Marrying a Townie
« on: February 04, 2011, 03:34:27 AM »
My Sim would like to marry or just have a baby with the maid.  They have the "love interest" relationship symbol, but the "propose to move in" or the "try for baby" does not appear (in this case, there is a message saying that she is in household that has too many people in it) , although when I researched her residence, she really does not have any.  Is there a way I can have her marry my Sim or that they can move in and have a baby? Thanks! :)

You have to build up the relationship meter to get the option to move in. Or you could continue to build on the romantic relationship and have them go steady then propose marriage then get married.
Maids and other NPC do not have houses so they cannot try for a baby until they move in to your house.

You can also look for the Ask to Move In option under friendly interactions.  If your Sim has a high relationship with the other and does enough interactions, it should show up.  If all that fails, try using testingcheatsenabled true, then shift click on the maid and add her to your household.

Part of the problem is that you get no indication of how the maid is feeling from her side of the relationship ... although we have successfully married a Sim to the maid in the past.  In her case we knew she has 'Commitment Issues' but we got there in the end.  It was very hard work, but we wanted her to do a lot of work around the house and especially in the huge produce garden.

One option might be to "Invite Over" and "Try for Baby" using a sarcophagus [needs no preamble, so quicker than trying to do it nicely  ;D].  I have no idea how the resulting pregnancy sorts out any residential issues though.

Oooooh, Pam ... you CHEAT  ;D

Townies are actually pretty neat to marry or move in, especially since maids have the neat trait.  I don't have to to tell them to clean all of the time. :)  What alot of people do not realize, you have to do at least 4 or 5 friendly interactions before move in will come up.  I did not realize this for quite some time.  So if you have been doing alot of romantic interactions, you need to switch to friendly to get that move in option to fire. ;D

Also a lot of NPC, especially maids, Are good looking they add a good mix. The quickest way to move someone in is spam on some friendly interactions until in the top left it says that they think your Sim is being Sociable or Friendly. The option to ask to move in will come up then in Friendly Interactions.

Hey, now!  Just because I know how to cheat doesn't mean I cheat.  ;D

You don't need a sarcophagus to try for baby quickly.  Your Sim can just relax on the bed, then click the target Sim.  You should get the option to woohoo or try for baby straightaway.

Back on topic ... using the bed option surely requires the participant to have the "Fred is being extremely alluring" or whatever before the woo-hoo option comes up on the menu.  In other words, there has to have been a degree of "romantic interaction" to build up from "Fred is OK".

However, using the sarcophagus, all you need to do is select "Woo-hoo with xxxx" from the drop-down list.  No previous romantic interactions needed  ;)

My sims can just go straight to relax on the bed and go straight to WooHoo and Try for Baby from there, without any prior Romantic Interactions.  :-\

This confuses me. Will the descendants of maids have the makes no messes hidden trait after moving the maid in? If no, then how to get this trait? I'm going to start a family with lots of Sims with hidden traits, so I'm curious.

Can't help there ... we've never used a Maid for breeding purposes.  They have a few tiresome traits, like OCD cleaning and kleptomania.  Best not, eh?  They're staff, and best kept at a distance  ;D

We did make a very successful marriage with the Cafe lady from France ... she made a great cook, and was much more elegant than the maids  ;)

Nope, it's the same with the bed.  No romantic interactions are needed.

I don't think it matters if the maid moves in.  The children still have the same chance of getting the no messes hidden trait.

Cafe lady eh?  Hmmmm.  Wonder if she's available at the moment.  I have a recently grieving dynasty dude in need of a new, temporary, wife.

While I've done this, if they're not in the proper mood my sim gets a sharp kick to the shin after they crawl up on the bed.

They have a few tiresome traits, like OCD cleaning and kleptomania.  Best not, eh?

These are traits I don't find all that tiresome.  Once I marry in the maid, I discontinue the cleaning service:  no need to buy milk when you have the llama at home (can you milk a llama?).  And with kleptomania you can really make the new spouse carry his/her end of the log by making them a freelance car thief.
