I know it's been a while since I was in this topic but I haven't forgot about the Millionaire Mansion. Not at all actually.
Though in my head I've decimated the rooms and their purpose dramastically, for rendering reasons.

The layout for the following mansion is first completely designed for skilling, connecting each rooms in the most logical way to each other so the total layout can take up as less space as possible, while still providing sims with everything.

FIRST FLOOR
This mansion will be build in the first place for skilling. That is the main reason for it's existence and the rest of it will be build on top of that, litterly.

Garage
What I came up with was that on the ground floor I think I will build the garage, close to the road, a small hallway connecting the front door with the living room.

Living/ Hidden Skills Room
That living room will be filled only with Hidden Skills objects, as I will build this mansion to train Supersim in.

Kitchen
Connected to the Living Room is the kitchen, for cooking and for learning to kook so there is also room to read and learn recipies. There is a chest for the vegetables that I need to keep without sims using them on their own will for cooking, when they are placed in the kitchen.

Backyard/ Perfect Garden
That kitchen is connected to the backyard, which is partly used for growing vegetables.

Toilet
Connected to the kitchen as well as the Hidden Skills room is a big toilet with toilets seperated by their own doors, for peeing privacy.
This toilet will be big enough to manace and contain multiple sims at a time as it need to in case of parties, as the Hidden Skills room is also very well usable for giving grat parties, looking at the stuff it contains in a very big room.

OUTSIDE
Depending on the best layout for the rooms on the first floor the outside of the house will be directly influenced by that. Ad long as the house haven't be build yet, the outside can not be completely finished as proper connections to the mansion itself will be made. Below are a few 'rooms' that need to be added though.

Range
Yes, this is for horses.
As horses probably need a place to run a range will be needed. Most of this will be in the open air but there are also stalls connected to it where the horses can sleep or woohoo.
How this space will be connected to the mansion depends on the layout of the rest of the rooms.
As horseriding is a skill a sim can learn that may be comes hand in hand with the Athletic skill, connecting the range to the gym may be a good idea.

Training Field
A horse can be locked away by fences from the rest of the garden, but need an entrance to the road. They need a place to run, stall to sleep and a place to jump, all fenced from the rest of the garden where they aren't supposed to come.

Swimming Pool
A swimming pool can be used when partying as well as skilling the Athletic skill and it is the only way for kids to train that it so this 'thing' should be connected to the gym as close as possible as well as to the Hidden Skills room.
Therefore the Athletic skill should be taken care of on the first floor, connected to the Pool as well as to the Hidden Skills room.

Outside Kitchen
This one can be used for various reasons. The first one is for Born Cooks who Loves The Outdoors, and the second one is for easy access to food when a sim is skilling outside. A little Need Room is connected as well and the Outside Kitchen is right on the other side of the Perfect Garden making the layout something like: Hidden Skills Room - Kitchen - Perfect Garden - Outside Kitchen.

Perfect Garden
Let's face it: most sims that are Green Thumbs are most likely Love The Outside sims as well so the best place to learn Gardening is outside, even if your sim is a bookworm. Therefore the Outside Kitchen is not only suited with a bookcage to learn cooking, but to learn gardening also. The perfect garden is equipted with an automatic watering system and a tool to easily suck up all the vegetables, made on an Inventing Table. The perfect garden has enough space to hold every plant ingame still isn't to large so sims can easily walk to it as well as walk through it.

Fishing Spot
Just like with Green Thumb sims also Angler sims are most likely Loves The Outside sims as hating to be outside while wishing to complete the LTW Perfect Aquarium doesn't make sence at all.
Therefore a big pond is added and learning fishing from books can be done in the Outside Kitchen, which is directly connected to the Pond on either the left or right from the Outside Kitchen, depending on where the Range is going to be.
The Pond is split up into several little places where all the fishes ingame can be catched, collected elsewhere and released there by previous highly skilled Fisherman sims.

SECOND FLOOR
The second floor is entirely build for skilling, every room seperated for one skill. Connected to those rooms are little Need Rooms.

Need rooms
These little rooms makes sure a skilling sim doesn't need to travel all the way through the mansion when filling up it's needs but can start right away with skilling after his or her needs are taken care of nice and easy.
The Needrooms are connected to one of the Skill Rooms for easy access and contain at least a bed, toilet, sink, shower, Food Replicator, chair, table, dishwasher and, for in case the skill object doesn't take care of it a fun object as well.
As there will be at least 8 Need Rooms, these rooms can also be used as Guest Suits, when you decide to let party sims sleep over or when you have invited 8 sims from foreign countries.

Example Skill Room
I take Logic as an example. The logic room must be connected to the outside of the mansion so a balcony can be added to place the telescope, or a window to look through the telescope should be fine.
There will also be a chess table and a little book cage, containing all the Logic Skill Books with a nice place to read as I different sims requires different ways to learn a skill.
The Chemistry table will be close to the connected Need Room so when a sim at the Chemestry table get toasted, he or she can take care of itself at the shower quickly.
Also the Skill rooms are equiped with the mood candle from China that will boost skilling.

Perhaps the Photographic room needs to contain all objects that can be placed on a lot that are part of Photography Collections.

QUESTIONAL ROOMS
Questional rooms are the rooms that need to be added, but the question is where will be the best place.

Butler Bedroom
The butler need a proper place to rest, maybe close to the rooms where he is needed mostly. That will be the Laundry Room, as he is doing laundry most of the time. Close the kitchen door for him, lock him out of that place completely to prevent him cooking all day long and also lock him away from the backyard if possible to prevent him using the Outside Kitchen as well, if this one is placed in the open air.

Laundry Room
The Butler need easy access to it and it need to contain multiple washing machines and dryers as the butler will fill one machine and than take the rest of the laundry to fill another.

Mausoleum
Why not? Your ancestors need a proper place to rest so you could concidering building a good place for them.
In the basement will be best, most likely, completed with several Need Rooms as these ghosts will come out at night to use some of your beds, showers and kitchen. So when they have stuff for their own within a decent range they will most likely go there first. Some fun objects will also be appreciated.
In stead of a bed, most ghost prever to sleep in a sarcophagus.

The above layout was completely based on skilling, without adding in it the fact sims can also be collectables of everything.
Therefore, I've decided to use the basements for collecting, as sims don't need to see the collections all the time but having them can still fulfill some of their wishes.

EDIT:
Later, check of this house is suitable for fulfilling every LTW and check if every special wish according to the different ages of the sims are also taken care of.

BASEMENT LEVEL 1

A training section for adventurers. Place 10 Rubble Piles, 1 Dive Well and 10 traps to make a sim capable of easily completing the Tomb Stats challenges.

And the suspense builds.
Not to go off topic here, but I hate when that happens when I'm on a mobile. I have the whole chapter of my story typed up, am just putting in the last pic, and then the page refreshes itself and loses all my work. :'(

Have you drawn out the house or started building it yet Leto? Because that seems awfully well thought out for being just in your head.

Poor boy. For what it's worth, don't typ a long text like that anymore on your mobile. It's just isn't worth trying.

No, I didn't need to. While rereading my post about the new layout I can easily look back at my previous written down layout to work from that.
Also it isn't finished yet as the impect of Pets with all the new animals, habitats and collectables will be huge. I still don't know what a dog, cat or even a horse need in this game and I am also building this thing for animals.

I realize this is an older thread and hope it is okay if I ask a question pertaining to it instead of starting a new and possibly unnecessary thread.

Leto have you been able to make any progress on your design since Pets came out? The reason I am asking is that I am interested in such a house but being a complete novice at building from scratch I wanted to see if anyone had made any actual progress building it.

Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

Sarah

Hi Cowgrrrl, I'm glad you've asked here. I know this is an older thread but from time to time I will post here anyway my new progress.
To answer your question: yes I have build this mansion further and it now is suitable for all there animals as I've finitely revamped the background just for horses.
But there is one problem though: pathing issues.
Yes, really. :) I know that sound strange when we're talking about a millionaire mansion but it's true.
And I need more information about the upcoming expansion Showtime to know if I need to free up space for eventually practising stages in home.
I will come back to this, but I can not say for sure when.

Besides all of this: Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the reply and the welcome Leto. Sorry to hear you are having pathing issues. Some of my sims seem to have personal space issues too, if that makes sense, and will stamp their feet and complain that something is in the way when I don't see anything. I would imagine that even in a millionaire mansion there would be issues since you have so many rooms you want to include.

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering them when you have the time.  How many floors do you currently have? Did you use multi level basements? Do you have a specific pet area for the cats and dogs? Do you have any pictures that your would be willing to share or do you have some posted already? Well, that is more than a couple of questions..lol sorry about that.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Regards,
Sarah

Haha, you're welcome to ask. And to answer them is part of the function of being a moderator, now isn't it? ;)
So yeah, I have at this moment in the new made mansion 5 floors, from the ground all the way up to the highest level. I've build a foundation first and increased the level so it became another floor. In there is the show car garage and on both other sides a stal for the horses.
The second floor (which originally would be the first floor) is made for the living room, two toilets, a animal room (so they have indeed a place for their own), a gym (for power training, cardeo workout and martial arts practising) with sauna area and shower connected for easy cleanup. On the other side of this same floor is the party area where mostly hidden skills related objects are included. The third floor will be mostly for the two master bedrooms, the nercary, laundry room as well as 8 guest rooms. I will made 8 because when you have World Adventures installed you can ask 8 foreign visitors at a time to sleep over for a couple of days when you know 8 of them.
A ninth bedroom will be for the butler, as he also need a place to sleep.
The fourth floor is where the grand library is where I will arange all the different (skill)books a sim can have. The other rooms are made for skilling. There will be a music room over there, a inventor/sculptor room and a room where sims can improve their logic skills.
And than finally the fith floor: that is also a library, as the library underneath is multi-level based. If I desire later on: I can give that room more functions as well.

And than the garden: this 'house' (you better call it a castle anyway) will have one garden, but a big one. It is devided into three areas: two for the horses because they need a lot of space, for living and for training their jumping skill. A running area goes all around the house and the middle part of the garden is the entrance from the street to the house, the show car garage, and the garden where sims can work on their gardening skills.

I don't have any pictures yet for sharing, but I will make a seperate topic especially for this house so you will see all the pictures and specific information over there when I'm ready building.
I hope to finish it somewhere in Janurary though.

Let's see... did I've answered all the questions... ah yes, multi-level basements. There will be indeed some. Just for museum functionality: photo's, paintings, sculptings, nectar, mounted fishes, gems, metals and meteorites. And relics will have his own basement level, seperated in three different parts: for every country one.

Did this answer all your questions?
