Wish to Take a Photo Worth $5k?!

So my level 10 photographer got a wish to take a photo worth $5000.  Has anyone done this and, if so, what did you take a picture of?  I'm thinking it must be something 'OMG' like Doubly Dead from one of the photo collections. 

As an aside, an easy way to make a HUGE amount of $ in a short time is to photograph the Dragon Cave in China once a day using the most expensive camera, panoramic view and vignette filter.  My sim's photos are worth $4500 the first time each day when she takes that shot. 

(14 days x $4500/day) - approx. $1000 cost to operate camera = $62,000 profit   

I take the photos out of the camera and put them into her inventory and they start increasing in value immediately.  One photo she took on Day 1 of her current trip was originally worth around $300.  Now after sitting in her backpack for 10 days it has tripled in value. 

Her husband has the Suave Seller LTR so he's going to take all her photos to the consignment store as soon as they get back to SV.

Great tips, thanks. Actually, I've never had a photo worth more than 2000$ (and I've never had a Sim reach higher than level 8 of the skill either) so this is yet another discovery for me. I'm working on getting Doubly Dead by the way.

I have never really worked with one as far as getting their challenges met.  I know it can be done, but I have just never done it, so it would be interesting to try and get one that price.  All I know, is the only time I had a photo worth a large amount, is after it was generations old and it is worth around 14,000, which I thought was amazing in itself.  I would be interested in finding out how to take them and have them be worth a small fortune.  I guess it would depend on the skill level and the kind of photo, which I guess you can't take panoramic pictures until they are level 10.  Good luck and hopefully we can find out.

At first I really hated leveling photography and had totally ruled it out as a supermax skill in my dynasty (my photographer is generation 2, immortal-to-be, with LTW of Renaissance Sim - painting/sculpting/photography FTW!).  I gave my sim the Fast Learner LTR so leveling photography wasn't as painful as I expected.

It turned out to be way more profitable than I ever dreamed.  Even with Artistic and Perfectionist traits and Extra Creative LTR, her most valuable painting to date was only worth about $2500 and it took time to create.  Once I figured out about the Dragon Cave cash cow, I've been sending her into the hills with her camera every day.  Her husband was off adventuring and by the time he had a level 3 visa she had enough money in the bank to build a nice vacation home.

Let me guess: the photo was of the first/second generation of your dynasty? I'm never taking photos out of the camera, so mine don't gain in value, unfortunately...
Right, panoramas are available only at level 10 and take a lot of display place, nearly a full wall. Photography is a very difficult skill to even max, not talking about supermaxing with its tricky collections and challenges...

No skill can be maxed as quickly as photography. Guaranteed. That's assuming you've got the best camera to start and you're pausing the game a lot to get your bearings to continually set up brand new shots.

Your right, it was Agnes that took that photo and I am on the seventh generation, so yes, it has been a long time ago.  There are other photos that are worth alot, but not like that one.

I have traveled with a soon to be photographer and the most I ever got for a photograph was 2000.00.  At the time they needed the money, but I now I really want to travel again, but with another family or single sim, as I do not travel with my dynasty family.

It's not as hard to max as I thought - especially with the Fast Learner LTR.  The harder part for me was remembering to have my sim take pictures.  No photos = no skill up.

The things that really turned me off the skill were the fact that it is a money sink at first - and my sims never start out with a lot of extra cash - and the difficulty of the challenges.  

Now that I see how profitable it can be, I would definitely consider it as a career.  Because of all the immortal requirements for my photographer I most likely won't get to work on the challenges too much (painting is her supermax skill and career).

My sim saw a mummy when she was adventuring in Egypt, but she had no martial arts or athletic skills, could not reliably kiss a king cobra, and had future dynasty generations to consider.  I was lucky to have her get a pretty bad photo (she was low level photography at that point), but I was more interested in having her escape unharmed.

While I've never actually taken a photograph worth $5k, your best option is taking panoramic vacation photos in Egypt.  Photos of the Sphinx and the Pyramids (and that other place, Abu something-or-other) tend to be worth a whole lot at level 10.  Perhaps taking it as a vignette would help, too.

Metro, at least for me it's hard to spot new photos to take, and since the skill book gets you only to level 3, I've not been able to max it yet. Though I'm level 8-9 already   For me the easiest skills to max were Writing and all the skillbook-skills (i.e. Logic, Cooking, Gardening).

Katluvr, of course, I'm going to post it in the Weird Pics thread as soon as I get it. My mummy is currently on the way (I want my sim's baby to be a mummy, she's right now pregnant, of course I'm going to cheat to get him/her faster to YA). I managed to collect the Black Sarcophagus parts and create one, so I only miss the Sim. The mummy is going to die of drowning (a sim in the house has the fireproof homestead LTR). More coming!

Skill books are never as fast as actually "doing" a skill. If you take a look at the Photography Guide the key is planning. Some of the shots in the collections are very tough. But, many are quite easy. It's just a question of knowing where to go to get them and having all of your ducks in a row. Both Agnes and Recipe Man in my Man Dynasty maxed Photography in less than 2 days — I just wrote out a list of probably 70-80 shots that were all different.
