Is there anyother way to have mixed gender twins if there is no doctors in town to determin the gender of the first baby?

You can have mixed gender twins without any special actions now.

The times when I have had mixed gender twins or triplets without any outside intervention usually involved having the mum to be watching a lot of kids tv and obviously not eating any of apples or watermelons.
I just got mixed gender triplets in my decadynasty and the mum had the fertility treatment and watched kids tv quite a lot. She got a girl,a boy and a girl ghost.

There is a chance to get twins without asking for them.  It's in the game coding to be a slim but actual occurence.  It happened to Pam in her Dynasty.   Somewhere in the last couple of patches, I think it was Pets, something in the code changed so that you wouldn't always get the same gender twins.

Just thought I'd share-

In earlier posts there was talk about how many apples or watermelons your sim needed to eat to get the wanted gender, and well, for me one always does the trick. One time I had a really poor family, the mother did daycare (lvl one) and the father was just starting his journalism career. They had like less than 10 simoleans most of the time but both wanted a baby girl desperately. So they whoohooed and I heard the chimes. Since they didn't have much money I sent the mom to the grocery store. They could only afford one watermelon and they had to give up feeding the dog for a few days to buy it. The mom ate it and she had a girl. Since then all my moms have eaten just one of the fruits and they get the gender of my desire. I don't think there's any percentage rate or anything, just you eat an apple and you get a boy or you eat a watermelon and get a girl. My suspicion is that's just how the game works.

That definitely isn't true. I've had recent failures with 8-10 of the correct fruit, and I have about a 40% failure rate with three fruit. You definitely have to eat more than one to be certain - it seems you just have a skewed failure rate.

Maybe, but what I posted was mostly my opinion on the matter. I've played the sims 3 for over a year now and nearly all my games are a couple who want a lot of kids. I've always used one fruit and it's always worked for me.

It's in the game code that 10 (I think it's that number.. Definitely multiple, anyway) watermelons make 100% chance of a girl and same with apples for a boy. It's literally in the game code - one doesn't do it, you just got lucky.

This is something I personally want to get to the bottom of. I've seen on multiple sites conflicting information - at SimsWiki, the chance is increased by 10% every time you eat a fruit to a maximum of 50%. I'm researching this thoroughly.

Edit: I've done.

The chance increases by 10% in the favorable gender every time you eat a fruit.

The base chance is 0.5 to get a boy or a girl - the equivalent of flipping a coin. Every time you eat an apple, the chance for a boy is skewed - so if the coin is Heads for Boys and Tails for girls, it's like altering the head to be more likely to land upright. The same goes for girls.
So if I ate 3 apples, then the chance for a boy would be 50+10+10+10 - or 80%.
Long story short, to guarantee a baby boy, you need to only eat 5 apples, and to guarantee a baby girl, 5 watermelons.

Thanks, Seabody! I knew it was some multiple, but it's good to finally know the exact figure!

Huh. Guess I've always been lucky. I've never had to eat more than one for all my games to get my desired gender. But it's cool that people have researched this and all.
