No, I just have the cribs, highchairs, toddler books on the ground for the toddlers to read (and no bookshelf so that the babysitter doesn't put the books away) and toys.

That way the babysitter looks after the baby most of the time.

I actually put a tv in that room so the babysitter will no longer go the next door master bedroom to watch tv when my sims are sleeping. It seems the babysitter will watch the nearest tv with the kid instead of the biggest.

My sims are having tv in their bedroom simply because they can watch tv from out their bed. I wish they could watch tv from out of the hot tub.

I don't really want to fill my house up with TVs because I've read that lots of items in a dynasty house tends to lead to error files.
So it's just one big TV for my family :)

Your computer is more busy with rendering most of the time if you really take it over the top, that's true. But what you could do is just make a big house with a minimal furniture. Sort of like a LOFT style of living, if you're familiair with that.

I don't think that they're freeloaders. Candy helped alot with my triplets. My poor sim's wife couldn't handle it when my sim went to work, so she had to hire a babysitter. Candy helped a lot because wifey could relax while Candy took care of them. Only sometimes did Candy get distracted and talk to the wife when she should have been taking care of the kids. I had to cancel the action so she could actually work.

I think it just depends on the babysitter. but babysitters aren't the only hired sims that don't do their job. One time, I hired a maid, and all she did was make the beds(even though the whole house was a mess) and then left with my 125 simoleons(and she had the audacity to eat some leftover macaroni and cheese from my refrigerator before she left). >:(

Actually, it was probably cereal.  But even so, if your sims do that when they're visiting someone else, they get yelled at lol.

My babysitters do an okay job. Butlers are nicer. My sims is barely able to pay bills and butler though.

I've been having serious issues with the babysitters in Bridgeport lately.  They'll show up and won't even make it into the apartment before saying "It's time for me to leave."  They take off for a moment, but return and hang out in the lobby while ignoring the baby completely.  Usually, by the time someone makes it home, the baby's needs are so bad that the thumbnail on the left side of the screen is red.  And it's not just one babysitter, either.  All of them do that for me.

Exact same problem! Butlers are a better go, even if they are pricey. Like I said, my current family barely has enough money to pay for the butler and for the bills.

LOL you're the first person who had a good experience with Candy Ashleydale. One time I was playing with the Keaton family and their baby boy's needs were rock bottom while both parents were at work (I have the long life span). Candy didn't do a thing. She was sleeping on the couch. I even got a pop up message saying "If Jerry isn't fed soon the social worker will have to take him away" Needless to say, I had her fired. Davy stole Leighton's son once. (That would've been a glitch from the earlier patches though)

Here's something I noticed about babysitters just today:

I was playing a single parent, and I had the camera follow the parent to work since I assumed that the babysitter would take care of the baby.  However, as the hours rolled on, the baby's picture started turning red, indicating that it was being ignored.  So I centered the camera on the baby to see what the problem was.  The moment I did, the babysitter (who was just standing on the front porch) immediately sprang into action, changed the baby's diaper, fed it and started playing with it.

The next night, the same thing started happening.  Again, the babysitter was standing on the front porch, but walked into the house to start caring for the baby the moment the camera settled on it.  And this has happened pretty much every night that the adult sim had to work, well into the child's toddler years.

So I was wondering:  where are your cameras pointed when your sim's babies are being ignored by babysitters?  It happened so many times in a row, that I'm wondering if this is the trend.

Hosfac, I have also noticed the same thing. Not only with babysitters, but the maids, butlers, etc. who I hire. They never seem to do their job unless you are watching them and making sure they do their job. Very ridiculous! I didn't think the hints about watching hired help were this serious.

When I'm watching them the entire time (which I don't have enough time/patience to do) then they do a decent job. Nothing to brag about, but the kids remain somewhat happy. As was mentioned earlier, if your babysitter puts the toddler in the crib even if you don't want them to, you can just tell the toddler to play with their toys or just cancel the "in crib" action and then they will be removed from the crib.

I would keep an eye on your babysitters at night. Most are kleptos. It's funny how they spring into action the minute you put the camera to them.

Me too! I thought it was just me. O.o
My sims and her husband went to the hospital to have their triplets, so they called a baby-sitter.
I decided that because the process was taking so long, I would check up on the toddler and her care-taker.
The toddler was crying her eyes out in her high chair to get out. The baby-sitter would continue to give her baby food even though the toddler's hunger meter was filled and they had a "stuffed" moodlet. One time I even came home to find the baby-sitter sitting on the porch. I was not pleased either!

That has happened a few times with me as well.
