Yes your correct, we can't get CAW-I really wish they would come out with the Mac version!

Not even if you install a Windows simulation on your mac-system and install CAW there?

So what happens to the stuff we already submitted to Carl and stuff that's on the old swap shop?  Should I redownload my Sims and squeakyclean's Sims to here?

Here Joria, Carl's posted this on the Forum Announcement thread:

I do apologize to folks who have sent me items, but I do have all your emails and can forward them back to you if you like. Also, all items that have already been published will remain in their physical location on the guide for a time. This will allow you to share them in a new spot here. I would do some of these myself but it wouldn't be fair if I picked and chose among the 90+ items already available. Unfortunately it's harder on my end. For the most part you submitted me items that are portrayed in the gallery and I would have to hunt them all down.

Ausette beat me to the reply   :)  Though now I have questions of my own, which I hope are okay to ask here:

I've just spotted the bit added to the bottom of the post in the Swap Shop Instructions:

PLEASE NOTE:  Only content created by our members is allowed to be uploaded.  For example, you cannot download something from the Sims 3 Exchange and then upload it here.  It has to be your original item that you yourself have created in Create A Pattern or something that you personally have re-colored.

Third party custom content is NOT allowed under any circumstances.  Do not upload a Sim, a lot, or any item that contains third party custom content.  Anyone who breaks this rule will be banned from the Forum.  It's a serious offence and carries a serious consequence.

I understand that we can include content from any of the EPs and presume that we may include Store-Bought content but what about the T-Mobile freebies?  They're sort of third-party but can only be downloaded via our accounts with EA.

The other question is may we include patterns or re-coloured items created by members of this Forum, if we credit them when we post our item?

Thanks.

Thank you.  I guess I just hunt down what is in the old swap shop and repost here or.....I'll just leave them on the exchange where they are already being downloaded from and make new items for here.  Hmmm, maybe I will take out some of the more unique items like the graveyard and remake of the Goth Mansion so it's only for here.

Glad I could help, Joria. I always have to tell my computer scientist husband to "dumb it down" and tell me the exact steps and words/buttons I need to click on, in the right sequence. I wish everyone had to take a "your major in layman's terms" in university, even high school sometimes.

Good question, but T-mobile is a 'partner' (?)of EA, if I describe that correctly. So that should be fine. Unless I am really completely wrong, but I doubt that.

Credit people for using their work is the best way to let them feel your apreciation. I personally would make it a rule here to credit everyone you borrow from if I could do that, so yeah: please do. :)

Any official word yet on the whether patterns are considered CC?

I truly don't know Filly but I personally deleted all of mine, (ok, kept a few but won't use them here), and am busy remaking patterns.
I've tried sharing some but honestly it is more like work than fun for me so any of my patterns will just be in my studio in the EA site.  It's not the uploading of the patterns but getting the snaps to show up properly.  I got so frustrated with it all I haven't played all day, a first for me.

I forgot to ask this.  Isn't having the "child" topic and then the user name ones kind of redundant?  Is there a reason for it?  I would see, forinstance, "Houses" and then under that something like "Joria's rebuilds", but within that heading so that everyone knew you would find houses there and with a little effort would find their favorite builder.  But why separate it so that you sometimes double post? 'splain please.

Sometimes I see on the official forum threads titled "so and so's creations" where it lists a single picture and link to a lot or sim for EVERYTHING they've created.  I see the child threads as a thread specifically for one lot where they can got into more detail and have lots of pictures. Does that make sense...because it might only in my head. :)

I hope the patterns are allowed as I really want to contribute some starter lots.

You might be right but then doesn't that make the Building and Construction Showboat thread redundant?

Is anyone else having trouble with the Gallery again?  I've tried the usual routine for photos but they aren't showing up when I preview and I do have several things I wanted to share.

I don't really see the showboat thread so much as a place to share downloads as much as I see it as a place to share ideas and to "show off" what you're doing (hence:  showboating).  I've discovered a lot of interesting things that I had never known about from that thread, although I haven't exactly figured out a use for some of them yet.  :P

The items from T-Mobile are fine.  They are authorized by (and probably created by) Electronic Arts.  I think the use of patterns will be alright, as long as there's nothing X-rated, of course.  This is subject to change if we discover anything fishy with patterns downloaded from the Exchange/

I had to do the Control+F5 trick on multiple pages before everything was working for me again, but right now I'm not experiencing any more trouble when I do tests.

As for your question about the redundancy of the listings, I think it will make more sense when there are a lot of posts. It is true that we can sort by topic starter by clicking that column on a child board. When those items are spread amongst the various boards it will make them easier to hunt down if you're a fan of a certain creator. It will probably be a lot more useful when it grows into the hundreds of items.

Thanks, Carl.  I can see where this is going to get huge.  Will it overload the gallery with so many folks posting so many pics there for there many, many offerings?  I just put up two of the houses I sent you, plus two community lots, the graveyard and a sports bar.  Now I know that the patterns are ok I'll put up the Pink Flamingo Dance Club.

Since I make so many things, would it be better to post them under things like houses, (which I make the most of), or under a Child Board with my and squeakyclean's name?
