Learn photography skill without travelling?

Hiya there,
I'm doing the Immortal Challenge and since this is my third go, I'm still in the 1st-generation phase.
I wanted to add photographs  to my Immortal Museum, but I realised, since I cannot travel until
my second gen is a YA, I can't learn the photography skill, and I need a camera which is only, to my knowledge, available overseas.
Is there any way around this, without cheats?
Otherwise, using cheats will be fine, if that's the only way. I can make a compromise in this sort of situation.

In consignment store you can find camera and the book for first 3 levels. Keep checking what's available in consignment store, and maybe buy or consign something to speed up spawning new items there.

To add info to Anushka; for in case you didn't knew it, the stuff the consignment store sells changes every day.

I haven't had a consignment shop that changed their inventory every day, Leto. Mine have been about every 3 days or so. Perhaps if you buy 1 or 2 things, but if left alone it takes a couple days for new things to show up.

thanks for your replies, but it sounds like you need ambitions to be able to take photos without travelling.
I don't (yet!) have Ambitions, so no consignment store unfortunately. Is there any other way at all?

Without Ambitions and the consignment store, I think you'll have to wait until your second generation is a YA and your Sims can travel. Sorry.

Uhm... Wait, yeah, there is one more solution I think. You could invite visitors from over sea. If you add them to your household (without cheating) maybe one of them could have on in their inventory.

And with fishing you could fish up a laptop, so maybe there are changes to get a camera also.

And how about digging throu thrashcans? You could try that with eighter a snobby sim, of with a sim in the police career.

You have to travel to meet people before you can invite them to visit.

Unless you meet them in your home town.  In Sunset Valley, foreign visitors often turn up in Central Park or the library.

Apologies if this is the wrong place, but don't photos taken with the cell phone count?  They can be displayed, just as those from a camera, and I haven't yet taken one that has been ruined by my sim putting his thumb in front of the lens.

I don't think photos from the phone have any value.

The photos from the phone don't increase photography skill.  Nor do they go toward the photo collections.

Those photos are only practical for personal collection (you, as player) or for a reminder for your sim to paint the picture on a easle.
