Custom Music
« on: February 12, 2011, 04:06:12 PM »
I read that you can put music from your computer into your TS3 game, and it'll play from the Custom Music channel on the radio. How do I do that?

All you have to do is put your music file (such as a .mp3) in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Custom Music.

All you do is take a music file and drag it to the file in the EA folder marked "custom music" and then you can play them in your game.  If your music files are not mp3 files, they have convertors that change those files to mp3.  That is what I had to do to get the files in my game folder. :)

I put in some of my favorite techno songs, but the radio won't play them. When I choose Custom on the speakers, my game becomes mute, and I have to quit it. Someone, help! :(

That can be either invalid music extension (something that isnt .mp3), or the mostly common "custom music plays way too low volume", or you placed them in the wrong Custom Music folder. There is one where you installed, and one in Documents, so if one doesn't work, try the other.

I've tried that, and while it doesn't mute the entire game, the music just doesn't play.

I didn't realize there was a second folder, though.  I'll have to give that a try to see what happens.

Have you tried zooming right in to the stereo when it's playing?
Because I found that you need to be quite zoomed in to actually be able to hear anything play. From a distance, it sounds as though it's muted.
