I prefer Sunset Valley because all of the places are more centralized (except the stadium, science facility, and military base, which is fine because I rarely ever go there) while Riverview has half of its places across the river from the other half.

Ok, I am going to be the odd one, but I play Riverview.  I thought it was so beautiful initially, and I have been stuck in the countryside ever since.

(Although I sure do miss the beaches in Sunset Valley and some of the community lots are better, too).

Eventually, I will play Sunset Valley again--like I did the first few days of the game--but I am such a slow player (I can't multi-task very well with my sims--LOL and I take breaks from the game often), that I haven't explored everything that I want to yet in Riverview.  It might be awhile...   :D

Even though I am from the Bay Area, and you can't get more city-boy than that, I have always had a thing for the country. I spend more time in Missouri and Arkansas (visiting family) than a Californian should. :p

I love the feel of Riverview. I love the layout of the land, and I like the country-feel to it.

I will steal Mistletoe's line of, "I am the odd one."

Sunset, as I was used to it. When I downloaded Riverview, I wasn't used to it at all.

I am going to be the dissenter here.  I love Sunset Valley with the beaches and yes it seems they knocked themselves out making it.  But I've been playing Riverview for a long time now and I gotta say that the fishing is certainly easier.  I love the idea of the fish hatchery and picking out which pond to fish in for just that right kind of fish.  (In SV you gotta run simmie legs off to get to the right spot for, especially the dumb clownfish.  ::))  The beach in SV is gorgeous, with the lighthouse and all, but I have my little simmie Renee and hubby Jon on a big lot with a view overlooking the river that has a beautiful moodlet that goes with the beautiful view.  :D  Riverview is definitely farm town, USA whereas SV is beach town, USA.  I love both equally.  :)

Wow...when i first started reading this post I was thinking I was gonna be the odd woman out because I prefer Riverview. Luckily a few others were brave enough to stand up to the Sunset Valley fanatics!  :P

Honestly, I love the look of Riverview. I love the rivers and the downtown area and the designs of a lot of the houses (though SV has a lot of interesting ones too). I play it so much that I can't even remember what SV was like....

Sunset Valley, hands down. It's much more socialistic in my opinion, as in more places to socialize AND more people seem to come out of their houses in Sunset Valley.

Agreed. For guitar players making a living playing for tips, Riverview is quite the letdown compared to the Sunset Valley theatre traffic on a weekend.

But, Riverview has a certain appeal that's undeniable. It was a perfect match for the Bottomless Nectar Cellar Lifetime Wish I recently wrote — a nice, quite rural setting: ideal for nectar making.

Yeah, Riverview does have that appeal to it, but after playing through several generations on two different legacies, one in each town, I definitely have to pick SV for legacies, challenges, or games when I'm not gardening a lot of the time.

The eternal question: Sunset Valley or Riverview?

Please comment the pro's and con's of both cities, as well as the items included in each, people and there personalities, and layout as well as look of the buildings in the towns.

On another note: which is better for necter making specifically?

I merged this top with an existing topic that has already discussed Sunset Valley vs. Riverview.

As for Nectar Making, I don't see that it would matter which town you use.  Both will grow the same crops and allow you to build a basement.  Nothing else to it, really.

I know, but which has more of a "feel" to it

A "nectar-making" feel? Riverview. It's just a beautiful rural town that's perfect. Now, that said in the upcoming Belly Up to This Challenge which is all about nectar making I may go with Sunset Valley only because of the # of Sims served score that will be part of that challenge. Riverview just seems so dead. But, if someone convinces me I can have full parties of 10 Sims in Riverview, then that's where I want to be.

I'm pretty sure you can, Metro, as long as you know the people there.  There are several standard families in Riverview, just like in Sunset Valley.  I haven't played Riverview since World Adventures came out, but I imagine the tourists can now be found there as well.

Sunset!, I hate all the fields in Riverview. Plus the beaches in Sunset are pretty cool. And the Gym is better.
