They never do their jobs. I left my toddler Chowder with Candy Ashleydale once, and she was just watching TV while Chowder was close to starving. Chowder was almost taken away by the social worker. (yes I plan on naming my real life son Chowder as I secretly have a fascination for the TV show: i used to pretend to hate it) so I fired her. Then, Davy came along and kept pestering and smothering poor Chowder. Chowder was very cranky (it was past his bedtime) and Davy kept playing with him and trying to feed him baby food. (Toddlers should really be eating solid foods in smaller portions I think, maybe in little toddler plates?) I miss the nannies. They were so much nicer and actually did their jobs.

Well, this is a matter of concern, but it never happened to me. There are only two adults in my house, and both of them go to a job. So I have to call a babysitter to keep the six toddlers in my house alive, and she works fine. She kept all the scattered toys back in the toybox, she fed all the sims who were hungry, and even played with them.

You can try calling another babysitter.

Yeah not all your 'hired help' do their jobs properly. When you load up the game one of the hints is to keep an eye on them because they may be slacking.

And sometimes they even steal things up, or cause mayhem. For example, the pizzaboy peeks in the window after delivering the pizza, and then next night he comes as a burglar.

This describes nearly every teenage and adult sim in any household I've ever played where there was a child involved.  All hours of the day or night, someone has to be playing with the baby.  Geeze, let the poor kid sleep already!  It literally got to the point to where I had to put the mother in her own bedroom (or whoever would be taking care of the baby for the most part) and lock the door to everyone but them.  It was driving me nuts:P

I've had issues like this with Candy Ashleydale too! I wonder if it's just her that's bad at the job.
Though my babysitters generally leave the babies to starve and become lonely too.

I don't use babysitters very often, but when I do, they generally do fine.  My biggest complaint is that they put the toddler in the crib long before the little guy is sleepy.  He can have an energy bar more than half full and still gets put in the crib.  I found around it, though.  If I have the toddler click on a toy to play with or click on the potty to use it, the babysitter will come get him out of the crib and put him on the floor so he can go do his thing.  Of course, it's right back in the crib once he's done.

That's a really good tip Pam. Thanks for sharing - I've been looking for a way to stop that for ages!

I really have not had too much problem with babysitters either.  For the most part, they do a pretty good job.  I have had a couple of winners though.  They took care of the baby, only when they had to.  I do agree, I did like the nannies in sims2.   :)

I've had so many bad babysitters that I now lock the door to the 'everybody but my family' setting. That way the babysitter has to look after the baby/babies because they have nothing else to entertain themselves with.

So that hint was meant for staff? Oooooh, I've always thought that it was meant for people you could hire and fire in buyt out properties.

So the babysitter actually feels that the toddler want to play with his toys? That sure is a good tip!

That is a nice idea. I'll try that. Do you put something like TV's or computers in that room?

No, I just have the cribs, highchairs, toddler books on the ground for the toddlers to read (and no bookshelf so that the babysitter doesn't put the books away) and toys.

That way the babysitter looks after the baby most of the time.
