Is this a glitch or what?
« on: January 30, 2011, 06:53:16 PM »
I am having extreme difficulty keeping my sims mood up. I get all of his needs maxed and he has zero negative moodlets and 3 or 4 positive moodlets, but yet his mood is still red or almost non existent. What gives? I even started a new game...The only custom mod I have is a no censor blur. I did have a notepad that lets you write novels but I took it out because I thought that was causing the issue (because the issue didn't start till i added it) However my wife has her own save file and that seems to not be affected by this problem...

My new game didn't have any problems at first but now it seems like it is.

This has come up numerous times in other threads. Make sure your Sims are using the best beds and then shut down your computer and restart.

So it's got something to do with the beds?

So it's got something to do with the beds?

I've never experienced the bug myself, but apparently, yes — that's a possible trigger. And players on this forum have confirmed that switching to higher quality beds has fixed the problem for them.

When it happens to me, I just restart the game.

Also, Ambiesboy, be careful when mentioning mods here.  You're ok this time.  Just be sure you don't mention them by name or link to them, per the Forum Rules (link in my signature below).

This is a glitch that is somehow related to beds with a lower comfort value.  They apparently give a flawed "well rested" moodlet.  And every time you get this moodlet, your sims mood crashes even further.

As Pam said, it is easily fixed by saving the game, exiting to the main menu and reloading the game.  As soon as time starts moving for your sim, his or her mood will return to where it should be.

And a way to avoid it altogether is to simply buy a better bed.  Any bed that has three "+" next to the well rested moodlet symbol in the upper right hand corner of the description will not cause this (it won't fix it either, if the bug has already happened).  At least some of the beds with two "+" don't cause this either, but while I haven't tried many of them, I can't say for sure if this covers them all...but it most likely does.

Usually, if I'm to the point to where I'm upgrading the beds, I'm going all out.  :P

Just to let you know that simply using a better bed doesn't prevent the bug from happening for everyone - but saving, exiting and reloading does fix it (at least in my experience).  My dynasty hood suffered from it, and I put it down to the cheap bed my sim slept in in the beginning because she was so poor.  So when I started one of the challenge hoods, I made sure to get an expensive bed right from the beginning - it didn't matter, my sim still got the motive dive every so often and I had to shut down.

Did the challenge bed have a comfort level of +++?  Just because it's expensive doesn't always mean it's comfortable enough to prevent the bad mood from happening.  I'm not certain it has to be +++, but it's a reasonable theory.

Pretty weird, I had a sim who I have sent to the most luxury lot I've created myself to let them enjoy all the great moodlets ingame I've could give them. Even a high comfortable bed. Seems even that didn't help. I have removed the save file after I didn't find any solution, but it seems that the bed don't always help.

The lot I was talking about is a residental one. Maybe that does ring a bell for someone.

After a bit of testing, I've noticed that very few beds with a ++ rating prevented the mood crash.  In fact, the only ones that did were the twin beds that have a double bed of the same style with a +++ rating (the Monodreamer, the Sophisticate, and the Iconic Ionic Twin Bed).  Likewise, I've never had one with a +++ rating that caused this glitch.
