Makey MishMash Legacy 9.8: That Don’t Impress Me Much

Makey MishMash Legacy 9.8: That Don’t Impress Me Much

Previously: Oliver and David settled into life with their mother, helping around the small-holding and improving their school grades; Oliver agreed to be the Gen 10 Heir; Fredrick agreed to help in the Bakery in order to keep getting an allowance; Mary won the pie competition.

L-to-R: Oliver, Mary, Prue, David
9.6.family.jpg
2 Olde Mill Lane, Henford-on-Bagley

Mary: I did a lot of reading and research on the computer about Vampire Lore and, let me tell you, some of it was scary stuff. I made some garlic wreaths and garlands to put around the front door and whipped up some Plasma Fruit salad in case we got any hungry vampy visitors.
I also took a day trip to Selvadorada to get the recipe for bunuelos again. I know I bought some before but I just couldn’t remember eating them.

9.8.1.jpg

Mary: You know, I’ve tried all the ice-cream recipes now. And the popcorn.
Prue: Is there anything you have left to try?
Mary: Nope! I guess I’m done!
Prue: We should celebrate!
Mary: I’m going on a date with Faiz tonight. He rang earlier to say he was feeling very unsatisfied in our relationship and I’ve got a Fear of being left all alone. A date should solve all that.
But what about you, Prue? You’ve been the best sister ever.
Prue: Apart from that whole messing up your relationship with Fredrick!
Mary: Oh that! You know, I hardly remember feeling anything for him.
Prue: Even if I told you that he asked me to be his BFF? I turned him down, of course.
Mary: But you’re Romantic. You don’t seem to flirt with anyone. Not even Fredrick.
Prue: I’m also Family-Oriented. I love your boys but I’d really like a child of my own.
Mary: Oh really! Well, I think I have a plan that could make that happen.
Prue: Tell me more!

9.8.3.jpg

Faiz: Darling Mary. I know I was feeling Very Unsatisfied but I’m OK really. I’d never leave you on your own.
Mary: It’s so good to hear you say that.
Faiz: This is a very dark club. Lots of nooks an crannies.
Mary: There’s an upstairs bit too. Let’s go explore.

9.8.4.jpg

Faiz: I wasn’t sure about the couples costume but…
Mary: I’m so glad no-one else came upstairs.
Faiz: You know, I’m feeling Very Satisfied in our Steamy relationship. I think I’d like to move in with you!
Mary: Wow! I…Yes! Yes, I’d love that.
Faiz: Great!

9.8.5.jpg

David: It was good to have Faiz move in. He makes Mum happy plus he’s someone else for me to sell my side hustle to. Do you like my bio-pic?
Yes, I’m a LiveStreamer as well as a Cheerleader. Mum says I’ve very goal-oriented. I would be if I could get to Cheerleading practise. I’ve got Watcher to send us to High School on our own so I can. If she comes with me, I get stuck and miss it. I’ll get to level 2 by the end of the week but level 3 seems out of sight.

9.8.7.jpg

David: Come on!
Oliver: I need to do my homework!
David: You’re already a Llamacorn Scout with an A. You could graduate.
Oliver: I’m trying to be Iconic. I just wish my Incredibly Friendly introduction counted for my 10 Teen friends. I’m stuck at 8.
David: If we go to the park at dusk, we’re bound to meet some more Teens.
Oliver: OK, I’m done. Let’s go. I just hope these ones count.

9.8.8.jpg

Kim: Cheese? How did you know?
Mary: I had a Henford Heart-to-Heart with the Mayor on Saturday and he said it was something I should do.
Kim: I do like cheese. Although those baked goods of yours are delicious. Do you need any more flour and sugar?
Mary: I’ll have some but I won’t be needing as much in future. I’m closing the Bakery.
Kim: But it was such a friendly place!
Mary: Friendly, yes. Profitable? No. I made more sales with my sales table from home. I’ll be selling off all my stock that way and then focus on Wedding Cakes. They’re a real money-spinner and people like buying local without travelling to Tartosa.
Kim: And I hear Faiz has moved in. Will he be selling flowers to go with the cakes?
Mary: No, he’s become a Romance Consultant.

9.8.10.jpg

Oliver: That trip to the park helped me get my tenth Teen friend, even though I’ve actually got 15! I just need to do this last upgrade on the TV that Faiz needed for work and then I’ll be Handy as well as Iconic!

9.8.11.jpg

Fredrick: Ah yes! I’ve just agreed to another meal-ticket! A quick trip to the medical centre and I’m good for another few weeks.
Mary: Did he go for it?
Prue: Like a charm! I think that he thinks he’ll be taking this baby too.
Mary: Nope! He only got Oliver and David because he was living here and could move out with them. I’m just cancelling his Group Membership now!

9.8.13.jpg

Prue: Triplet! What a surprise!
Mary: Watcher forgot to cancel the lot trait. She’s not had triplets in a legacy for a long time! Beau lives up to his name! He’s so cute.
Faiz: Belle too! I love her already.
Prue: And baby Ben, an extra son! We are triply blessed.

9.8.14.jpg

Faiz: There you go, sweet Belle. You know, I was thinking it would be nice to have babies with Mary but now there’s no room. After seeing how much work you three take, maybe I don’t mind so much!

9.8.15.jpg

Debra: You like black. I like black. We’d make the perfect Prom couple.
Oliver: I hadn’t thought to get a Prom date but I would be honoured.
Debra: Such a gentleman!

9.8.16.jpg

Prue: Little Beau aged into a Sunny Snuggly Sleeper. Would you mind giving him a nap, Mary?
Mary: More snuggles! You know, this time with your little ones makes me realise how much I missed of the boys growing up. They were hardly with me for their Infancy.

9.8.17.jpg

Faiz: I’m glad you didn’t change your mind about our date when Fredrick showed up.
Mary: Apparently he’d woken on the sad side of the bed this morning and was feeling pretty blue! I told him he could help with the triplets but that I was going out.
Faiz: You see, I’ve got this whim and Watcher is letting me go with it…
Mary: A whim? Is it a good one?
Faiz: It would make me happy if you agree?
Mary: Agree to what?
Faiz: To marry me?
Mary: Oh, Faiz. I’m so glad you had that whim. My last marriage didn’t go so well so I was waiting for you to ask me. The answer is “yes”. I would love to be your wife.
Faiz: Wonderful.

9.8.18.jpg

Saturday morning
Bear: When your Mum invited us over this morning, I didn’t realise it was for a wedding!
Oliver: She wanted to keep it low-key. Just you, Granny Morgan and a few neighbours.
David: Mum’s given them all gifts of bakery instead of receiving gifts.
Bear: This Is a great happy ending.

9.8.19.jpg

Bear: Ben loves being held, doesn’t he.
Prue: If you could just cuddle him while I see to Belle.
Bear: Is this your happy ending, Prue?
Prue: It couldn’t be happier!

9.8.20.jpg

Debra: Thanks, Oliver.
Oliver: Thank you for asking me to be your date.
Debra: But there’s no romance between us, is there?
Oliver: Neither of us feel anything. I’m not sure about my future so it’s difficult to imagine sharing it with someone.
Debra: You’re a good-looking guy, and really thoughtful and charming. Anyone would be happy to be with you.
Oliver: That’s such a kind thing to say.

9.8.22.jpg

Jerrica: You! Prom King? That don’t impress me much. Candy may be Prom Jester, but it’s you that’s a joke!
Oliver: Hey! Where did that come from?
Jerrica: You know I’m Mean right? You think you’re God’s gift, don’t you. Well…
Candy: Lighten up, Jerrica. Ollie was voted for, fair and square.
Jerrica: Says the girl with the Jester’s hat. It should have been me!
Oliver: I’m sorry Jerrica. I’d give you my crown, but our classmates have voted. I wouldn’t disrespect them by turning it down.
Jerrica: Mister Nice Guy! Like anyone’s going to remember you in a year’s time, never mind five.
Oliver: The Prom’s over. Me and David are going home.

Mary’s reign as Heir is over but Oliver’s is yet to start. I wanted something to keep us going through Oliver’s fairly standard Teens but 3 Infants has been hard work.

L-to-R: Belle, Beau, Ben

Fredrick keeps showing up like a bad penny but the triplets are happy to see him. It’s good for them to know their father.

Oliver and David have 5 more days of Teendom. I’m really hoping that David gets his Cheerleading promotion in time, despite the glitches, just for completeness sake.

You have to be kidding me!
Prue having triplets with that jerk instead of Mary having a baby with Faiz is the HEA? *sighs

Congrats to Mary, regardless, for completing all her requirements, especially winning first in the Finchwick Pie competish!
Best wishes to you, Olive, as you progress toward taking the Makey Legacy home!

Lol! I believe it was your suggestion that Prue would make a great science baby with Fredrick. Since that suggestion, I’ve been keeping Fredrick hanging around as a good-enough friend for just the right time. Triplets was not part of that plan, but you were right. Beau, Belle & Ben are very cute.

If it makes you feel better, Fredrick is no longer sponging off the household.

LOL! Yes, I indeed suggested at the beginning before we learned what a total jerk Fredrik is.
Hhonestly, you did such a superb job of making me detest him, haha.
And yes, I am happy that Mary has finally rid herself of that parasite! :D

Makey MishMash Legacy 9.9: It’s Too Late, Baby

Previously: Mary completed her requirements on Monday; Faiz moved in; Mary sold her bakery; Oliver became Iconic and Handy; Prue had science triplets Beau, Belle and Ben with Fredrick but kicked him to the kerb; Faiz proposed to Mary and they got married.

L-to_R: Mary holding Belle, David, Oliver holding Ben, Faiz, Prue holding Beau
9.8.family.jpg
2 Olde Mill Lane, Henford-on-Bagley

Oliver: Mum and Faiz were very impressed with my crown. I know it looks big-headed but I just couldn’t help showing it off.

9.9.1.jpg

Oliver: What happened next was not good. Not good at all. Watcher had sent Mum in to try to calm down because she was in hysterics. The rest of us were busy settling the triplets and didn’t notice until too late that Mum was collapsing.

9.9.2.jpg

Oliver: I got ready with a death flower, all set to give it to Grim. I even clicked on the option to hand it over. But, before I could, we got a choice of having her stay in the house or roam free. We chose roam free, thinking it didn’t matter. After all, Grim was still there. But it was too late. He wasn’t taking any flowers and Mum was gone!

9.9.3.jpg

Fredrick: I am genuinely sad about Mary’s passing. I did love her at one time. Plus she and her sister have blessed me with 5 wonderful children. OK, Ben isn’t so wonderful when he’s Happily Spitting up all over me but I love them all.

9.9.4.jpg

Faiz: Thank you all for coming to celebrate the triplets birthday. Prue was ready to do it quietly because we’re all in mourning, but we still have many cakes that Mary baked and it’s what she would have wanted. Please, everybody, tuck in.

9.9.5.jpg

Oliver: Come on, Beau. You’re the last to blow out your candles. Belle is Angelic, Ben is Fussy and you? You are Independent.
Beau: Pfft

9.9.6.jpg

David: It’s amazing how high I can jump on this practise mats. I’m determined to get to the top of my cheerleading club at the next session on Wednesday.

9.9.7.jpg

Oliver: After the triplets all aged up, I spent the night at the Magical HQ. There were no Angel Fish to be had at the store but I explained the situation to the Sage of Mischief. She agreed that the Sages would give me every assistance to get to the Master level and teach me the necessary spells. I learned Necrocall that very night.

9.9.8.jpg

Oliver: I took Wednesday off school to get back to the HQ. I found some people to duel against me for knowledge and learned a few other spells and potions. I nearly didn’t check the store. Guess what! An angel fish. Perfect.

9.9.9.jpg

Oliver: I’m so glad you visited tonight, Mum. I could have Necrocalled you but it’s better that you’ve come independently.
Mum: It’s good to see you. How’s Faiz?
Oliver: Missing you but you can move in!
Mum: Of course I can! Why didn’t I think of that?
Oliver: And here’s a moving-in present.
Mum: An angel fish! I know just what to do with this.

9.9.10.jpg

Mary: It was strange cooking as a ghost but I haven’t lost it. This portion of ambrosia looks as good as anything I’ve made. I can’t wait to get back to living again.

9.9.11.jpg

Mary: Your brother got to be a Highflier by topping the Cheerleading.
Oliver: He'd topped his Livestreaming some time ago.
Mary: So we're ready to hold this birthday party.
Oliver: Are you sure you’re happy to cater for it?
Mary: It’s the perfect way to ease my way back into corporeal living.
Oliver: David’s become a Geek and signed up as a Tech Guru. He’s packing up to go and live in the city.
Mary: Any you, Oliver? You’re Romantic now. What job are you going for?
Oliver: I’m not getting a job, exactly. It’s all a bit hush hush. But I will be moving out soon.
Mary: Is there something you need to do first?
Oliver: No, but I thought there might be something you’d like to do.

9.9.13.jpg

Faiz: Well? Are you?
Mary: First time!
Faiz: Does that mean we won’t try again?
Mary: We can pretend to. Shall I come back up there or do you want to try the shower?
Faiz: Both!

9.9.14.jpg

Oliver: Yes, Mum’s pregnant by Faiz. With me moving out, they could have twins. Me? It’s Thursday morning and I’ve moved into this manor house on an island in Windenburg – the Villareal Estate. I’ve signed a lot of non-disclosure agreements so I can’t say any more at this point. Let’s just say I’m quite excited about what’s coming. I just hope this gloomy weather doesn't last. It's Summer, after all!

Generation 10 – Oliver – will be the last generation in this Legacy. I can’t decide if I’m prevaricating because I don’t want it to end or because I’m a bit daunted by the requirements for this gen.

Oh, I was so shocked by Mary's death!
But, thanks to Oliver's quick thinking and rapid acquisition of an Angel Fish, everything turned out okay. Phew!
I'm so glad Mary and Faiz will be having a child (or children) of their own!

Hmmm, Oliver has moved to Windenburg Island, eh?
I wonder what's in store for him there...

Makey MishMash Legacy 10.1: House Of Fun

Previously: Mary died from Hysteria; the triplets aged up into Toddlers; Oliver was working up to Master level of spellcasting to Dedeathify Mary but managed to buy an Angel Fish instead; ghost Mary rejoined the household, cooked up her own Ambrosia and rejoined the living; David fulfilled his dream to become a Highflier; both boys aged into Young Adults, David moving out to be a Tech Guru in the city; Oliver waited until Mary and Faiz were expecting a baby before moving out to the Villareal Manor on Windenburg Island.

Oliver: Hello again, and welcome to the Island Manor! The storyline is that I own this place, which of course I don’t, and that I’m looking for a Bride which is actually true, I have the Soulmate Aspiration. Tomorrow morning, seven potential Brides with Romantic Aspirations will arrive at my gate and we all get to work out who is the best fit for me.
Right now? I’m playing computer games while the rain hammers down outside.

10.1.1.jpg

I can only do one Insta-Upgrade at a time but maybe by the time I choose my Bride, I’ll have upgraded everything here. There is a lot. A lot of loos; a lot of showers; a lot of bedrooms.
The Butler has his own room. His name? The producers don’t want you getting attached to him as there are several that will do shifts. Apparently, no sensible Butler wants this kind of gig permanently. This one is Lazy, by the way, which seems a strange trait for a Butler.
It's difficult to see, but I've had a makeover. All my clothes are now monochrome - shades of black through white. The wardrobe department said it suited me. They also persuaded me that a managed-stubble was a good look too. Plus a different hairstyle. I've signed my life over to these people. I'll just have to trust them.

10.1.2.jpg

I’m keeping a journal. No, you can’t know what’s in it. It’s tied into the end promo deals. Anyway, until my Brides arrive, there’s not a lot to say. Just what I’m hoping for in a Soulmate.
It was my friend Debra who sent in an application for me. My Prom Date from last week, who said anyone would be lucky to have me. When I got the offer I wasn’t sure but Watcher talked me round. This experience is already changing me. I went for a jog around the Island, even in the pouring rain, and became Active.

10.1.8.jpg

Friday morning and time to vote for a Clean Energy NAP. Me and Watcher discussed the Free Love one but thought things would get too steamy too quickly.
They’ll be here any moment. That’s why I’ve come to meet them at the gate. I can’t tell if I’m excited or scared. Or a bit of both.

10.1.12.jpg

Week 70 (Year 5, Summer 1/4) from Thu-Fri am
Generation 10: Bachelor Challenge
Oliver: Bachelor
– Goofball, Outgoing, Romantic, +Active

Progress
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Prior Generations
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Notes
My attempt at the Bachelor Challenge will be the finale of this Legacy.  Oliver is named for Oliver Queen of Green Arrow fame, played by Stephen Amell. Hence the designer stubble which is possibly the only resemblance. I haven't added all the scars and tats.

I’m following in the mighty footsteps of @GlazeyLady who did such a great job with Ivy Sandoval - Gen 5 of her Ten-Gen Jumble, so much so that I’m quite daunted. I’m keeping to her rules which mainly consist of a lot of autonomy and Want fulfilment, prioritizing that of Oliver and then enabling Wants of the Brides fairly. There's a lot of rolling dice involved to keep orders fair. It'll be easier when the seven become six!

I will be adding all the housemates to Oliver’s family club but only have activities in it when they are supposed to be doing something together. It will mainly be used to Rally the Troops at the start of any activity and to get them all in one place. There will be no banned club activities.

I was thinking the Butler might become an interesting “player” in this Constructed Reality but I find Butlers come and go when I travel off lot so it’s difficult to include them. One annoying thing about them coming and going is that I need to remember to assign them a bed each time they change.

We’ll meet the Brides in the next update but I’m sure you’d like to see my makeover of the Villareal Estate.

The basement was expanded to include a dance area plus the Rose Ceremony room. We’ll get to see those later.

The ground floor has a large open plan kitchen and dining area. Next to that is the arts room with easels, instruments and bonsai trees. No cross-stitch box! On the other side of the staircase is the library, with desktop computers, chess and a games table. The entrance hall has table-football and darts and is open into the TV lounge. There are 3 loos, one including a shower.

10.floor 1.jpg

The first floor has a small bedroom for Oliver with a private bathroom. It also has a large gym with some spa equipment. There are also meditation cushions and yoga mats on the balcony. There are 2 loos with showers as well as Olivers.

10.floor.2.jpg

I added another level to the original house, keeping the footprint the same. Up here are 8 bedrooms – one for each Bride and one for the Butler. There are also 2 bathrooms. There are very little activity items up here, apart from mirrors, to avoid the housemates spending much time up here.

10.floor.3.jpg

Outside in the extensive grounds is a modest (for 8 people) pool, plus horseshoe game, hopscotch and a random picnic blanket. I’ll be adding a hot tub as soon as I remember at a helpful time!

Ahhh yes! I had completely forgotten that you were saving your Bach3elor Challenge for the last generation!
What a wonderful finale for your legacy!

Your makeover of the manor looks great! I am eager to meet the bridges!
And can I just say? I'm glad you and I have had this last legacy challenge to play together. It's been great fun!

"meet the bridges" Ha ha - my auto-correct keeps changing Brides to Bridges too. I think I've caught them all but I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Yes, I've been enjoying having the comradeship and the encouragement to keep going and keep on track with this Legacy. I've still not decided if I'm going to start writing challenges up on my (very) lapsed blog site but I've really appreciated the friendly nature of this forum.

Makey MishMash Legacy 10.2: Seven Brides For One Brother
« Reply #369 on: October 28, 2024, 05:44:09 AM »
Makey MishMash Legacy 10.2: Seven Brides For One (sic) Brother

Previously: Oliver moved into the Island Manor and settled into his new role as Bachelor, waiting for 7 potential Brides to show up.

Oliver: I’d gone out to the post box to vote the Clean Energy NAP in and so I could be there to greet my potential Brides, but the production team had snuck them all in round the back.
Olivia was the first Bride I met. She loves dancing although she’s a little bit Clumsy. Her plans definitely include having a family and she likes wearing Orange.

10.2.1.jpg

Viola loves being outdoors and having parties. She likes wearing violet and, whatever she does, she practises until she’s perfect. No, we’re not having a smooch. That’s just the way we greet each other in Windenburg.

10.2.2.jpg

Yvonne likes good food, tries to do Good and had already been in the pool by the time we met because she likes to be Active, just like I became yesterday. Her favourite colour to wear is Yellow.

10.2.3.jpg

Renee was a little put out that Yvonne stayed at the table while I met her but she’s quite Proper and so didn’t make a fuss. Renee is also Self-Assured so she got over it quickly. She’s a Music Lover and likes to wear red.

10.2.4.jpg

Greta is an Adventurous Art Lover who just happens to be a Genius. Green clothes are her preferred apparel. She was very interested to know why Yvonne was still hanging around. I think she might be here doing research into social mores rather than really interested in being my Bride.

10.2.5.jpg

Geeky Bunty had made a bee-line for the computers in the library. I did manage to get her attention long enough to discover that she’s a Perfectionist. She was very excited to join my family Club as she’s also an Insider and likes wearing bright or light blue.

10.2.6.jpg

Nicki took some tracking down. Apparently Olivia had started offering massages to all the Brides and Nicki was waiting her turn. She was really pleased that I’d already voted for the Clean Energy NAP because she’s a bit of a Green Fiend, working out Creative ways to improve the world. She struck me as very Loyal as well and likes to wear navy.

10.2.7.jpg

Greta: So, girls, what’s everyone’s game plan?
Renee: I’m very confident that I’ll win by serenading Oliver with my musical skills.
Nicki: I know I’m already on the same Eco wave-length
Viola: I can’t wait for tonight’s House Party to begin.
Yvonne: If you’re going to swan around in your cossie, I’m going back in the pool too.

10.2.8.jpg

Oliver: Bunty wanted to play Thumbs Up which is a great way for us to break the ice.

10.2.9.jpg

Renee really wanted to hug someone, so we talked until she could.

10.2.10.jpg

Bunty was closest when I wanted to tell a joke so I tried my best line on her. She doesn’t look impressed, does she?

10.2.11.jpg

Oliver: The House Party in the basement was a lot of fun. I got to dance with all the Brides in turn although Watcher had to lock the door to the gym because Olivia continued to offer massages to everyone.

10.2.12.jpg

After the party, I thought we all went to sleep. I couldn’t sleep because I’d just had a message that Granny Morgan had died. I popped down for a mind-clearing swim and bumped into Viola, who’d had a similar idea. That girl spends a lot of time swimming. She held my hands and I must admit, it was nice.

10.2.15.jpg

I did go to sleep after that but was soon down for a snack, but really looking for someone to flirt with. Yvonne was still dressed as she’d only been napping so I got my flirt on.

10.2.16.jpg

When I bumped into Nicki by the front door, she (autonomously) Consoled me about losing a grandparent. I was so grateful that I kissed her hands.

10.2.18.jpg

It was Saturday morning and I still hadn’t got dressed when Viola came and planted a First Kiss on me. Apparently she’d wanted to kiss someone ever since she arrived and First Kiss was at the head of her choices.
As you can see, Bunty was not impressed with Viola and laid into her. Hm, Bunty’s become Self-Assured since arriving and she’s not afraid to speak her mind.

10.2.19.jpg

We made a quick visit to the Festival of Snow but there was really only time for a quick dip in the hot springs. Mm, that was warm and relaxing. I’m not sure there’s a good place to get bad news but that was where I heard that Grandad Bear had died. Sad times.

10.2.22.jpg

Once it got to 5pm, we headed over to San Myshuno for the Romance Festival. We couldn’t miss that! First things first, we all asked the Love Guru about our romantic destinies. There were no big spoilers because I think her magic bag of fortunes had a glitch. For nearly all of us, six of us in fact, “Vibrations show a tall dark stranger in our near future”.
Greta had previously said it was all poppycock but she decided that maybe she could be my "tall dark stranger". Bunty pointed out that the description could definitely apply to more than one of the Brides, herself included!
Viola got “Your true love is closer than you think!” which she took as a good sign. Olivia got “Time has not run out for you…yet.” which is a little vague.
As the Love Guru was an Elder, I also took the opportunity to discuss my fears about death with her. It was very helpful. I’ll mourn Granny and Grandad but I’m not afraid of death any more.

10.2.24.jpg

I think Bunty must have realised I’d been struggling because she found me behind the food stalls and Embraced me. These Brides are a caring bunch.

10.2.26.jpg

I got to dance with all the Brides at the festival, Bunty first. Watcher said she’d never thought to slow-dance there before. We were the only ones dancing so it’s not really a common activity.
We all avoided the wedding arch. None of us are ready to think about the end of this challenge yet. At least, I’m not.
Can you see my father walking past while I was dancing with Renee? I’m so glad he didn’t stop to chat. The Brides meeting significant family members isn’t until much later.

Notes
In case you haven’t noticed, all the Brides are rainbow colour-coded to help my poor brain. I’d never do that to real people and I haven’t pointed it out to them. So their names begin with the same letter of the colour they are wearing. Eg Renee = Red, Olivia – Orange, etc.

All the Brides were generated in CAS and are brand new Young Adults so there shouldn’t be any aging up during this challenge. They’ll all get a Potion of Youth on exiting the house, as will Oliver and his Bride.

The Brides’ colourings were determined by their designated colour where appropriate or chosen to increase diversity. As Oliver is the final heir and I rarely generate off-spring to use in future challenges, genetics is not a primary factor for us.

The Brides’ starting Traits are all different to each other and to Oliver’s starting Traits. Oliver developing Active might give Active Yvonne a head start but that’s the way it happened. All three Traits are from different categories (Emotional/Hobby/Lifestyle/Social) to get a good balance. I avoided the obviously unfortunate ones like Mean, Paranoid, Erratic but also ones that would be difficult to keep happy within the challenge. I also avoided High-Maintenance (too easy to die during high autonomy). All pop-ups for the Brides must be accepted so their discovery Traits are on them.

The Brides all have an Aspiration from the Romance category, randomly chosen. To see their picture/traits/aspiration, look on the Generations 9-10 post. Oliver's Aspiration is Soulmate.

The following updates will not be by Sim-weeks, but at suitable breaks in the challenge.

Well, well, well. Oliver's wasting no time, prowling around at night in his sleepwear and flirting with all the candidates!
The brides are all so different from each other, each attractive in their own way (some more than others...)
I do have two clear favorites already. You can probably guess them, haha.

In your section of The Brides, you don't list Yvonne's color:
Quote
Yvonne – Yvonne, Active, Foodie, Good

And I'm so confused by your clockwise naming of the brides.
If you're starting from the top, shouldn't the first one be Renee followed by Viola on the right?
Or am I confused by the orientation of your "clock"?

Sorry - I'll edit it - Yvonne is Yellow - both beginning with "Y"
I put "anti-clockwise" but included spaces in for some unknown reason so it doesn't parse easily. I'll edit that too. The reason for going anti-clockwise is that I remember my rainbow order by reciting "Richard Of York Gained Battle In Vain" - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo (Navy), Violet. I'd already placed the Brides in the pic and was too idle to change it! ::) I've added the names to the pic now.

I'm glad you like the Brides. I suspect you like Viola with ice-blonde hair and violet eyes. I'm not 100% sure which of the others you might like. Incidentally, CAS random women always have hair growth enabled on their arms and legs. Why would that be a default? It's something I have to remember to switch off every time.

I'm trying not to have favourites myself. I'm supposed to enable their Wants in turn but some of them just keep Wanting things they can't do within the house! Pesky lot!

Gha, how did I miss that you typed "Anti-clockwise"? I'm sure I checked several times but it seems my eyes only see what they believe theyre seeing.
Thank you for so patiently explaining that!

Yes, Violia and Olivia.  Bunty looks a bit interimidating, tbh.
Looking forward to your Bachelor Challenge unfolding! *runs off to make popcorn

Makey MishMash Legacy 10.3: Suspicious Minds

Makey MishMash Legacy 10.3: Suspicious Minds

Previously: Renee, Olivia, Yvonne, Greta, Bunty, Nicki and Viola all moved into the Island Manor on Friday morning; after settling in, they had a house party in the basement; after a quick dip in the hot spring in Mt Komorebi, everyone enjoyed the Romance Festival in San Myshuno.

Oliver: Sunday was Prank Day. Look, I’m a Goofball so when it’s Prank Day, I am all in. I pranked all the Brides with either “What’s that spot?” or the hand-buzzer.
Both Nicki and Renee pranked me back by trying to scare me. What a hoot!
I’m not sure Bunty liked the buzzer and Greta just started solving hard problems.
Whatever, I had a great time.

10.3.1.jpg

Oh yes, Viola didn’t prank me back. She responded to “What’s that spot” by embracing me. Maybe it was congratulatory because my Dad had just phoned to let me know he’d adopted a baby. Hm, a step-brother or sister…
I thought Yvonne might mind about the embrace but she just kept walking.

10.3.2.jpg

Watcher thought it would be a good idea to take all the Brides to my Graduation ceremony because I was Valedictorian. I had practised my speech and was really pleased with myself.
The Brides didn’t really say anything but I expect they were impressed.

10.3.8.jpg

After the ceremony, I got to play a different game with each Bride: chess with Renee; Don’t Wake The Llama with Bunty…

10.3.9.jpg

…hopscotch with Yvonne, whose balance wasn’t that great for an Active person although it did make her Cheerful; horseshoe toss with Nicki, although she was carrying on the pranks…

10.3.10.jpg

…cards with Viola, which Renee was annoyed about because she keeps wanting to play cards but can never get anyone to sit down with her…

10.3.12.jpg

…table football with Olivia and darts with Greta. Greta was pleased for me that I got a couple of bullseyes but she didn’t like losing. It was tiring but a fun way to round off Prank day.

10.3.11.jpg

The next day was the start of the solo dates. Me and quite a few of the Brides had been wanting to schedule a date for some time so it was a relief.
Because Viola Loves Outdoors, we went to Magnolia Blossom Park, played chess and watched the clouds. She decided she’d become a Bro at that point. I’m not sure why.

10.3.13.jpg

I took Genius Greta to Willow Creek Library so we could play chess as well. We “kissed behind the bookshelves” which made us very Confident but Greta also became a Goofball like me.

10.3.14.jpg

Active Yvonne came with me to Club Calico. Before we splashed around in the pool, we enjoyed some saucy dancing. She became an Over-Achiever right there and then.

10.3.16.jpg

I really wish Geekcon had been this week, because that would have been a perfect place to take Geeky Bunty. Instead we went to the library on Windenburg mainland. With an option to Make Out in the closet, we made the most of it.
It was about then that I wondered about becoming Non-Committal. But I don’t want to be Non-Committal. I want to find the right Bride for me and then I’ll commit totally.
Bunty had no idea what I was thinking about. She became Cheerful.

10.3.17.jpg

Renee is a Music Lover so we went to the Rattlesnake Bar for more dancing. Wow, she may be Proper, but she can move that body! There were quite a few other people in the bar and I guess she kept eavesdropping because I realised that she’d become Nosy.

10.3.18.jpg

Of course, I took Dance Machine Olivia to the Windenburg club. We tried to do a group dance on the dance floor but never got our act together. We did in the closet, though. No WooHoo – not allowed. But making out turned Olivia into a Love Bug.

10.3.20.jpg

My last date was with Nicki. She Loves Art so we went to the Arts Gallery in San Myshuno. We didn’t spend much time looking at the art though. Nicki’s the only Bride who hasn’t discovered any new Traits.

10.3.21.jpg

By the end of all my dates, I’d shared a First Kiss with all of them. Someone has to leave the Island Manor at the Rose Ceremony this morning and I’ve decided who that will be. I don’t think they’ll be too sad about it. I hope not, anyway.
Time to gather in the sealed room.

10.4.1.jpg

Oliver: In no particular order, Olivia, we’ve become Good Friends and I like that you’re now a Love Bug. Please stay with me in the Island Manor?
Olivia: Thank you, Oliver

10.3.22.jpg

Oliver: In no particular order….what?
Nicki: I’m autonomously kissing you.
Oliver: Watcher!
Watcher: Oh no!
Oliver: Maybe I should become Non-Committal.
Watcher: Oh no you don’t.
Viola: How dare you!
Oliver: She kissed me! Look, Viola…um…what’s my line?
Watcher: You've had Good Compatibility from the start. You now feel deeply connected and enjoyed cooking together…
Oliver: Yes, all that. Please stay with me in the Island Manor?
Viola: Oh, well, yes, thank you, Oliver

10.3.23.jpg

Oliver: Um…
Watcher: In no particular order…
Oliver: In no particular order, Bunty, we've had Good Compatibility from the start and now we’re both Cheerful. I’m glad, as an Insider,  you enjoy being part of my club. Please stay with me in the Island Manor?
Bunty: Thank you, Oliver.

10.3.24.jpg

Oliver: In no particular order, Nicki, we've had Good Compatibility from the start. Despite trying to derail this Rose Ceremony, and causing Watcher to help the others not to become Jealous to keep things fair, I believe that your underlying Loyalty is worth keeping. Please stay with me in the Island Manor?
Nicki: Thank you, Oliver, and I’m sorry.
Viola: Ugh!

10.3.25.jpg

Oliver: In no particular order, Yvonne, we’re both Cheerful and Active and our compatibility has increased to Good. Please stay with me in the Island Manor?
Yvonne; Thank you, Oliver.

10.3.26.jpg

Oliver: Out of the remaining two Brides, Renee, although you’ve become Nosy, I think your Propriety will stop you being too intrusive. Please stay with me in the Island Manor?
Renee: Thank you, Oliver.

10.3.27.jpg

Oliver: So, Greta.
Greta: It’s OK, Oliver. I’m happy to be leaving the Island Manor.
Oliver: I thought you might be. We didn’t have any romantic feelings for each other before our date.
Greta: I enjoyed our First Kiss and it’s good to know that I can be a Goofball while still being a Genius. But seeing Nicki kiss you made me realise that we don’t have any deep feelings for each other.
Oliver: No. So little romance that I can’t even ask you to be just good friends. Do you have plans?
Greta: I’ve got the offer of a residence in Britechester. I’m going to Uni!
Oliver: Go well, Greta.
Greta: You too, Oliver.

Notes
The Graduation ceremony was a bit of a non-event but it was very funny that Oliver thought he’d given a great speech and all the Brides, every one of them, had the “heard a bad speech” buff. They definitely weren’t impressed.

DATES
On the dates, I used the base game date mechanism, picking the location and then completing the tasks given. I decided it was the fairest way. Picking activities myself could have created unconscious bias.
When flirting was required, I picked one that was in their top-level options, particularly one that was highlighted by a mood-buff, eg Bold Pick Up Line if Confident.
They only finished a date early when it was Gold and there were no more completable tasks. I ignored “both in Playful mood” as I wanted to avoid hysteria.
The longest dates were the ones that required “offer massage”. The option often wasn’t available until a lot of other interactions had happened.
Between each date, Oliver and the Bride returned to the Island Manor and Rallied the Troops before asking the next Bride.

Before entering the Island Manor, I set the Romantic Boundaries for all the Brides so that they wouldn’t get jealous of non-physical romantic actions. As became apparent, they do get jealous of physical ones. I probably should have had some down-time in between Oliver’s date with Nicki and the Rose Ceremony. I’ll try to do that next time. I'm supposed to accept all pop-ups for the Brides but a lot of them (not Greta!) wanted to become Jealous and I decided it would finish off this challenge before it even started. I'll accept all future ones regardless.

Mary & Faiz update: Mary gave birth to twins: Nolan (boy) and Liz (girl), both with her blonde hair and Faiz brown eyes. Prue’s triplets with Fredrick are now children

That screenshot of the brides' reaction to what Oliver was convinced was an excellent valedictorian speech was hilarious!

By the way, did Oliver inherit his character traits?
Another simmer friend and I have not been able to get our character traits when graduating at the same time as aging up.

Good luck with your search for the best bride, Oliver!
