OOh, that's tough for Mary, not having any control of how her sons are raised half the week.

Fredrik remains despicable. Haha, at least he stays in character and there's no temptation to take him back.
(Is there?)
Oh! Mary is already halfway through her YA stage. I didn't remember that Mary & Prue weren't twins.
I think Mary should take a better look at her neighbors....

No chance of Fredrick returning to the house. There's too much bad history.
Mary keeps autonomously flirting with him which is very frustrating especially as he shoots her down everytime. I want her to have more pride!

Mary was born first but Prue aged into a Young Adult at the same time. Their age difference now is due to Mary's pregnancy.

Prue is on the case for Mary's romantic future. Hopefully they'll both get an HEA.

That's odd (or maybe not?) that Mary keeps flirting with him while Fredrik seems more interested these days in Prue.
When they divorced, didn't they get a big fat, red Romance bar?
I guess it's because he's still around the house a lot.
Honestly, I believe Fredrik should have his custody rights revoked. I mean, is he even gainfully employed?
Or is he simply living off of his % of Mary's bake sales? Grrrr!

Yes! Hoping that both sisters (but especially Mary) get their HEAs!

Yes, Mary got a full red Romance bar with Fredrick as soon as she divorced him and the flirts/rebuffs have kept it there. Fredrick's Friendship bar with both sisters is fully green.

Prue doesn't autonomously flirt with Fredrick even though she's a Romantic. She must have worked out that it would complicate things.

I didn't include it in the last update but Prue suggested he pursued his dream job and he's gone into the Entertainment career instead of Athletics. He is earning but not much.

Makey MishMash Legacy 9.5: Honey Honey

Makey MishMash Legacy 9.5: Honey Honey

Previously: Toddlers Oliver and David met their grandparents Bear and Morgan before returning to their father on Monday; Mary became a Master Chef; the boys returned on Friday and aged up to Children; the New Year was ushered in after the Fair in Finchwick.

L-to-R: Mary & Prue - David, Fredrick, Oliver
9.4.family.jpg
2 Olde Mill Lane, Henford-on-Bagley

Oliver: Where are we going today?
David: Yes! What’s the surprise?
Mary: Now, my darling boys, you’ve woken up really early. We can’t go anywhere until the chickens and Choc Chip have woken up. The animals must come first.
Oliver: Mu-um!

9.5.1.jpg

Prue: I suppose I’m glad Fredrick turned up eventually to help. Even if his “help” consists of talking to the crops!

9.5.2.jpg

Bear: Are you going to tell them?
Mary: Yes. We’re going into the village…
David: Again?
Mary: …to visit my bakery!
Oliver: A bakery? But we bake here all the time!
Mary: This is a place to bake even more things and sell them from a proper counter!
David: That sounds like a big job!
Mary: Yes. I’ve given up my Culinary job. I’m going to do this full-time now. I know it doesn’t sound very exciting but, if I tell you that I’ve also got an Cupcake factory and the ice-cream maker there?
Oliver: Let’s go now!
David: Yeah!

9.5.3.jpg

Mary: Hi Maira. I’ve got you some waffles for those cravings you’ve been having.
Maira: That’s so thoughtful!

9.5.5.jpg

Mary: Prue’s being a bit silly about getting me dating again. Any man that comes in to my bakery, she tells them to take a photo with me. I’m not very interested in any of them, except maybe one – Lance is a Creative, Maker, Party-Animal. Prue says he might be fun to date. He’s the guy in pink. The others all had awkward traits that I see as red flags. There was another sweet guy with red hair, Hayden, but he’s a Child of the Village and my home is here in Henford.

9.5.6.jpg

Mary: Hello bees! Welcome to Spring. Let me catch you up with all the news. You’ve been asleep as long as I’ve had you. Hm, going dormant through the cold dark months does sound like an attractive option. Thank you so much for your lovely honey. Honey cake for tea today!

9.5.11.jpg

Mary: Welcome, welcome! Can you believe it’s Friday again!
Bear: You’re in a good mood!
Prue: The boys are coming in a moment. Of course she’s in a good mood. Besides, we’ve had fun this week, opening the bakery 4 days in a row.
Mary: With a profit of $28,013.
Fredrick: Oo - $7k for me then! Actually, that’s less than last week!
Prue: Mary’s trying all the recipes. Some aren’t as profitable as others. Plus we’re not marking them up much until we get a solid customer base.
Watcher: And some helpful perks!

9.5.14.jpg

Oliver: It’s great to be back. Dad says the weather in HoB is usually bad, but it’s lovely today.
Prue: Well done for finishing your homework so quickly.
Oliver: I’m going to set the table.

9.5.17.jpg

David: Mum says I don’t have to be defined by my Slobbish nature so I’m taking out the trash. I do enjoy farting a lot though. He he!

9.5.18.jpg

at the Spice Festival
David: Yay! Mum. You didn’t fall over!
Fredrick: I’m quite good at hopscotch too.
Oliver: Can we draw at grid at home then?
Fredrick: I’ll see if there’s room…

9.5.19.jpg

Mary: Can you read me the recipe for Samosa Soup?
David: You don’t really need me to help you, Mum.
Mary: No, but I like cooking with you.
David: Me too. Are you entering another pie at the fair.
Mary: No, it’s llamas and their wool this week.
David: A llama would be fun!
Mary: If I needed the wool, I think I’d get a mini-sheep but I’m not taking up cross-stitch or knitting just yet.

9.5.22.jpg

David: Wow, Mum, can I have a go?
Mary: When you’re a Teen. But you can play with Choc Chip and hug her as much as you like.

9.5.23.jpg

at Finchwick Fair
Morgan: Wow. That’s a lot of Root Beer Floats.
Bear: Doesn’t Fredrick have a thing about giving the boys sugar?
Mary: It’s the Finchwick Fair, Dad, and one Rootbeer Float each isn’t going to ruin their teeth.
Morgan: I’ll pass. I’m trying to go sugar-free myself.

9.5.25.jpg

Oliver: Granny Morgan! We can see you!
David: You’re busted!
Mary: Ha ha, Mum! So much for sugar-free!
Morgan: I thought you were busy dancing and it looked so tempting.

9.5.26.jpg

at the Snow Festival
Oliver: We only stayed at the Fair to see if there were any interesting things at the stalls. Mum is after a special mushroom.
David: And then we hopped over to the Snow Festival. Grandad Bear says he used to take Mum and Aunt Prue every time.
Oliver: I went sledding with Mum
David: And I went with Auntie Prue.
Oliver: It was brilliant!
David: Yeah.

9.5.27.jpg

Oliver: When we got back, some Dude was on the doorstep with a gift for Mum.
David: That was a bit random. She didn’t even have time to change from soaking in the hot spring.

9.5.31.jpg

David: Mum did some canning after that. She says she’s tried all the canning recipes now. I think Dad is wondering why she still hasn’t changed her clothes.

Notes
Mary's Bakery is one of the lots in Finchwick village, changing it's status to Retail from Residential. I've added the Simple Living lot trait to keep within her requirements.

Running a bakery, with all the goods either in a display case or in the self-service machines is so much easier than other shops. The customers wanting to buy are all in one place so it’s easy to spot the sales icons.
The profits on all the recipes Mary wants to try are not high. However, her incentive to make profits is reduced by handing a quarter over to Fredrick.

Mary’s romantic prospects are not wide. Lance is nice but didn’t really respond to Mary’s light flirting. If things aren’t working out, I can bring in the other option of the challenge which is – fall in love with someone you’ve gifted your baked goods to. That could be anyone, right?

Congrats to Mary on opening up her own bakery!
She's making great progress on cooking all her required recipes.
(My sims have done several culinary mini-challenges in my Mishmash legacies, so my Baker will not be as ambitious as Mary. :D  )
I am rooting for her to place 1st in the Pie Competition!

Fredrik, you are such a jerk!  You don't even work enough to support the children and complain that $7k is less child support than usual.
Please eat cowplant cake twice in a row so the court awards child custody to Mary!
(Watcher, you've done a terrific job of making Fredrik utterly dislikable!)

Fredrick is a jerk!
His gardening help really does consist of talking to the plants.
He never helps the boys with their homework nor encourages their artwork.
He occasionally hugs them but not as often as their grandparents - I add them to the club at weekends too in order to build their relationship with Oliver & David.
He's not going to happy next week. Mary needs a vacation to learn a couple of recipes so the bakery will only open 3 days.  ;D

Makey MishMash Legacy 9.6: Lady Marmalade

Makey MishMash Legacy 9.6: Lady Marmalade

Previously: Mary opened her bakery in Finchwick Village; Prue tried to set her up with one of her customers; the bees finally produced honey after their long Winter sleep; Fredrick was disappointed that Mary’s baking income keeps reducing; the boys continue to enjoy their stayovers.

L-to-R: Mary & Prue - David, Fredrick, Oliver
9.4.family.jpg
2 Olde Mill Lane, Henford-on-Bagley

Prue: We didn’t like to let the boys know, but we’d had several warnings about Choc Chip getting quite old. It wasn’t a surprise when she finally had to leave us but that didn’t make it any less sad. She’s been a good goat and given us lots of lovely milk.

9.6.1.jpg

Fredrick: So, Mary, now Choc Chip’s died, there must be room for me to move in!
Oliver: Oh yes! Please say “yes”, Mum! It would be wonderful!
Mary: Darling Oliver, I would love, more than anything, to have you boys move in. But your father and I would not get along well. I’m so sorry.
Oliver: Oh.

9.6.2.jpg

David: I’m so glad we’ve got another goat. I really miss Choc Chip.
Mary: What shall we call her?
David: What about Cappuccino, as she’s brown?
Mary: Cappuccino it is!

9.6.4.jpg

Bear: It’s nice to meet one of the girls’ neighbours.
Celia: Mary and Prue are great to live near. They’re always giving me baked goods. It’s amazing my waistline hasn’t increased.
Bear: I’m glad they’ve got friends like you.
Celia: Not like that awful ex of Mary’s. Can you believe he asked Mary if they could move in, in front of Oliver? Now the boys will think she doesn’t want them to live with her!
Bear: That’s OK. I’ve had a word with them. They’re quite happy and they know their Mum loves them very much.

9.6.7.jpg

Oliver: I think we’ll have to leave for school before Auntie Prue’s finished breakfast.
Bear: You’re all filled up on Pumpkin Scones anyway.
Oliver: It’s going to seem like a long week!
Bear: Time for one last hug?
Oliver: Always.
Bear: And don’t forget what I told you boys! You know what to do.
Oliver: Friday can’t come fast enough!

9.6.8.jpg

Mary: Prue and I took a little culinary exploration trip to Batuu. Here we are in our local costumes. We both had our hair done differently too. It was fun and I’ve got two new recipes – Batuu Bon and Mustafarian Lava Roll. I can’t wait to try them out at home.

9.6.9.jpg

Prue: Come on, Mary! Going on Cupid’s Corner is fun. Look – there’s these guys, from somewhere called The Gallery, and they’re both called Base Sim! Isn’t that funny? Do you think they’re related?

9.6.10.jpg

Prue: Mary wouldn’t go on Cupid’s corner so I invited all the single guys I know. One of them must be right for her. She gave them all some of her baked goods so they’ll know she’s a good cook. She wasn’t interested in Lance, who she’d met at the Bakery last week, so I tried flirting with him. Awkward! I don’t know what his deal is but he’s just not into either of us!

9.6.14.jpg

Prue: Mary mostly seemed taken with Faiz, the flower seller, but he couldn’t stay long.

9.6.13.jpg

Faiz: I wasn’t sure you’d come. Your sister said you’d enjoy an evening out.
Mary: She’s an incorrigible match-maker! But I am glad you asked. I - I enjoy your company.
Faiz: Same here. What do you think of this wine?
Mary: It’s not bad. I’d like to have a go at nectar making but life’s hectic enough as it is.
Faiz: I love your garden – all those flowers!
Mary: I can’t keep up with all the produce. I’ve tried every canning recipe. If I could, I’d make Lemon conserve. It would be like orange conserve…
Faiz: Ah, my own sweet Lady Marmalade.

9.6.16.jpg

Mary: At the end of the date, Faiz gave me a rose. It may be corny and he is a flower seller, but it was so lovely. We’d shared a first kiss. Am I in love? Oh, I think I may be heading that way!

9.6.18.jpg

Mary: Thanks for setting me up with Faiz!
Prue: Thanks for bringing me out for my birthday!
Mary: Are you having fun?
Prue: Definitely. I’ve been Scanning the Room and that shy guy over there is mm mm mm!
Mary: I think he used to be the Henford delivery boy. He’s a Young Adult now.
Prue: I think he could deliver me some sweet, sweet loving for my birthday!
Mary: Oh Prue! You’re such a Romantic!

9.6.19.jpg

Oliver: We’re back!
David: And it’s our birthday!
Oliver: Grandad Bear told us we could!
Mary: You could what?
David: Move in for our Teens. We’re all packed up.
Oliver: And we’re staying!
Mary: Oh – boys! You’ve made me so happy!

9.6.20.jpg

David: Who’s that guy holding Mum’s hands
Oliver: It’s Faiz, the flower seller.
David: Why is he at our birthday party?
Oliver: Beats me. Let’s blow out our candles!

9.6.24.jpg

David: Helloo? I look really great in my party outfit. Look at me rocking that hat!
Oliver: Only because people can’t see the sorry hairstyle you’ve got!
David: Well, brother dear, at least my party outfit isn’t all moth-eaten!
Oliver: Mum says we can fix it with the mirror!

9.6.26.jpg

David: Here’s me with my improved haircut. I’ve joined the Cheerleading squad so I’m getting some practise in. Oliver’s joined the scouts. Mum says we’re off on holiday tomorrow. Dad is not happy. He got even less money from the Bakery this week. He said he might just start "helping out" there, to make sure Mum isn't cooking the books. Mum said that was the only way he would get another penny from her. I wish I'd known that Dad was getting most of his money from Mum. It puts things in a whole new light.

9.6.27.jpg

Prue: The boys were so tired, they’ve gone to bed.
Mary: It was fun, seeing the statue in the village and trying the Bunuelos, but the heavy rain is literally putting a damper on things.
Prue: Are you sure you didn’t want to enter the pie competition?
Mary: There’ll be another one in 2 weeks. I’m in no rush to finish my requirements. I really want to establish the Bakery financially.
Prue: Well, that looks like another excellent cake, Sis. Happy Birthday!
Mary: Pfft!

I decided that, with Gen 10 becoming Teens, I really needed to take control of their aging up Traits. Mary has struggled long enough, being separated from her boys for more than half of each week.

To be totally honest, I forgot about the Finchwick Fair until the time rolled past. What am I like? I really must learn to prioritize!

Mary’s requirement was only to “fall in love…”. Is there room in her life for a more serious relationship? And what about Prue? Will she romance the elusive ex-delivery boy, Rahul Chopra?

OH Fredrik, you will forever be a jerk! Now that the boys live with Mary, you should be paying ALIMONY not receiving child support.
Cut him off without another simoleon, Mary! You don't owe that cheetah anything more.

Ah, Watcher, I'd wondered when you'd have the boys move in with Mary.
I don't know about hte UK, but children in the States have say in which parent they live with upon reaching a certain age (average about 13-14 years old?).

Yes, Faiz! I'm so glad that Marys shares her Watcher's soft spot for Faiz! Haha. <3

I would wave Fredrick "bye-bye" but Mary's requirements have him "helping" with either the produce or the Bakery and I've decided to have it continue.

I'm not sure what the law is here in the UK for children wanting to re-arrange custody agreements. I would imagine they get a say in it as some age. As far as the game is concerned, I couldn't risk another unhelpful trait. Slob and Goofball are just about manageable.

Faiz is cute. He's wasted as the Flower Seller. I'm not convinced by Rahul Chopra for Prue. He didn't make a great spouse in a previous challenge of mine - beautiful kids though - and Prue is Family-Oriented now.

Makey MishMash Legacy 9.7: Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch

Previously: Choc Chip the goat had to leave but sent Cappuccino to keep the milk flowing; Mary’s father, Bear, hatched a plot with Oliver & David; Mary & Prue visited Batuu; Mary fell for Faiz and Prue fell for whoever was in the neighbourhood; on Friday, the boys returned and moved in permanently, aging up into Teens; they all went on a trip to Selvadorada, missing that week’s fair and the Prom.

L-to-R: Oliver, Mary, Prue, David
9.6.family.jpg
2 Olde Mill Lane, Henford-on-Bagley

Bear: How’s it going?
Oliver: We love living here. It’s so great knowing that we don’t have to leave on Monday morning.
Bear: Watcher’s had a word with me. How do you feel about being the next heir?
Oliver: What would I have to do?
Bear: Nothing yet. Becoming a Lllamacorn Scout and a Nerd Brain is always helpful… oh, and get an A in school of course.
Oliver: I can do that.
Bear: Great.

9.7.1.jpg

Oliver: Handiness is really easy!
Bear: With a bit of mentoring and the Tiny Residence (100 squares), most skills come quick.
Oliver: I’m enjoying this.

9.7.2.jpg

Fredrick: So, no more child-support?
Prue: You’re not supporting them anymore. There’s no reason to pay it.
Fredrick: But you know I’m a struggling entertainer?
Mary: You can help at the Bakery and continue helping here in the garden, if you like. I’d carry on paying a quarter of the Bakery income.
Fredrick: Gross or Net?
Mary: Take it or leave it!

9.7.6.jpg

Mary: Hi Faiz. It’s good to hear your voice.

Mary: I’m glad you enjoyed meeting the boys. I love having them here all the time now, when they’re not in school.

Mary: Oh, you know, caring for the animals, baking, lots of baking.

Mary: The ice-cream maker is at the Bakery. I’ve tried so many of the recipes. You should come taste some.

Mary: See you there later, then! Bye!

9.7.3.jpg

Oliver: Come on, Cappuccino, drink up. I know you eat the hay from the manger but it’s so cute to bottle feed you.

9.7.4.jpg

Mary: om…om…oo, the recipe for Sugar-Free Carob Coconut Cake. I must try it!

9.7.5.jpg

Mary: Hi Lance. You really are quite the regular here.
Lance: I just can’t get enough of this ice-cream. It’s amazing.
Mary: My friend Faiz likes it too.
Lance: Your boyfriend, Faiz?
Mary: We’re just friends, very good friends.

9.7.7.jpg

Mary: This week has gone so quickly. I thought it was the pie competition last week but it was the eggs and chickens.
It’s pie week now and I’ve entered my very best Exotic Fruit Pie, made with perfect pineapples. The only other 2 entries are both Exotic Fruit Pies but they’re only Normal. Mine is Excellent. First prize is in the bag.
The boys agreed to miss Prom again to help things along. They’re good boys. It’s taking them some time to catch up their grades but they finally both got A’s after Friday’s exams. I’m proud of them.

Notes
Mary’s remaining 2 cooked desserts are Plasma Fruit Salad, needing Vampire Lore 9, and Bunuelos which I thought she’d eaten in Selvadorada but it’s not appearing on her list of items. I’ll take her back and double-check.
There are 4 remaining ice-cream flavours and 3 popcorn varieties and then she’s done!

I haven’t put any requirements on the Bakery success but it would be good to see it more profitable before it’s time for the boys to age into Young Adults.

Oliver’s Gen 10 requirements cannot start until he is a Young Adult so we’ve got another 2 weeks unless I age them up early.

I imagine Bear must be a very good mentor and the Homey lot trait is active, because a 100-tile Small Home doesn't give the perk which boosts skill gain.
With a 100-tile Small Home, the only perks are lower power needs and better moods.

Wow, Mary is a saint. I could NOT stomach still having Fredrik around, regardless of whether he's the boys' biological father.
She doesn't owe Fredrik any more, though he should be paying alimony because the divorce resulted from his cheating. Boo, Fredrik!  *thumbs down

I haven't been keeping track of which generations you've done or haven't done, so Oliver's generation will be a pleasant suprise.
Um, he is the next heir, right? There are question marks in their stats....

Heratfelt congrats to mary on winning that elusive Pie Competition!  Yay! *throws confetti

Yes, we have the Homey lot trait and I think Bear did get the Mentor trait too. Oliver's really benefitting.

I was so tempted to have Mary bribe the mayor but that can backfire. It was a relief that she got the prize.
