The time soon came for our little toddlers to age up.

First was Jupiter, our dynasties heir.

Then Orion, then Aries.

Aries really has his mothers eyes.
Jupiter became a snob, Orion became an angler and Aries became a vegetarian.

Agnes was just finishing up her 25th ice sculpture as the kids were aging up. She has just missed out on sculpting Jupiter as a toddler.
She came crying to me, feeling as though she had failed the whole dynasty. I hugged her and assured her that one ice sculpture wasn't anything to worry about, and that she was in no way a failure.
Even when she cries, I still find my Agnes beautiful.

The next day, Agnes set to work twice as hard.
She sculpted a brilliant replica of me, and then also finished my young adult portrait.

I was so proud of Agnes' efforts, that I decided I wanted to buy her something to celebrate.
I thought on it for a while, unsure of what I wanted to do.
Then an idea popped into my head. I got on the phone, and over $30,000 later..

I had bought and fully upgraded Summer Hills Springs for my dear wife.

I always make my Sims eyes slightly larger than normal. I think it looks cute.
And I'm sorry to say, but I think Mercury is quite in love with Agnes :D

Now that we owned Summer Hills Springs and had it completely updated, we were pretty short on money. So I spent most of my days working in the garden and collecting seeds.
They say money can't grow on trees, but just between you and me, I think I've found they can.

The kids grew so quickly - it was hard to keep up.
Jupiter spends a lot of time painting. She says she wants to be just like her mummy when she grows up.

Jupiter and Aries are very close, as their personalities are quite similar.
They spend almost all of their time together.

They visit the art museum together, eat together, sit on the bus together and study together.

Orion, on the other hand, likes his solitude. He tends to study alone.

On the weekends, the kids take a break from their tedious homework and spend some time with friends. Jupiter is quite the social butterfly, and holds "tag parties" with all of her class mates. Although having 13 noisy kids running around the house is nerve-racking, I put up with it for my little daughter.

The days rolled on, and I was suddenly faced with my adult birthday. I had a small gathering of friends to celebrate the occasion.

As I was standing in front of my cake, ready to blow out the candles, Davey Linell yelled out "Make a wish!".
It got me thinking... I have a beautiful family, a beautiful house, a lovely life. What else could I want?

And then it struck me.
I had all these lovely things in my life, and I was neglecting them for a dream of immortality.
Why, oh why would I want to be immortal and watch my loved ones pass away while I live on endlessly?
I closed my eyes and wished:

"I wish to live a normal life; grow old with Agnes, see my kids grow up and get married, and pass from this life when it's my time".

Jupiter doesn't know about the Immortal Dynasty yet, but I'm sure if she did there may have been a bit more fuss!

The next day, I was going about my usual business, when I heard a scream from out front porch. Agnes' sister Cornelia was passing from this world.

As I mourned for her, I heard someone call my name. I looked up in awe.
There stood the Grim Reaper.
I walked over cautiously. The Grim Reaper was death impersonated. I didn't want to get too close.

Grim: Mercury, I come bearing news. I've been looking for an excuse to visit you for a while.

Mercury: News? What news?
I was now very worried.

Grim: You are going to complete the Immortal Dynasty.
Mercury: No, I said I'd put a stop to it. I won't live and watch my family pass before my eyes.
Grim: You'd rather them suffer a fate worse than death?

Mercury: No.. I.. What? What do you mean a fate worse than death?
Grim: You have in your possession a book named "The Immortal Dynasty", do you not?
I stared at him. How did he know?
Mercury: Yes.. I found it as a child...
Grim: Exactly. You've read it, cover to cover, more than once. You know the secret to Immortality.
Mercury: Yes, I do, but that doesn't mean I need to go through with it.

Grim: Oh yes it does. Think, Mercury. Where did you find that book?
Mercury: I was ten, and on a holiday with my family. I found it behind a statue of some Roman god.

Grim: "That wasn't any Roman god. That was Hades, the lord of the underworld. And it wasn't by chance that you stumbled across the book. Hades had your fate planned since you were born.
Hades was also known by another name - Pluto.
You see, it's not a coincidence that you are named Mercury. The god Mercury, also known as Hermes, was a messenger of the gods.
Hades is not like the other gods. Hades has only death in his mind. Since your birth, he has planned your demise. He lives to claim the souls of the living so that they may live under his rule.

"One who reads the book seals his fate in a bond to the underworld.
If you fail in your task, Hades will not only claim your soul, but the souls of your love, your children, your grandchildren and even their children.
Your whole family line will become slaves to the will of Hades. It is a fate worse than death.

"However, the other gods believe otherwise. They believe that you can complete this task; you can create an immortal dynasty.
And by doing so, you will defeat Hades and he will never again claim an innocent soul.

You, Mercury, are the messenger of the Gods."

Mercury: I.. I don't know what to say.

I was honestly shocked. I was a messenger from the gods, sent to earth to defeat the evil Hades of the underworld.
But I knew. I now knew that it wasn't an option. To protect my family I had to make big sacrifices.
But they were my family, and for them I would do anything.

I love the way you have given Mercury a reason to complete the immortal dynasty.

Thanks Rachel.
I'm the kind of person that gets really into things, and I'm a little OCD. I just couldn't keep playing my game until I had a solid reason for Mercury to want to go through with the whole Immortal Dynasty.

Yes, I did use fertility treatment with Mercury, but I wasn't expecting triplets - I had been hoping for twins.
It got pretty tough, and I didn't get to teach one of the triplets all of the skills, but he aged up with the vegetarian trait which isn't too bad.
