Question - Conversation Ballons
« on: February 04, 2011, 12:44:30 PM »
While I was playing Simmies this morning. I noticed something kind of strange. My sim person was getting her friend's toddler out of the crib, cause he was awake and fussy. And a conversation balloon of a person looking through a window (window and person were in red with a white background) popped up while my sim person was holding the toddler.

This particular conversation balloon has appeared before. I thought it might be because the toddler couldn't see out the window - due to window blinds covering the windows?

So I tried something. I had my sim person take the toddler outside the house. Just to see what would happen. The conversation balloon did the same thing-ish = a conversation balloon of a person looking through a window. But this time the window and person were in blue with a white background.

It has totally baffled me as to what these conversation balloons could be saying. Does anyone know what might be going on? And if there's a guide to what conversation balloons there are in Sims 3 as well as what they mean?

Thank you, :)

If it is the one I think it is, it is the social need indicator.  Whoever had the balloon is/was lonely.

Tjsmetana is right - someone's social need was very low, probably the toddler.

If the balloon is blue, it means normal loneliness.  If it's red, it means desperate loneliness.  There's also a bug or glitch regarding toddler loneliness.  If it's not your Sim's baby, nothing you can do will make the little tyke feel better.  It's best to just leave them alone, unfortunately.

So it's yet another glitch? *Shakes Head*

Hubby was mentioning that it might have something to do with the toddler or my sim person's social being low. I usually play with aging off and testingcheatsenabled on - Make all happy and Make Needs Static. So I didn't think that'd be the case, at least with my sim person. However, might still be loneliness on the part of the toddler, like what's being said.

Thank you for your answers, :)

Bringing the toddler to where family members are would not help?  I know parents can and do ignore the kiddies but maybe being in the same room would help?
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Actually it doesn't help, and even just holding the baby/toddler won't increase their social.  Only actual activities work to increase.  I had one generation where the baby was never put down but her social never increased unless they performed actions with her, which they would do just enough to get the baby out of the red but not enough to fill up her bar.
