Fireman Stuck in Lot
« on: February 10, 2011, 03:51:32 AM »
My Sims house caught fire from the fireplace. The fireman came and had a very, very difficult time putting it out. In fact, the fire was never put out at all!  What I had to do was to summon the lifetime reward "Make house fireproof" from one of the Sims household member in order to make the fire stop. After that, no more fires. BUT the fireman is stuck in the house!!! The fire truck was stuck in front of their house, even up to now that I have stopped the game, exited and resumed the game. What to do? How do I get the fireman off the lot? Pls. help! Thanks!  :-[

You have a couple of options:

1.  Ctrl-shift-C then type "ResetSim Firstname Lastname" without the quotes.
2.  Turn on testing cheats with ctrl-shift-C "testingcheatsenabled true" without the quotes.  Shift-click the fireman then delete.  Repeat for fire truck.  Turn off testing cheats with ctrl-shirt-C "testingcheats enabled false" without quotes.

One of those should work.

If in future this happens, use the cheats Pam noted. Besides that, you didn't need to waste 30 thousand happiness points. I believe you could delete the fire flames using moveobjects, as well.

The fire truck is parking on the street right? How could you than click on it, if the street is not a part of your lot?

Thanks! Yeah, I wasted a good 30,000 worth of reward points...The Sims were in a panic since the fire won;t be put out, It didn't occur to me use moveobjects. I'll try the cheats Pam wrote down, I will also try to use moveobjects with the fireman and see what happens, I hope the actions won't ruin the lot gameplay since that family has a perfect garden and I would hate to move out from there. :(

Cheats are completely harmless. You can use them as many times as you like. Mods and bad custom content harm the game. Anyway, be careful not to delete other objects. Remember: moveobjects can delete ANYTHING.

As TheChronicR says, cheats are completely harmless. It's up to you whether you play the game with cheats or not - such as the motherlode. I personally don't play with cheats, unless I have a specific story in mind. However some of the cheats are indispensable. The resetsims cheat for example. And I love the moveobjects cheat as it gives you so much more freedom when building houses. For example, if you want to create a rock garden, you can put the rocks a lot closer to each other than if you didn't have the cheat on, and you can place plants inbetween the rocks so it looks like the plants are growing from the cracks in the rock like they would in real life.

I used to have a serious problem with cheats, and refused to use them under any circumstance.  However, I have to agree with everyone here in that in this particular version of the Sims, cheats are sometimes helpful or even indispensable.  The "resetSim" cheat is absolutely vital at times, and with my purchase of the Castle Kit from the Sims Store, "moveObjects" has become somewhat of a necessity.  But even without that kit, the game gets goofy sometimes, and thinks an object is still in use when the sim using it is off doing something else entirely, and moveObjects is the only way to fix it.

And I've recently discovered just how helpful it can be in story telling, too.

..., I hope the actions won't ruin the lot gameplay since that family has a perfect garden and I would hate to move out from there. :(

If that ever happens, try saving the lot (without family) to the library. Than place it back in game and move the family back. In my case the problems are mostly solved than.

I have solved the problem finally.  The reset sim did not work, there was an error message saying: " reset - unidentified command  " or something like that. So, I tried the moveobjects on, I deleted the fireman then he returned one more time in full gear even if there was no fire, took off with the fire truck, and he never returned again.  :)

The reset sim did not work, there was an error message saying: " reset - unidentified command  " or something like that.

Unidentified command means that the game didn't recognize the code you put in.  Entering codes is a very specific process.  The codes themselves are case sensitive.  That code is very handy, so for future reference, you type it exactly like this:

resetSim Bella Goth

That would send Bella Goth to her home lot in a neutral position (standing by the mailbox, for example) with neutral motives...essentially making her "safe."

Also, if you enter the code correctly but misspell the name of the sim, you don't get an error message.  The code will be "accepted" but will have no affect on the game.

I had a stuck firefighter too. She came, put out the fire, and then wouldn't leave. She kept asking for my celebrity Sim's autograph, and having thoughts of him. She went skinny dipping in their hot tub. I had his girlfriend steal the firefighters clothes, and the firefighter (shameless hussy) hung around the house in a towel. She ate everything the butler put out, in the formal dining room, wearing a towel.  I didn't see her sleeping at any point, and she was there for about a week. I tried resetSim on her and it didn't do anything. I threw a party, and when it was over she left with the other guests. Finally!

Wow, what a patience test for you that must been. :P A very funny story, although I understand you've must have been nearby desperate at the end of the week.
I have no answer for you what to do. I have a brave sim in the family who has been a fire fighter himself so he took out all the fires, beating up all the burglars so there are simply no disasters that can ruing op anything.
Maybe such a sim could be something for you?

I once had a stuck newspaper delivery girl when my sim asked her to 'hang out' but she was trying to get in my sim's house so I locked the door to
'Everyone but my household' so she would not raid the fridge for food, I excepted her to walk away at nighttime but she stayed moaning for food, the next day she was moaning about being very hungry, I ignored this until the night where I came to this forum looking for help, then I tried
resetsim and it worked without disturbing my sleeping sims :) thanks for whoever suggested resetsim

If something like that happens in one of my game i would keep the firefighter a few more weeks, it's awesome how many different things he did. Lovely story.

Basic Twallan mods are really useful for stuck sims (between other things.)
