Building a Millionaire Mansion
« on: January 23, 2011, 06:09:10 PM »
My resent Millionairs Mansion is giving me troubles. Even on my biggest pc the game still runs slow and therefore my sims need to live in something smaller than a White House proportional building.
It's a pitty, but I'm still creative enough to build something smaller.
But to do that, I can use your help: below I have put a list of all functional rooms I could come up with and I am really wanting to know for any other functional room I have forgot to mention and you not. Maybe you have some great ideas of rooms which you are using in your own sim houses.

ROOM FUNCTIONS - INSIDE

Grand Voille (welcoming guests)
Kitchen
Diner Room
Living Room
(Master)bedroom
Bathroom (for all your sims + one for the butler)
Laundry room
Guest suids (8 bedrooms for invited foreight visitors and maybe 8 more for party members from your own town)
Toilet
Study
Nurcery (upgrade objects scientifiaclly, so babies and todlers have a good moodlet from the start)
Parlor
Library
Sauna
Fitness
Partyroom
Swiming pool (swimming pool will be placed to the saune, party- and fitness area, as both of the functional spaces coffering the use of a pool)
Hobby room (painting and crafting)
Fabrique: (Invention table and Nectar making)
Nature room (bugs and fishes)
Museum (all paintings, metals, rocks and gems)
Music room
Nectar cellar
Painting gallery

ROOM FUNCTIONS - OUTSIDE

Mausoleum
Play areau (for kids)
Barbeque place (entered fromout the party area)
Vegetables area
Bath
Labyrinth (optional, just looks cool)
Parking places
Show car garage
Ponds (which include all fishes)

All rooms are going to provide sims with at least the following:
+40 nicely decorated moodlet (3 expansive heartform gems will be enough)
+30 Beautifull Vista (Large windows where sims can oversee the nice garden)
+30 for the combined +10 moodlet of all three mood candles from World Adventures
+30 Stereo Installation (except for the bedroom and toilets)
+?? Expansive fire place
+30 for 5 star fridge in both kitchen and grand voile
+10 rubber dug.
+10 (Floor higyniator underneath every door)

The rest is up to you people. Let's build this thing! :D

Edit: Do a clicky-click-click on this link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Room) to see even more room ideas, thanks to Danefaith.

Wow sounds like one big mansion!  How about a Laundry Room?

I was going to add that to the bathrooms, but maybe a seperate laundry room is better. Why would you sugest it?

About the moodlet list, what is rubber dug?
For beautiful vista, you just need a window, it doesn't have to be big. In my challenge game, I had only one smallest cheapest window in one room home and get all the benefits of beautiful vista moodlet. But it is expectable to have big ones in this amazing Mansion.
Fireplace should give you just +5 cozy fire moodlet. Difference between cheap and expensive is that expensive ones already are fireproof and have automatic light / you don't have to upgrade and chose just one of these.

I would add wonderfull collection moodlet, it can go up to +40 depending on type of collection you have displayed and adventure challenges completed. Unfortunately, not all collections provide moodlets, and if you have more than one, the "stronger one" will prevail.
And your favorite, furniture upgraded with scientific experiment!

One more tip, butterflies add to decorated moodlet, so having 2 or 3 rainbow butterflies in one room might be enough for that +40 ;)

Hi Leto-I suggested it because there was no mention of laundry when you mention bathroom.  When I think of bathroom I think of toilet, sink, shower/bath and thought you may have just forgot it.
My Laundry (in real life) is in one of my bathrooms, but friends of mine have them in a separate laundry room, so it can basically be anyway you like.  A nice big bathroom certainly can fit a washing machine, dryer, hamper.  But if there is a maid/butler and they do laundry (never had either) it can be done in a separate laundry room out of the way. There is no right or wrong place for laundry, it is what ever you prefer. :)

I often like to give my Sims a Formal Living Room and a Casual Living Room with all the games and stuff, a chill room.  :P I also sometimes give each of my Sims a Special Room they can customize and have for their use specifically.

If you are building this then could you make it a video or post pictures? I always have a bit of 'Builders Block' when building a huge mansion with layout, I guess I am more of a 'Oh that looks good there, lets add it on' person.  :D

I'm a less is more kind of guy.  While the 'no moodlet left behind' is good on paper the application strikes me as cumbersome.

Anyway, I feel a good mansion should have bathrooms with powder rooms and doors seperating the toilet from the bath.  Maximizes the ability for the bathroom to be used by multiple Sims at a time while looking very nice and feeling very luxurious!  Also, don't forgot a bar adorned lounge!

I like the idea behind a fabrique, personally.  I might need to incorporate that some time soon.

Oh, sweet irony, deliver me from coincidence.

Please feel free to utilize any of my builds in any of your stories and so forth.

Is the sauna just a wood paneled room?

One more question. When you are done, will you put this house up in the Swap Shop?

@n8thegr8: When I know how I will upload it to the Swap Shop. But for now, I am just gathering information about constructing, logical placement and spacement and what functions the house must have. Also is it very important to make the house not to big. I don't have a date planned. I will just start building when I feel like. That's the way it works best for me.

If i remember right there are really many and seven different styles, and if you count the paintings from the board too (stylist, archeology) thats many.

Is there a list anywhere where you can see them all actually.??
