What is your sim's living condition?
« on: February 10, 2011, 07:21:21 AM »
Hi everyone,

I am always curious about how other people make their game look like. How their sims live, in what conditions, how their house looks, what is their sim's daily routine etc.
So like my previous topic "What goes in your basement?", I wish that you all share the conditions and living style of your household. Also share the traits and, if you want, like and dislikes about your sim. Tell us his name, how he lives, what does he do daily, what kind of person he is, what is his career, what is his history, etc. If possible, post the screenshots of your house and your sim.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

In my game:

My sim, Jason Hilton, is the only sim in my household. He lives in an average apartment in Williamsburg (a town created by me). He spent most of his money in building his apartment.

Jason is the son of a rich businessman, but in the game he doesn't have much money. He had just graduated, and came out recently. He is a Computer Whiz, as he likes to drink coffee and play games. He is also Athletic, Brave, Virtuoso, and Hopeless Romantic. I recently bought a computer for him.

The apartment in which he lives is full of sims. One of his friends lives in the lobby, while others are still strangers and acquainted people. The town is just as New York seen in GTA games, full of bars, apartments, somewhat similar to Bridgeport. The city is very large.

Jason lives a simple life. Going to bar with friends, meeting new people, but I have made so much sims in the city that I even forgot how many I made. More than 100, or probably thousand live in the city. He also has a girlfriend, Alice Wilkinson. Both of them met on computer, and after sometime they began dating each other.

The house is simple, with not much decoration. The bedroom is also equally simple, with a cheap bed, two lamps, a dresser with mirror, and a light on the ceiling. Living room is nice, with puffed leather loveseat and two puffed leather chairs. On one corner of the room, there is a desk, with a cheap computer on it. On the right of it is the old good TV, cheap to afford. Standing along is a bookshelf. The kitchen is right behind, with a 4-seat dining table. Bathroom has a shower, a sink with mirror above it, and a toilet.

At evening the house is full of visitors and friends. Many times, I buy a nectar bottle for special occasions, but they soon get empty. Many time the friends group together and play video games.

The life is very simple. Sometimes at night, Jason drinks coffee and keeps chatting and playing games, otherwise he hacks. He usually goes to sleep late, and thus he gets up late. Sometimes he spends the night at his girlfriend's home, and sometimes his girlfriend comes over to woohoo with him.

Jason has the Lifetime Wish to become a rock star. But he is still un-employed. He gets his money by hacking.

For the most part, I can't stand my sims to do without.  I don't lavish them or their houses with expensive things, but I can't stand it when they have no money.  That is why it is so hard to start a dynasty, I want to give them money and of course that is not alllowed.  This picture is my newest sim and I am starting a vampire in BP.  I love playing them, but have never started one from the beginning.  His favorite color is red, so I made his house red, white and black.  I fixed that little shack up on the other side of the river in BP.  I tried uploading him, but it said there was an error.  I like to experiment with different traits and like most of them.  My sims, as you would say, are spoiled and I guess I have always done that.  They do work for anything that is extra though, like bigger tv's or more expensive beds and stuff like that.

Drake's traits are, brave, charismatic, virtuoso.  Oh good grief, mind went blank, can't think of his other two right off.

Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

It depends. If I feel like playing a family, I'm having up to 7 sims (1 place left for SimBots, Mummies, etc.). Once I had full 8 sims. Gosh, it was HARD!
I always start with just one Create-a-Sim sim. I give my non-dynasty sims lots of money at the start. Their houses are full of stuff costing thousands, and unnecessary rooms (that's why it takes forever to load the game!).
The game I'm playing right now (by saying right now I mean in this week  ;D ) is involving a female Young Adult sim and a SimBot of her own invention. She's working on supermaxing all of the available skills (I don't have Late Night to make her a Vampire...) and becoming an imperfection of everything, by maxing all the careers/professions (not self-employed, but that might work out too), plus her Lifetime Wish is Seasoned Traveler, which means also maxing World Adventures locations and the tombs... This may take a while. I've nearly maxed all her skills since playing in December.  :)
I have other families also, but this sim is the best I can offer. Her traits are dependent on what she's working. Of course, I have her needs maxed all the time, testing cheats on and nearly 28,000,000 $. I love all the experience this game provides! Here are some pics of Katy:

@TheChronicR: Nice. I also make only one sim at the start, with his clothing and traits depending on what I have planned for him. And congratulations for new account on Photobucket.

@Saltypaws: Your sim is nice. Can you tell me his other two traits?

By the way, what is your sims' daily routine? I'll tell Jason's:

He gets up at 10:00 a.m. at morning, and goes out of the apartment to jog for an hour. Then he comes back and takes a plate of Cereal (I never made him cook anything, because I didn't want him to learn cooking skill). After the meal, he goes for a shower. By that time it is 2:00 p.m. He goes out for a while to meet his friends and hang out with them, as most of them come home from their job. After hanging out for an hour or two, it is the time to hit the hotspot in the town. He groups up with his friends and visits the bar, and gets somewhat drunk at his return. When it is nearly 7:00 p.m., Jason is back home. He watches TV or chat's with his friends. And when it's night, he starts hacking. He hacks computers till it is 1:00 a.m. Then he drinks some coffee, and starts hacking again. He hacks till it is 3:00 a.m. and then goes to sleep. Then he again wakes up at 10:00 a.m. What a perfect timetable for a hacker! 8)

I just got my laptop back, totally wiped, and decided to start new. I've been reinstalling the games one by one and enjoying them as I go. So my current, and only sim right now is the one I play. Her name is Yasmine Jespan, her lifetime wish is to have the perfect garden. She moved into the Shotgun Style in Sunset Valley and was strapped for cash for awhile, after getting fired from her job. After taking up a second job, she went and caught and sold butterflies, giving her about $1000. The money quickly was spent and I needed to get some the honest way. Enter Conner Frio. They're not even dating yet, but he moved in and sold his truck.

As for a daily routine, they don't really have one. They both have day jobs that they attend to, but other than that they tend to live in the moment. Sometimes they skill, sometimes they chat, sometimes they have fun. It all depends on how they are feeling that day. Conner just got back from a trip to China though and now we have $13,000 in savings. I think Yasmine will quit her job to focus on her gardening and getting together with Conner. I like to have kids by midway Week 3 and that's fast approaching.

By the way, you can sell Yasmine's harvested food to earn more money. I had a gardener sim who had mastered gardening skill, and he grown 100 apples and sold them for more than 6,000 simoleons.

I have about Three main Sims so I suppose I could share all of them, but not all at once.  ;)

My Sim is called Rabbit Character, she is the Sixth Generation of my Legacy. his House was built when she and her twin had aged up into Teenagers, it is one of my favourite ones they have had. She lives a comfortable life and does not have to worry about Money. Her Mother is a International Super Spy (Lvl10 I think) and her Father is a Self Employed Author who joined the career late in his life and doesn't have any chance or enthusiasm in more promotions. Her Grandmother was a Five Star Chef and her Grandfather was a Firefighter/Martial-artist. She has Three other Brothers and a Twin Sister, her Brother Dasterdly is a Business guy and recently aged into YA. Her other two brothers are twins and both are Athletically inclined, her twin is an Artist. She is now married to a nice man who also wants to be a cook. She herself is the complete opposite of her Mother and wants to be The Emperor of Evil. She is now expecting her first child. Below is the picture of her House with her Twin Sister Penelope leaving for a new life with her own Husband in a house across town.

(It's much bigger than this I just didn't have a picture of it anywhere...?)

Below is herself and her husband:

(Before you ask I do not follow all the Legacy Rules but I don't use any money cheats just Building ones - Apart from Buydebug. Alex is a Custom Sim, it was either him or some Hippo and I can't travel because I have a very bad travel bug in this Legacy.)

Before the Sims 3 I never played without cheats and never fully experienced the game.  One day I just decided I was going to play a family who had to achieve Evey lifetime wish before I could move onto the next expansion   I decided to cut out the more boring ones like max out athletic, etc.

My family is a matriarchal legacy where only the eldest daughter can inherit.  I am on generation 21 now, seriously.  I don't even know how many hours I have put into this family.  I'm kicking myself for not starting a legacy blog, but I do keep a detailed family tree on MS Word and I take screenshots in CAS of every Sim born into my house at every age level.  I just installed World Adventures and High End Loft Stuff and my current heir is attempting to achieve Bottomless Nectar lifetime wish.  It is such a huge temptation install all the other EPs and SPs but I want to enjoy everything and not rush through it.

Here is a picture of my current heir:

Her name is Tessa Lexington.  I'm hoping to find her a husband in France to father generation 22!

Excitable
Bookworm
Green Thumb
Technophobe
Vegetarian

Here is a shot of their house before WA and HEL.

I've changed a few things since installing WA and HEL and am currently in the process of building them a mansion.  They want for nothing!  :)  The house is worth $500,000.  I had to put all of the gems and a lot of paintings I'm not using in the family inventory because some of the paintings from the first couple generations are worth up to $14,000 and wreaking havoc on my bills.  Now their bills are a reasonable $5000 twice a week.  They have about $2 million in real estate and $5.5 million in the bank.  I am hoping to get it to $10 million before I get to Late Night so when I move them to Bridgeport they will be true celebrities!

Oh and the Sim in my avatar and my sig is my founder, Aurora.

*Edited to fix my broken Photobucket link.  Sorry!

6000 simoleans!? That's insane! But yeah thanks, I always forget about that, mostly they just get eaten as snacks. :)

If you think 6000$ is crazy, then (if you have Ambitions installed) sell the harvest through the Consignment Store. It will give you up to 20,000$ every day, if your Sim is catching Deathfish (Graveyard, 12:00 AM - 4(5) AM at night) regularly and most of her harvest is of outstanding/perfect quality. You can become a billionaire by just selling tons of life fruit and Deathfish. Be careful though, Consignment Store gets bugged once you put lots of stuff at once for sale. I recommend cleaning out your Sim's inventory regularly too. Otherwise, it will take ages for the list to open.
If you want to keep some of the harvest for cooking, divide your garden into 2 parts: for selling and for cooking. Note that the moodlet lasts only 8 hours and then it's gone. Be sure to save some life fruit and Deathfish for Ambrosia. I always keep some in the fridge or inventory.
As of the lifetime wish of your Sim, I think you know that it requires to have 8 perfect plants simultaneously in your garden. This means that you can't throw away deathflower plant of perfect quality and count it as one of the 8. You should have all the 8 at mature life state too. It may take a while. My Sim managed to achieve it in the 6th game week only. And that by not doing anything but gardening.

@Filly - I'm impressed! The longest count of generations I had was 7-8 gens. Your Sim is very pretty (heir 21). And their house is amazing. My houses always look like big boxes/trashcans. It's a shame I don't have one to show you. *remembering: take a photo of Katy's house*  :)

I sold the fruits through my inventory, but my sim had joined Gardener career, so I think he got a boost. And what I sold was 700 apples that grew from the 100 trees I planted, fertilized with nice quality lettuce. :D

@Filly: Very nice household, and very nice sim. If you are having problem with the bills, you can purchase 'No Bills Ever' Lifetime Reward. If you wish, you can also post the screenshot of the inside of house. ;)

Your Sim can become a millionaire with money trees, specially with that amount. Just check scores on first challenge and it's amazing.

On subject, I rarely play stories. My first Sim was a writer/gardener/angler, she was writting in her garden next to Stony Falls (outdoor loving). Built her a nice home and Sekemoto was her good friend ready for romance, and I left her there. Next I had Evil Sim, who I deleted, just didn't like his delightfullness over other Sim misery.
After that, practically all of my Sims were adventurers. All mastered martial arts, defeated all available mummies, collected all relics there are, had friends all over the world. But usually something happen and I never made a family (only family was a dynasty). And I always turn aging off. Love seeing them young and beautiful and successfull.

Now I'm in a building process with a lot of help from my two Sims, Jet Lee oriented to collecting and adventuring, and Eve Eden is working on garden and art related skills. Maybe I'll have them live in this new little tropical world they help me build, we'll see. For now, they are goal oriented and working as slaves, so no real story there.

Priyansh - I completely forgot about the No Bills reward!  That's another 10,000 a week in my bank account. I'll get an overhead shot of the two levels when I get home from work but its a pretty large house (4 bedroom, 6 bathrooms, and 6 other rooms for various functions. I dont want to clutter up your thread and take away from the topic. :)

TheChronicR - Thanks for the compliment. I still think it looks like a box. I'm not very good at roofs yet but I enjoy the learning process. I have to say despite the recent glitches/problems with the game and the lack of interactions I'd have to say the Sims 3 is my favorite before Sims 2, only because I've never been successful at a legacy. I never dreamed I'd make it as far as I did but I am very attached to my "little" family and want to keep going with them for as long as I can.

A little further on my daily play:  As mentioned it is the women in the family who tackle the lifetime wishes so they are always busy with work or skills. I try to find them husbands with the Neat and Family Oriented traits to help keep the house clean and look after the nooboos and will use their reward points to change their Lifetime Wish to the Swimming In Cash and then send them to collect the money earned at businesses so they can achieve it fast. I usually let the women eat Watermelon during their first pregnancy to guarentee my heir. I don't try for other children after that until both the mother and the father get the wish for another baby. It just feels more realistic to me and after 20+ generations I'm a litte weary of raising nooboos!
