New take on guitar skill
« on: February 06, 2011, 03:52:17 PM »
Hi everyone. Long-time lurker. I haven't seen this particular method of building up the number of performances in the guitar skill yet.

Once I maxed the skill, I found that if you go to the map view, pause the game, then cue up the perform action, the game will automatically stop the performances like you normally would when doing the exploit. Only takes about 40 sim minutes to do this too.  ;)

Great tip. Not having to manually cancel each cue would save a lot of headache.

Thanks for the welcome. I stumbled across this nugget as I was looking for one of the other sims in my house after I had started the exploit. Worked out really great.

Indeed. Have you tried playing for tips in a subway yet? It's insane!  :D It's one of those things you hate to love. It's like, "c'mon, EA this is really broken...no wait, please don't fix it!"

OMG!! I think I made like 50,000 simoleans in about 8 hours after only 104 performances. I went from the little cabin by the bridge to one of the condos in one day after that.  ;D

Do you know why it cancels it automatically?

I'm not sure. It does count each performance you have cued toward the performance total. I just saw another post where someone said thay put subways in Sunset Valley. I could see putting one outside my sims house and another near the park or any other area I use for skill building. Fast transportation, and my sim could play for tips in the subway right outside his home.

How exactly do you do the performances exploit in Map View?  I queued up 8 performances for my Sim, then went to Map View.  I didn't cancel them and it seemed that she played the full composition.  I fast forwarded through each one of them and the 8 performances took close to 3 Sim hours.  Am I missing something?

I'm playing Late Night. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I had cued up several songs in the normal view in bridgeport and several of the performances cancelled on their own. I also had testing cheats on. That might be the reason. You should be in map view before you cue up the songs. That has worked for me. Takes less than an hour to do all the performances, and you don't have to manually cancel them.

Do you mean queue up say 7 Performances then go to Map View and then add on another Performance in Map View, which then makes them stop?

I think you must queue the performances while in map view.

Naga is correct. You must be in map view while cueing up the perfermances.

You all mentioned playing for tips in the subway.  How do you do that?  The subway is basically a rabbit hole so how would you play for tips in there?

And for the other part, you HAVE to have testingcheats on in order for it to work?  That would make it a no-no for most challenges then but would be fun just for play purposes.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

To play for tips in the subway, your Sim has to be on the lot with the subway entrance.  Then click it and you'll have the option to play for tips.  As for the other part, what other part do you mean?

No you don't need to have testingcheats enabled for this to work. This is just another way to do the exploit. You won't have to manually cancel performances as they begin. They will cancel themselves automatically. Saves a lot of clicking and watching for your sim to start the performance.

On a side note, I finally managed to complete the guitar star challenge. My God whatta pain. As a reward I had my sim Jimi Ray Van Zappa marry Bella Bachelor. They are very happy living by the ocean in Kobias Gofi's old house  8)
