Like Filly said, they put the shipping on there, but when you get to checkout, it says zero for shipping and the last couple of times I have ordered from amazon, they also did not charge sales tax either.  So, I paid just for the product, which was quite nice, to say the least. :)

I was really on the fence about this because I have been spoiled by playing World of Warcraft (in a good way - excellent graphics, totally immersive environment, and on and on).  But honestly, the latest expansion to WoW has been underwhelming (not bad, but the previous expansion was so amazing that it was a hard act to follow) in my opinion and I'm having far more fun playing with my little sims.  My poor night elf druid is languishing at level 83.  What pushed me over the edge was the online offer to get the bonus in-game items for no extra cost, so I broke down and pre-ordered last week.  I'll be downloading my copy as soon as it comes out!

I'm definitely reserving judgment until I've had a chance to play, though.  I'm expecting it to be buggy and it seems to take a while for bugs to be fixed.  Also, I'm having a hard time envisioning simulation meets RPG.  Hopefully I'll be as pleasantly surprised as I have been with TS3.  Does anyone know of a good website with castle floorplans (moats preferred)?   ;D

I voted saying I wouldn't buy it, and now after having read people's first impressions I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with that opinion. I'm more interesting in multiple-sims families with buildings and free play rather than quest role-playing and I don't like the idea of having a game that 'ends' when you've achieved everything.

If you mean for Sims Medieval, you can't build castles/houses like you do in Sims 3.  The buildings you add are already built and come "as is" for the most part.

For the most part? You mean that there are exeptions?

For the most part in this case means that you are given a shell to work with and can place objects inside. There's no build mode here.

I've decided I will be getting Medieval, but I'm going to wait until it comes down in price. So unfortunately I'll miss all the hype that comes with playing the game as soon as it comes out, but if it's good then that won't really matter.

I changed my vote, I'm definitely buying Medieval. That said, I'm going to the store in an hour.

I am changing my vote too. I said no, but after reading an article on it, I went and put it on layby this morning. There are to many games coming out close together  :'(

Sad to say, but I have changed my vote also.  My grandson has it and says he is having tons of fun, so I thought I would try it out.  This way I have something more in common with him when we visit each other.  Off to the store I go :D.

I think that I am going to have to change my vote also.  I said 'I don't know', but after reading all the cool things that you can do on this game through this forum I'm now thinking 'I need this game as soon as possible'.

I want to know what it is that everyone is talking about as it sounds way cool  ;D

I especially love the picture of the Grim that is on another thread on here it is awesome.

EDIT:  Thrilled, when I got home from work tonight my lovely boyfriend surprised me with TSM!!  So I know if I get this assignment out of the way for college what I will be doing at the weekend  ;D

Grats, SassySimmer. What a considerate boyfriend you have.  :D I knew some of you on the fence would see how much fun some of us are having. I think we're all seeing that for the most part it gets positive reviews.

mtglady I'd love it if my grandmother would come here, but she just can't seem to get past things like Farmville. Oh well. If I couldn't get her hooked with TS3 I doubt she'll be up for Medieval.

I was originally considering buying it, but after seeing the price, it became totally unrealistic. I am NOT paying $85 for a game - even if it is Sims.
I voted No Way.
EDIT: Of course, I still read the forums and the guide (both Medieval). I want to see what I'm missing!

SassySimmer, you've got a great boyfriend!

On Amazon, the Sims Medieval is only $47.

Edit: I have a friend in New Zealand who paid $56 for the Sims Medieval

I paid $24.50 plus $15 postage on eBay Australia from a reputable seller in Thailand. Of course it took 12 days waiting for the Post Office to deliver but it was well worth it.

Are you talking U.S. $85?
