Elevator Queston
« on: February 01, 2011, 03:43:29 PM »
Okay so Ambitions brought us Friezes and Late Night brought us Elevators, do the two mix?

I have a couple different lots I've been working on and I've encountered an issue and i"m wondering if there is a solution around anywhere.

Elevators as we know will go down through foundations into the basement without any problems; however, if a level of Friezes is above the first floor the elvator will not o to the second floor.  It seems jto think that the Friezes area level of their own.  I tired dropping an elevator shaft on the frieze level and that does work however the shaft shows up on the 2nd floor when the elevator doors open.

Is there any way around this problem?

mmm, I don't usually use elevators, but you have raised my interest. I'm going to have a play and see what I can or can't do. I'll let you know if i discover anything.

**edit**
OK, I got an elevator to go from the ground up to the first floor, through a frieze using cheats, BUT, when the door opens on the floor above the frieze, you can see the elevator shaft inside and when the door is closed, there are a few lines visible. Also, when the sim uses the elevator, they just pass through this piece af shaft as if it wasn't there.
The elevator seems to function as normal (I need to do a little bit more testing) but it's not very aesthetically pleasing.

What are Friezes?

Friezes are like foundations, but are placed above a floor.

I had this same issue when I was working on my abandoned nectary.  I DID place the shaft in the space under the main building which basically acted like a frieze.  Later I thought, "hmmm, what would happen if I took that out?"  I figured the elevator would no longer work.  However, it did.  It seemed to assume the shaft was still there.  Don't know if that would work in your situation but give it a try and see if it does.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
