mode and evict that townie?? I would at least try, if for no other reason than to get some revenge. Man, that really sucks!

Thanks for the support bogie!  I thought about doing that but figured the game would revenge me back by not making the current home available either. 

I learned a valuable lesson that I'm passing on...DO NOT leave anything, relic, gem, of any value in vacation homes when you return home.  They may not be there when you go back.

Wow....just wow....that really sucks!  I'm so sorry that happened to you! I keep all my "valuables" stored in chests and actually keep them in my family inventory so they can be available when they are needed. But still, I'd be upset if China (or any of the other countries) took away the vacation home that I spent so much time remodeling and making my own.

My sim has not been back to China since the newest patch.....so I hope I don't have a surprise waiting for me when I do go.

True.....but just think of all the neat surprises you might miss. 

I mean, my sim had an affair with the dirty old philandering special merchant and had a child by him that she didn't even know about. Bogie's sim had a whole affair, gave birth to a child and that child grew up, all while her husband was asleep in the tent. And now bshag's vacation home just got stolen by China and given to a local!  Where else can you get that kind of entertainment?  LOL

It's not turned off.. it's called "World Renowned Surgeon" wish... they are just trying to help the Dr achieve it!

Actually, bshag,....I was worried that this has just happened to my sim as well. When she just went back to China, she was automatically dumped at the base camp even though she owns a vacation home there. It never gave me the option like it usually does, to choose where I want to stay. I zoomed over to her vacation home and clicked on it, but it gave me the message "You own this property." (or something like that) But it is weird that she didn't get the option to stay there this time. I was mad too because she JUST got it and finished decorating it before she had to leave China on the trip before.

It doesn't let you enter your property?  What happens when you click on the "go home" button next to your Sim's picture?

I think you need to find the deed to the property in your Sims inventory and click on it. It should give you the option to make that house your home base.

Nope....can't enter the property at all. It gives me the little grayed out icon of the house as if no one is home. When I click on go home, it takes my sim back to the base camp.

Ok, I didn't realize you could do that. I did check her inventory after she wasn't able to go there, just to make sure that she did still own the house and she does. So the deed IS in her inventory and China didn't steal it.

Another strange just happened in China too...regarding housing. I made a Chinese sim family and moved them into the neighborhood in China. I put them in a nice sized house and was even able to edit it to make sure they had room for their 2 kids and all the amenities. Well while my female sim was doing an adventure, her contact person to report in to happened to be the male sim I had made. The thing is though, he lived in a different house, so I thought, "I wonder why he lives here now....I wonder if his family is here too?"  So I did the cheat shift-click and "buy on this lot" so that I could see inside the house and see who was there. His whole family was in fact there, but this house isn't nearly as nice as the house I put them in. So why did they move to a different house? Anyway, I just left them in there.....figured if that's where they would rather be, I wouldn't move them. I just found it strange that they moved right after I put them in the neighborhood in a nice house.
