Love the collection, downloaded it a while ago :)

Will you be updating it with star-cut gems?

Star-cut gem? Does that even exist? I remember that I've asked about it here 1,5 years ago or so and it turned out to be a mod, so I couldn't discuss it further.
But now the Sar-cut is an actual cut-form?

I don't think it is.

Anushka took pictures of a star cut in another thread and hinted that she would be updating the collection soon so yes there is a new cut: the star cut.

I'm working on that, thanks!

EA finally unlocked the star cut with latest patch and Carl added it to the guide too ;)

Great! So when can a sim unlock that cut-form? Is it something extra special?

According to Anushka's post in the Pets sub-forum:  "I figured it out, it is unlocked after brilliant cut (I think 15 gems cut brilliant before getting it), it costs 800$ and it multiply the value of the raw gem by 4."

So it doesn't sound like it's a special cut like the sculptor's egg, but is just unlocked as your sim cuts gems.

I updated first post with new links and photos.
Thanks Katluvr :) I also find out that later this cut is costing only 400$ but don't know why it is cheaper. In any case now you all can have large star cuts of your favorite gems too without too much of the effort.
Even if it is said that Star Cut is unlocked with latest Patch not with EP, I'm leaving the old version available at least until that is confirmed.

How in the world did you get all those star cuts so fast?

My assumption is she had a sim who had all cuts unlocked, so she used him/her to do it.
She probably also has the collection helper, and even then an outstanding knowledge of where to find every available gem.
I'm about to download it Anushka! It's beautiful!

@Anushka:

How in the world did you get all those star cuts so fast?

My Sim whom I'm using to explore AP and Pets became Martial Artist as soon as I read that there is a star cut, so while cat and dog were doing their part (collecting everything, dog helped with gem collecting with sniffing for collectables) she was breaking space rocks. First, I sent collected gems to unlock one by one cut and that's how I find out how to get Star cut. After that I needed only 8 pieces of each gem, and since she didn't find any gnome till then, all gems sent to be cut returned as cut. Once I had at least 4 star cuts of each gem and tiberium, geode and septarian nodule in heart cuts, I put all of them in a chest on small 10x10 lot, copy it in library, and saved my Sim family in library too, placed them all in tiny world I have for testing purposes which loads extremely fast, and start transfiguration process there. (Placed that small lot with gems 2 times and doubled the amount of cut gems I had, because Lapis Lazuli was not spawning fast enough for me, until I got 4 Lapis Lazuli I had 15 Fluorites so there were enough star cut gems to use).
After that, transfiguration begin, until tiberium, geode and septarian nodule - I put 4 tiberiums and 4 other gems cut in stars, saved, transfigurate, if I got the star save again, if not exit without saving. Surprisingly fast I got all 3 of them and then the real struggle begin of adding star cuts into community lots.  Again, small 10x10 lot with a chest, I placed large star cuts in that chest and saved lot in a bin, and place it in total 4 times in that tiny world. Then placed lots with all other gems, change them back to residential lots. Used familyfunds cheats so my Sim could move in there, added star cuts on lot and in chest, move out with "selling furniture" option. Then back to Edit town, change back to community lots, share. Place them again and check if stars are still there, edit post and upload lots  ;D.

So technically, it is not hard if you focus on gem collecting and include few cheats. Dogs were sniffing for collectables because it was easier for me to randomly click that option anywhere on lot and because that dog already had find lots of gems while I was exploring Pets options. Also, it would be enough to just have 1 of each gem cut in star to multiply it with Edit Town. And having empty tiny world that loads in 2-3 seconds is also very helpful to get that geode star :D.

Anushka, could you send me the little world you where talking about? I would like to use that one myself as testing subject. And to cut out gems the way you did.
