You're right - I completely missed that episode. I feel kinda sorry for Rene although maybe it's the name that makes her be awkward :)

I'm not sure what you mean?  What does the name "Renee" have to do with her behavior?
I really don't like Renee always following Dorian around, chatting him up and flirting. *sighs
Um, Denis might need to check out Cupid's Corner....

Looks good from the outside. Denis & Desiree will love it, I'm sure.
I started furnishing it my building save.  So far, five bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms.  It's massive!
And I think I'll try converting the sunroom into an attached garden. We shall see!
Haha, I need to get the build uploaded to my library so I can download it onto the Costa lot in Ravenwood.

Best wishes to you, friend, for a wonderful week!

The house looks nice!  Of course, I'm no expert in Romanian architecture, so I have no idea what the better option would be for the rounded dormers, so I'd say your choice of replacements was just fine!
Loving all the fun and hijinks your having with the new expansion!

Haha, I also don't know what the main features of the various Romanian architectural styles are.
But if that building serves as the Mourningvale Town Hall, I believe that it's "sufficiently authentic" for my Costas. LOL!

And yes, I'm really loving the new Life & Death expansion pack!

9.3: Death Everywhere

Sunday, Week 60, Year 5 (late winter)
Desiree: Last week, Ravenwood finally opened up to outsiders so Denis and I could move here.
Sunday night, we met Dorian and Renee who agreed to become our roomies the same night.
those two worked on school and scouts; Denis and I were busy around Ravenwood.
While Denis collected 24 out of the 26 Tarot Cards, I helped alleviate Ghost Mother Alice's sorrow.
On Saturday, after Denis completed his last Order of Lenore favor, the four of us aged up to young adults.
From L to R: Renee, me, Denis, and Dorian.

Denis: Watcher finally relocated our new home from some alternate universe.
Dorian and Renee benefited from the skill boosts from our Tiny Home.
But, dang, it sure feels good to be able to stretch our legs and live indoors for a change.
Even our garden has moved indoors!

Desiree: We've only furnished the first floor of our two-story house so far.
Well, besides two of the upstairs bedrooms: one for Renee and one for Dorian and me.
That black & white bedroom on the left is for Denis. It's got its own ensuite.
Below the greenhouse at the top right, there's a nursery with its own bathroom.

Denis: We're still undecided about leaving out the graves of Grandma Gisele and Grandpa Daniel.
But we do strengthen their connection to the living world.
That third gravestone?  Surprise it's mine!
Dorian: I was even able to strengthen your connection, which makes no sense at all!

Monday
Desiree: This morning before our first day of work, I complete my Soul's Journey as a living sim.
Denis: A living sim's Soul Journey consists of six milestones and I also reach the sixth (Dreams Fulfilled)!
Desiree: Dorian's doing so well! He's already at the 5th one (Quite a Journey)--he's so close to done!
Dorian: Yes, I only need to woohoo at Ciudad Enamorada's motel and max my Fitness. Piece of cake!
Renee: Eh, I'm being ignored but I've reached my 4th milestone (No Regrets).

Desiree: Sitting in the new nursery makes me yearn for a child with you, Dorian.
Do you think it's time, darling, to hear the pitter patter of little feet?
Dorian: No, please! We've just started new careers and I only have Level 6 Charisma!
And you're even a Highflier! Let's wait until I'm at least a Level 8 Mortician.

Denis: Today's the first workday for Desiree and Dorian.
Desiree swoons at the sight of Dorian in his undertaker outfit.
I have to revive her with smelling salts and she barely makes it to work on time!
Desiree: Thanks, Denis! We'll wait until you're off work to go to Ciudad Enamorada tonight!

Dorian: Well, the good news is that Renee and I finished Mansion Baron today while I was at work.
Desiree: Hey that's great! And you completed your Soul's Journey as a living sim, too, right?
Dorian: Yes, but my Bucket List's gone so I no longer "need" to go to that seedy motel in Ciudad Enamorada.
Desiree: Dude, please! If you really want, we can still go there this weekend!

Tuesday
Denis: After several hours writing Horror novels, I realize I should be seeking my 25th Tarot Card in the crypt.
Luckily, I find it after about an hour or so of exploration!

Denis: Since Renee's out of the question, I periodically check Cupid's Corner for an attractive match.
Can you believe I'm matched with a Servo named Masa who lives in Oasis Springs?
As if I'd date the Servo created by my Great-Great-Great-Great Grandpa Thyme, the Gen3 Costa heir!

Coronis and I now share maxed friendship but we can't become BFFs.
I send her on a recon mission for the Crow Collective.
Apparently, she brings me back a gift but I can't figure out what it is.

Wednesday
Denis: Using my 25-card deck, I summon the Grim Reaper.
And he gifts me the Death Tarot Card, which completes my collection.

Grim: Hey, thanks for asking me to be your best friend! You're actually my first!
Denis: Yeah, I'm thrilled about our friendship, too, because…reasons.
Grim: HEY! Not you trying to peek under the hood!!!

Desiree: Nice! We both got promoted today and chose different Undertaker branches!
Dorian: I'm glad you chose the Funeral Director branch. Since I'm Gloomy, the Mortician branch suits me better!
Desiree: Don't you love our career outfits? Let's wear them all the time, even when we're not working!

Thursday
Denis:   I was a L6 Chef Monday, then the Well granted me two full promotions by this morning.
I throw a party and cook three Gourmet Cooking dishes to complete my Master Chef aspiration.
It's time for me to finally join the Reaper profession!

Renee: Denis is constantly checking Cupid's Corner these days and I'm always left to do the busy work.
Today, I'm tasked with selling off all the food Denis and I prepared as part of our culinary aspirations.
We'd been saving it in family inventory so it wouldn't spoil.  Well, of course, Denis has the Fresh Trait now.
Things are not looking up for my future in this household…

At Club Eternity in Mouningvalue
Denis: Thank you for joining me for this Get-to-Know-You date, Tim.
I never expected to meet someone like you on Cupid's Corner.
Tim (arches an eyebrow): Someone like me?  What exactly do you mean?
Denis: Oh, attractive, sophisticated, intelligent, debonair…
Tim: Why, thank you! I've seen you around but you always seemed so unapproachably busy.

Denis: We moved here as teens 2 weeks ago and became young adults last Saturday.
We finally abandoned our Tiny Home for a luxury manor on Sunday. So, yes, we've been busy.
What about you? With your Ravenwood surname, I imagine you were born and raised in these parts.
Tim: Well, if you must know, I'm completely down on my luck these days.
I was the child heir to the Old Ravenwood Estate in Crow's Crossing, but my father lost our ancestral home in a gambling bet.

Tim: Thanks for inviting me over for a tour of your lovely manor.
Denis: It's only me, my sister and her boyfriend, and..um…a helper.
The house has five bedrooms and a nursery, so if you're tired of living alone…
Tim: Are you serious? I would love to move here. And I could certainly sweeten the deal, so to speak.
Denis: I'm sure you could.

Friday
Denis: Things are really working out for me lately!
Today's my first day of work as a Grimtern, starting out as a Level 4 Collections Agent.
Netherworld Department of Death, aka NWDD, here I come!

After scrying for my assignment, I scry again to travel to Glimmerbrook's Elixir & Brews bar.
There, I close Netherworld Fissures and Harvest Souls (which I later release to the Netherworld).
There's some office admin involved, too, like ordering office supplies and analyzing death trends.
My performance reaches gold before my work day is half over. Today's probably a tutorial, right?

I almost skip the "Cook Grimbrosia" for the Grim Reaper task.
But, heck, I have enough ingredients to make two servings so I whip up one.
Grim and I are already besties, though, so do I even need to gift it to him?
I guess I'll spend my remaining two hours socializing with other Grimterns.
And how do I find out about my Soul Quota, anyway?

Renee: After all I've done for this household, can you believe Denis moved in that himbo?
Coronis the Crow: Would you mind not yelling at me?
Renee: Yes, inf fact, I do mind. And another thing, you bird brain…
Aaaarrrgggh!

Desiree: Eh, I warned her to stop provoking Coronis!
Coronis: Hey, it wasn't me! Look, I'm over here sleeping! zzzZZZzzz
Grim: Yes, I can confirm that your housemate died by Murder of Crows.

Saturday
Denis: Why is Desiree even hosting Renee's funeral? She despised her for always flirting with you, Dorian!
Dorian: That's because Desiree's a Funeral Director. You know, professional pride and all that.
Tim: But why did she have to start Renee's funeral at 3 am?
Dorian: Well, duh! Desiree's work starts at 9 am and she didn't want to take the day off.

Desiree: Gentlemen, would the three of you mind piping down back there?
Let us conclude this sorrowful occasion with a Moment of Silence! (Good-bye and good riddance, Renee!)

Notes
*Connections or not?: Desiree and Dorian started their Undertaker careers at Level 3.
Deisree's Highflier trait and her Saturday shift probably explains why she's shot 2 levels past Dorian.
Only Denis bought the Connections trait, since he wanted to reach L8 Chef first. (Thank you, Well!)
I'm enjoying all three careers a lot; the Undertaker outfits are especially attractive!

*Reaper's Soul Quota:  The Soul Quota can be checked on any computer at NWDD.
It counts Denis' "personal and Netherline contributions" (does that releasing souls to the Netherworld?)
Denis' current Soul Quota status is 13 out of 25 souls.
He almost bought 50 souls from Waylon Warez (the Mysterious Merchant at Crow's Crossing).
But then we realized it's a weekly quota and Denis has only worked 2 days, so let's wait and see.
Hopefully, he can always buy more souls later, if it seems he might not reach his weekly quota.

The Reapers under Grim have a weekly quote of 25 souls.
By the end of Day 2, Denis et al. had reached 13 out of 25 souls (all Denis's souls by the way).
So he visited Waylon Warez after work and was about

*Funeral at Rav3enwood's Cemetery Lot:
Bringing premade food to the event won't complete the "Serve Food" funeral tradition.
We had to add a mini-fridge and counter to the venue so Denis could prepare a Ceasar Salad.
I doubt that I'd want to create a permanent or temporary space on the home lot for funerals.

*Funeral in general in the new pack: They run differently from MWS weddings and Lovestruck dates
I did two practice runs in a separate file before having Desiree host one in my legacy save.
Mainly, she had to choose around seven funeral traditions in order to achieve gold-medal status.
When choosing only 3 or 4, funeral tracker ran out of goals before she could get a gold medal.

*Renee's afterlife: We're not done with Renee yet, but we hit the max no. of images, lol.
Her "saga" will continue the following day (Sunday).

*Ravenwood Festivals: There's always something going on somewhere in Ravenwood.
With three different work schedules, however, it's hard for everyone to be free at the same time.

Funeral director career is too close to my real life, lol!

I'm not sure tales of Sim funerals will rival the stories that come out when my oh gets together with his vicar colleagues. Macabre, hilarious, and with occasional punch-ups. As our funeral director friend said, "where there's a will, there's a family!"

I'm sure Desiree and Denis won't have check graveyard molehills for bones before the dog walkers find them or keep the family calm because the new (cheaper) gravedigger hired by the funeral director didn't dig the hole properly. They probably won't have to deal with the aftermath from a joy-rider in a jcb digger decided to escape the pursuing police by taking a short cut through the cemetery. They may have to call mourners to order because they're too busy fussing over the son of the deceased, who is in handcuffs on day-release from prison.. These are all things oh has done.

I could go on but I'd better not. It is fun to see you explore the new pack, including at least one new death. I'm filled with trepidation for Renee's future appearance.

Have fun, Watcher!

9.4: You Can't Hurry Love

Sunday, Week 61, Year 6 (early spring)
Desiree: Last week was our first full week as young adults.
Desiree and Dorian started advancing in their respective Undertaker branches.
Denis: After completing my Master Chef aspiration, I switched careers from the Chef to Reaper.
On Tuesday, I went on a date with a Cupid's Corner match named Tim Ravenwood.
He agreed to move in as a housemate but we've ended up Romantic Partners.
Friday, Renee provoked our crow until Coronis sicced the Crow Collective on her.
From L to R: Dorian, ghostly Renee, Desiree, Denis, and Tim

Denis: Today's assignment sends me to the home of Renato Costa in Evergreen Harbor.
I'd never met the Costa founder before so you can imaging my excitement!

No, I'm not reaping a distant Costa relation.
The deceased sim is Sota Yamamoto, a townie who happened to die there from Hunger.
(Doesn't Death by Hunger take a long time though? He must've arrived starving.)

Back at the office, I remember to check my Soul Quota again.
17 out of 25 souls ain't bad for 3 workdays.
Of course, it helped that I got special assignments on two days, where I had to harvest souls and close fissures.

Renee: Tonight I have a Bucket List goal to travel.
When I fulfill it by exploring the Forgotten Grotto and complete all of my ghostly Unfinished Business..
At the end of my Soul's Journey as both a living sim and a ghost, I earn the Burning Soul trait.
Now I can visit Mourningvale's Baleful Bog to rebirth into any household at any life stage. I'll do that tomorrow!

Monday
Renee: That's so sweet of you to cook Ambrosia for me! I was planning to rebirth into a different household.
But if you want me to stay here…
Denis: Actually, no. Your Burning Soul trait has earned you the right to Rebirth anyway, so I have a favor to ask you.
Renee: Of course! You and Desiree helped me with school, scouts, aspirations, skills, and more. How can I refuse?

Renee: Um, can I talk that back?
Denis: Too late now! C'mon, you'll be reborn no matter what. Might as well help us with another unique death type!
Watcher: After her death, Renee's reborn as an infant to the Chestnut Ridge branch of the Egglestons.
Desire: Finally!

Tim: I've been pulling weeds and upgrading plumbing like a common domestic, Denis!
When do we start doing the fun stuff?
Denis: First, I'd like you to earn enough satisfaction to live comfortably. A Steel Bladder's nice, right?
What exactly do you mean by the fun stuff? We won't have time to become Romantic Explorers for a while, sadly.
Still, there's a question I've been meaning to ask you...

Tim: Yes, I will absolutely marry you, Denis Costa! And I see you no longer have a two-tone hairstyle.
Denis: Yes, no more wild hair for me. I want to start a family!

Desiree: Darling, please say we'll be together forever and always!
Dorian: Nobody but you for me, Desiree! And you maxed and quit your career today. Is it time for a family?
Desiree: Yes, a family...in a sense,

Denis: Who is that other Grim you invited over, Desiree?
Desiree: He says he was here this morning when Renee died. He's agreed to be my baby daddy.
Denis: C'mon, Boss! Are you coming with me to get our science baby or not?
Original Grim: Sheesh! I'm your[/b] boss! Why are you being so bossy!?

Tuesday
Denis: And here are our little Brimborn infants. My spellcaster son's name is Hades for obvious reasons.
Desiree: I named my non-occult daughter after the Haitian Voudou deity of the dead, Maman Brigitte.
Both infants are redheads with violet eyes, but only Hades has the Costa pointy ears.
Denis: That's mah boi!

Wednesday
Bianca (Gen8 heir): I can't believe you two, Desiree and Denis! Why are we only hearing all this today?
You're both married with babies and will be having more babies?
Andres: I'm glad to finally meet your spouses! How do you do, Dorian? Nice to meet you, Tim!
Bianca: So, when are you inviting us over for a stayover?
Desiree: You know how it works, Mama. The grandparents are older, so we'll invite them to stay over first.

Vitor: Thanks for inviting Kian and me to stay over, Denis. It'll be great to spend time with you all.
Denis: Of course, Grandpa Vitor! I grew up under your care. I love that you can also meet our children!
Vitor: Your little Hades is the whole package, isn't he? A pointy-eared spellcaster with violet eyes and red hair!
Denis: Yes, he is definitely "one of us"!

Thursday
Denis: As soon as I arrive at NWDD, I seek out Grim to share baby pics of our beautiful son!
I'm glad to see that "my" Grim is still Da Boss!
Due to an Emergency at NWDD, I spend my entire shift doing repairs and closing fissures here.

I'm still five souls short of my weekly quota.
When exactly does my week end?

So far, I'd only been releasing souls that I'd reaped during work.
But, to be on the safe side, I go ahead and release five souls from my personal inventory.
After meeting my 25-soul quota, I go upstairs to try to claim my reward.
Oh, do I have to wait until the actual end of the week, whenever that is?

Dorian: I brought home my L8 Mortician promotion tonight but am struggling with my daily task.
How do I "Read Thanatological Theories"?
I try to "Look Up Historical Deaths" at the bookcase, but that activity doesn't completely my task.
Oh, I see! It's on the computer!

Thursday
Tim: While feeding our picky eater Hades this morning, I discover I'm Family Oriented.
Now Denis is the only household caregiver without the Family Oriented trait!
Denis: Sigh, you don't have to rub it in! I've been saving a spot in hope of getting that trait, too!
By the way, I guess Thursday mornings mark the end of my quota week. My reward awaits me!

Desiree: Do you want to feel our baby, Grandpa Vitor?
Vitor: Yes, please! When's your due date?
Desiree: We've been so busy that we've lost track. Do you know, Tim?
Tim: We're both in our second trimester and I think we enter our third trimester today.
Vitor: Great! Kian and I will still be staying over here so we can meet your new arrivals!

Denis: I always love spending time with you, Tim, but this sweetheart box is taking forever!
My last shift ended at 1 am this morning and my next shift starts today from 2 pm.
How long can it take to finish sharing one sweetheart's box?
Tim: Oh, baby boy! Don't you listen to Diana Ross and the Supremes? *starts singing
You can't hurry love. No, you just have to wait.
Love don't come easy, it's a game of give and take…

Notes
*Two Grim Reaper baby daddies: I'm not sure what's going on here.
Denis could tell which Grim was his Boss since he was unacquainted with the other (second) Grim.
Denis' Grim (the NWDD boss and Hade's baby daddy) is Evil, Erratic, and Noncommittal.
Desiree had a science baby with Grim #2, who is a Generous, Erratic Slob. (I checked his traits at the time.)
However, I looked at the relationships of Desiree's daughter Brigitte and Brigitte does not know Grim #2.
When Brigitte opens the profile of Grim #1, he is described as "Father."
I guess only one Grim Reaper who's the NWDD Boss can bestow the Grimborn trait and tattoo?

How interesting that there's a rebirth route. Do Denis and Desiree still have a relationship with the reborn Infant?

Confusing with the multiple Reapers but at least the Infants know who their father is. It's all very interesting and fun to see new gameplay. And I have absolutely no idea where you'll go with the next generation!

I did want to try out the new Burning Soul trait on a sim whose consequences I had weaker feelings for hehe.
As a ghost, Renee could have visited the Baleful Bog in Mouningvale at any time once whe'd completed her Unfinished Business (the ghostly segment of her Soul's Journey).
And no, she disappeared from everyone's Relationship panel after her rebirth but, as the Watcher, I could of course help choose her destination household, life stage, and (I think) her starting trait.

As for the next generation, I've been toying with ideas for a new set of generational rules for the last heir, hehe.
Actually, I do have a fleshed out set of new rules which I will continue tweaking until the Gen9 children are older.
Still an 8-sim household is a bit much.  Hmmm, maybe half of the household could move out once the heir is chosen?

With Hades colouring/ears I'd assumed he was a slam-dunk for the next heir. Hm...more nooboos?

Yes, Hades will be nearly impossible to beat as the next heir contender! And yes, Desiree/Dorian and Denis/Tim will have one child each because I'm a masochistic simmer.
I just can't resist seeing what their children will look like! I had to cut my latest update short midweek to ensure I have enough room for baby spam, LOL!

9.5:  Full House

Thursday, Week 61, Year 6 (early spring)
Desiree: Last week, I maxed and quit my Funeral Director job and we all shifted to family mode.
Dorian and I got married as did Denis and Tim, then Denis and I each had a science baby with Grim.
Tim and I just checked our moodlets and we're in our third trimester, so we'll give birth Friday morning.
From left to right: Denis holding his son Hades, me, Tim holding my child Brigitte, and my husband Dorian

Denis: Thanks for crafting me that flower arrangement scented with Death Flower. Who should I invite over?
All the elders I know are related to us.
Desiree: How a homeless elder named Jun. Give me a second and I'll invite him over.

Jun: I don't know you, but thank you for this gift! Arrrggghhhh! *keels over
Grim: Honestly, why Jun Eggleston? Isn't he the grandpa of the recently reborn Renee (Chang) Eggleston?
Desiree: Mwahahahaha!

Denis: Today's assignment takes me to the Mirador del Amor nightclub in Ciudad Enamorada.
A comedian had been literally knocked sims dead with his jokes.
I reap the souls of 4 sims who died from laughter, then release them to the Netherworld back at NWDD.
I max my promotion and daily task bars, then spend the remaining 4 hours of my shift writing Horror novels.

I need to release 10 souls for my final (level 10) promotion but my inventory's down to 9.
After work, I head straight to the Specter graveyard to look for the Mysterious Marchant, Waylon Warez.
Waylon lets me purchase as many souls as I want. I buy 31 for §5,580 because…why not?
Also, I need to decide to either actively trigger unique deaths or simply encounter them in my Reaper career.

Friday
Desiree: It's well past midnight when we're finally ready to age up our little Grimborns!

Denis: I'd believed Hades was a spellcaster because he had a Glimmerstone in his inventory as an infant.
Now both toddlers have them, yet they have the Needs icon of non-occult sims.
OH well, I can easily grant Hades the Rite of Ascension to become a spellcaster when he's a teen.
Hades is an Independent toddler, whereas Brigitte is Angelic.

Denis: It's only 4 am so I have the brilliant idea to persuad Grandpa Vitor die from Beetle Juice.
I give him a Potion of Resurrection but then can't get him to drink my 3 glasses of Beetle Juice.
Oh well, I'll drink them myself!  I also had a Potion of Prompt Resurrection but it only lasted 24 minutes.
No worries. I made several servings of Ambrosia a few days ago.

Denis: This isn't going to plan at all!
I do managed the Death by Beetle Juice but, as a ghost, I can't eat Ambrosia.
Whatever. I ask Desiree to cast the Dedeathify spell on me and I'm back!
Desiree: Great timing, Denis. I've just gone into labor!

Desire: I give birth to a boy we name Blake, and Tim has a girl named Ravena after his surname Ravenwood.
Dorian left for work immediately after and Denis' shift starts soon, too.
Denis: Desiree and I manage to become good friends with our respective newborns before I leave for work.
Desiree: We also convert Denis & Tim's large bedroom into the toddlers' playroom.
They'll be confined there until all four children are toddlers.

Denis: I was thinking of taking today off then realize that Dorian and I both get off work at 5 pm today.
So here I am at Robles Point, San Sequoia, to listen to a plea to revive a deceased family member.
(Took me awhile to find the Listen to Plea social; it was buried underneath all the pie categories!)
I agree to revive the deceased since I have a good stockpile of souls in my personal inventory.
Back at NWDD, I release 10 souls from my inventory to  complete the task for my final promotion.

Denis: How do you like me in my new career outfit as a level 10 Reaper?
Dorian: I also finally become a level 9 Mortician. Only one more promotion to go!
Desiree and Denis are already good friends with our newborns.
As soon as Tim and I do the same, we can age them up! Let's go!

Saturday
Desiree: Our newest household members, both pointy-eared spellcasters, become infants around 2 am.
Brown-eyed Blake is my son with Dorian. Luckily for all of us, both he and Ravena are Calm infants.
Tim: And Ravena is my daughter with Denis. Isn't she stunning?
And you can tell that Blake will grow up into an attractive like his papa!

Tim: After smiling, Blake and Ravena enjoy a park visit, a first visitor, and bubble baths/baths.
That brings them to five milestones each.
Hopefully, we can help them earn five more milestones before this week's over.

Denis: Dorian and I are looking after Blake and Ravena while Desiree and Tim take care of Hades and Brigitte.
Dorian wants to max his Parenting skill, and I'm still hoping to become Family Oriented.
By the time Dorian leaves for work at 9 am, both infants have earned eight milestones.
I'm taking family leave today so they might be able to age up earlier.

Desiree: Blake and Ravena only need their 10th milestone now so Tim and I are working on that.
Denis: Meanwhile, I make a club with five vampires and two club activities: Rocket Science and Foosball.
Wth? Do they all have Sunlight Resistance?  Nobody's even starting to smoke yet!
Oh, there's one walking toward the shade of the porch. I'll invite him to play Foosball!

Grim: Seriously, Denis? You don't get enough of death at work?
Denis: You know I need 13 unique death types, Boss.  This here Death by Sunlight is my ninth!
Grim: So only four more t go! Good luck with that!

Dorian: Thanks to Tim and me, our infants learn their 10th milestones!
Since we can't age them up while Grim is "busy," we give them some extra Affection.
Tim: Inquisitive Blake is as handsome as we all expected.
And Ravena, who's Independent, looks like a little doll!

Denis: Hades and Brigitte have been toddlers for two day but their progress has been slower than usual.
Partly because I have an active career and partly because we've been more focused on Blake and Ravena.
They still have five days until their child birthdays, though. That's plenty of time to learn all their skills.

Desiree: What a relief! Now that all four kids are toddlers, they can freely mingle and play together!
We're all greatly relieved to have survived the raising of four infants.
But, dang, even with four caregivers in the house, four children are a handful!
(Grandpas Vitor and Kian don't count since we told them both to relax.)

Watcher: Now that we know what all four children look like, I'm announcing Hades as the next heir!

Notes
*Family Oreinted self-discovery: I was looking through Denis' self-discovery milestones.
He had one for Creative and two for Perfectionist, so now wonder he wasn't self-discovering a third trait!
I used a mod to remove one of the Self-Discovery: Perfectionist milestones.
We're crossing our fingers for Family Oriented, lol.

*Controlled Emotion moodlet for toddlers: This 6-hr +10 Fine moodlet ruins optimal toddler skilling.
Is this a glitch introduced by the recent patches? I've never encountered it before.
Are you experiencing this moodlet with your toddlers, too?

*So many children!: You're probably thinking I'm crazy for having the four children.
But I'm so curious whether Hades and Brigitte will resemble each other as they grow up.
Also, I want to look for family resemblance between (1) Hades and Ravena as well as (2) Brigitte and Blake.

Denis looks great in his level 10 reaper robe.

Congrats on getting all 4 kids to be Toddlers. The milestones always seem slow to start and then come on in spades after a time. They do for me too. All your Toddlers are looking very fine! Congrats to Hades though, on becoming heir.

Are you enjoying the double heir of Denis/Desiree? They both seem to be doing well.

I'm surprised that ghost Denis couldn't eat Ambrosia. When Mary was a ghost, she not only ate it but she'd made it herself. I wonder what the conditions are.

I'm surprised that ghost Denis couldn't eat Ambrosia. When Mary was a ghost, she not only ate it but she'd made it herself. I wonder what the conditions are.

For female Grimborn Brigitte and Desiree/Dorian's son Blake, Dorian was better than Desiree at helping them earn milestones.
When asked to place an infant in their playmat, Desiree had an annoying habit of repeatedly picking them up then putting them on the floor (not on the playmat).
After she did this at least four times in a row with both Brigitte and Blake, I had Dorian and Tim working with those infants instead.
I had Brigitte writing songs to keep her out of the way (she likes to pick infants up and put them on the floor while they "training" with another caregiver).

So, as for your question about the double heirs, it really depends on who the double heirs are.
Thanks to her Highflier trait, Desiree was able to quickly max her Funeral Director career without the Connections reward trait or using the Wishing Well.
She also drops queues more than the other three, so she's best at activities that shackle her to a skilling object (e.tg., writing songs).
I've considered moving her and Dorian out once he maxes his career, but...could I keep Blake? haha

I have no idea why ghostly Denis couldn't eat ambrosia.  A friend told me that it's glitch and that he may have been able to select "Get Leftovers" from the fridge and eat it that way.
But I'd already Dedeathified him when I leared about that workaround.  Ghostly Renee was able to eat Ambrosia prepared by Denis just fine.
I'll try the Get Leftovers thing the next time...

Hade thanks you for your congratulations! We think he'll make a dashing heir.  I wish the Grimborn trait brought more to the table than the tatoo scythe. No special power or perk?!

9.6:  How Are We Even Family?!

Sunday, Week 62, Year 6 (mid-spring)
Denis: Last week, our household doubled in size! Tuesday, Desiree and I each had a science baby with the Grim Reaper.
And Friday morning, we each had one child with our spouses.
It was a great week professionally, too, with both Desiree and I maxing our careers.
Dorian: Ahem, I became a L10 Mortician Saturday, but the vampires and birthdays overshadowed my last promotion!
Desiree: Congraulations, babe!
From left to right: Denis holding Ravea, Grimborn Brigitte, Tim holding Grimborn Hades, Desiree, Dorian holding Blake

Denis: I don't know how I never noticed how much Hades resembles his Great-Grandpa Vitor.
I'd forgotten that my Grandpa Vitor's complexion is much darker than Mama Bianca's or mine!
Hades has been crushing his toddler skills. He's already maxed Communication, Imagination, and Thinking.
Our other Grimborn, Brigitte, is quite slow. In fact, Blake and Ravena have caught up while Brigitte was sleeping!

Dorian: Now that our kids are toddlers, we hope to attend all the Ravenwood events as a family.
Today, we attend the Celebration of Life in Crow's Crossing.
Were we all supposed to come dressed in crow costumes?
The children are not impressed.

Denis: My Grimborn Hades and our daughter Ravena are both Independent. It's so evident!
Hades was the first to max Thinking this afternoon, followed by Ravena this evening.
Then, no long after, Hades is the first to max all his toddler skills. What a champ!

Monday
Desiree: This morning before work, Denis bought this lovely pond.
Shall I fill it koi, piranhas, sprites, or sharks? Pffft, of course, sharks! Here sharkies!
Shark #1: What does that human think they're doing?
Shark #2: I know right? Can't they see that we're extremely hangry?

Denis: Apparently, Desiree has been taunting those sharks all day while I was at work.
When she slips and falls into the pond, let's just say the sharks are extremely receptive.

Grim: Never a dull moment with you around, eh, Denis?
Denis: If only I could involve non-household members in the fun!
Grim: Whatever! Drowning is your tenth unique death, right?
Denis: Oh, Grim, you're keeping count! I'm so flattered!

Denis: You can eat the Ambrosia I prepared? Why?
Desiree: I have no idea why I can eat it but you couldn't.
Did it have anything to do with your cause of death? There! I'm baaaccck!

Tuesday
Tim:  By Tuesday afternoon, Ravena joined Hades by maxing all five toddler skills.
Among the four toddlers, Blake is making the slowest progress, though he's arguably the cutest.
Desiree: Wait, so Denis' kids are both ready to age up but mine aren't? Why, why, why?
Dorian: Even I must admit, Desiree dear, that you leave much to be desired as a caregiver.
Desiree: Is that a nice way of telling me that I'm a lousy parent?!

Wednesday
Dorian: I wake up Blake just before 6 am so he can finish his last few points of his remaining skill.
Denis: Can we all stay focused? I have work from 9 am today!
Tim: There's just enough time for the kids to age up, join scouts, and get makeovers.

Denis: That's my children on the left, with Desiree's children on the right.
Quite frankly, I'm a bit disappointed that our Grimborns aren't as attractive as our biological children!
Tim: Oh c'mon! Hades is a little hottie!
Desiree: Anywaaay, Hades is Erratic, Ravena Loves the Outdoors, Brigitte's Macabre, and Blake's Creative.

Tim: Our daughter Ravena is the most beautiful child of the bunch. Can't we use a mirror to give her pointy ears?
And Blake is such a gorgeous little boy, too. Our compliments to his parents!
Dorian: Why thank you! But Desiree's having a crisis in confidence over her parenting abilities these days..

Denis: Today's Reaper assignment takes me to the Jeong residence in Mirage Park, Del Sol Valley.
Here, I determine that the deceased suffered death by exhaustion. Is that the same as Overexertion?
Not me rejoicing over this poor soul's death, but this marks my eleventh unique death type!

Back at the office, I'm notified that the merfolk Riley Zi (one of Grandpa Vitor's four exes) passed away.
That's when I realize that my co-worker Nuihar Zi must be the spouse of Yvetti Zi, who's Riley's youngest child.
Watcher had mentioned the other day that Yvette's the last Zi in the house but she's childless.
Nuihar is an Erratic Materialistic sim who Hates Children, but I discuss expanding the family with him anyway.

Desiree: Once Denis is back from work, we all head to the Thinned Festival in Mourningvale.
We adults enjoy the free food and socializing.
Dressed in their crow costumes, the children introduce themselves to the other festivalgoers.

Thursday
Hades: Outdoor Adventurers doing some early-morning fishing FTW!
So cool that the four of us can all fish together!

Tim: Why do I even bother to complete the Bodybuilder aspiration, anyhow?
Isn't adding 45 days to my Edler life stage yesterday's news?
Oh wait, Hades will be moving out before I become an Elder!
I guess the Long-Lived trait might come in handy for Denis and me?

Desiree: Do you know how it happened, Denis?
Denis: I have no idea, sis. All I know is that Hades and Brigitte developed a Difficult family dynamic tonight.
Desiree: But how? Look at those two! They're not even sitting next to each!

Friday
Denis: Another boring day of closing Netherwold Fissures and gathering souls. This time in Ciudad Enamorada.
At the end of the day, I receive my daily wages and an additional vacation day.
I'm no math whiz, but even I think someone's miscalculating my wages.
I work 7 hours (9 am to 4 pm) at §602 an hour. So how do I make §5,749 a day?
Still, I prefer to be overpaid than underpaid, don't you?

Hades: I've been looking forward all day to visiting the Try Before You Die Casket Sale at Crow's Crossing!
But Papa Denis works until 4 and it takes our household forever to get ready to leave home.
By the time we all walk there from the Specter home, the Funeral Director is already closing shop!
Darn, I hardly got to ask her about her career!

Desiree: From there, we attend the Spice Festival where Dorian and Tim become Spice Champions for the first time!
Denis: Hades! Why are you picking on your sister? I see you are insulting her existence! Stop being mean!
Hades: No, Papa! She feels Hurt, but she's actually the one who started it! She's so devious!
Desiree: I don't understand why you two constantly argue and yet you are still Good Friends.
Brigitte: Eh, not friends for much longer!

Blake: Hades doesn't get along with my half-sister Brigitte, but Hades and I have been tight since we were toddlers.
We do everything together!
Hades: And we're the first to become Llamacorn Scouts, too!

Saturday
Denis: I'm sent to Windenburg Island to listen to a sim's plea for the life of their loved one.
Again, it takes me forever to find the "Listen to Plea" social.
It was in the "Actions" category?! It should be in the Career category or in the main menu. Sheesh!
Anyway, I revive the poor soul since I'm no longer scrounging for souls to get promoted.

Denis: My kids are so disappointed to only attend the last two hours of Ravenwood Family Day.
I speak with an Inheritance Lawyer who turns out to be a merlady.
Guess that makes sense since merfolk have longer longevity than the average sim.
Still, she didn't convince me to start writing my will today.

Blake: My cousin Hades is Erratic but he sure has better luck than I do!
He asked a specter for a gift and got a Treasure Map, but I couldn't even ask for a gift!
Then, we go looking for frogs in the fountain and only he found a frog!
Hades even has a better sister! Ravena is such a sweetie but my sister is the Macabre Brigitte.

Brigitte: The four of us are supposed to Practice Typing and stuff for Rambunctious Scamp.
As if I want to spend 4-6 hours in the same room as those losers, especially Hades!
Who needs them? I'm the only one who earned an A yesterday and finished Whiz Kid!
I'll just work on my Logic skill then. I can do Rambunctious Scamp later by myself.

Notes
*Difficult family dynamics: I"ve never played with this particular family dynamic before.
Thursday night, while they were doing Artistic Prodigy, I got a popup asking if the two had a Difficult Family Dynamic.
I clicked Yes, because I'd never had this particular prompt before.
Is it caused by Hades' Erratic trait?

"Difficult dynamic" - I've always answered "no" to that question. I think it's popped up for me when they've autonomously been annoying when the other was stressed/bored/upset. Maybe it's the Macabre trait? What does that actually entail? I could see an Erratic and a Macabre Sim winding each other up.
I've never really investigated the family dynamics before. Once you've got a particular relationship, can it change through interactions? Or do you have to dissolve it somehow?

The kids are lovely. Ravena has a really pointy chin with wide cheekbones. I wonder if that will go on into her adult face. Blake is the cutest, imho but Hades will make a great Heir.
