No Asian Culture?
« on: January 22, 2011, 03:13:36 PM »
My sim, Stephanie Price, befriended and moved in Zhan Su and Sun Young Kim. Zhan and Sun Young got married, and had two kids. Their first one, Quing Yuan, eats almost all her food with chopsticks. However, when I aged their second kid Jia Li, up, I noticed she was eating her food with a fork! What's up with that? >:(

Their second child, Jia Li, is probably more used to the hometown culture than the Asian culture.  You said the first child eats almost all her food with chopsticks, which says to me she sometimes uses a fork.  I'm sure Jia Li probably sees this and favors the fork over the chopsticks.
I have noticed that my Sims will use the culture from the country they traveled to for several weeks and slowly resort back to their hometown culture.  If they were to travel again to that country, they pick up the customs much faster.
As a side note, have you noticed the parents using a fork occasionally?

Zhan and Sun always eat with chopsticks. And by "almost" for Quing Yuan, I meant that she uses a spoon for cake and soup. Other than that, she always uses chopsticks. She even managed to eat key lime pie with them! :o

Then I am really not sure other than the fact that she will hopefully pick up the chopsticks by watching the rest of the family.

I have only moved in one Asian friend who then married into my family.  Their children never used chopsticks even though she always did.  She eventually lost all ability to use chopsticks until her and her husband visited her homeland when they were elders.  Then that was all either of them used when they came home.

Maybe there is always a small chance that a Sim will always use a fork, regardless of their parentage....

They use a spoon for cake and soup? How disapointing. I would LOVE to see how they will manage eating soup with chopsticks. :P
Anyway, I'm afraid the change of Chinese offsprings eatning with chopsticks always is a bit overated. The change is there, but it isn't 100% accuracy. It's actually the same as 'breeding' a pyromaniac sim.
