The Banwell SimTech Dynasty Week 6b: A Country WeddingPreviously in the Banwell household: they spent all of Sunday working on their skills, particularly Chad who maxed gardening and thrust the family into the Mid Tech EraEra: Mid Tech
Family from L-to-R: Taranos, Cherry, Chad holding Matthew, Hilda, Belle
Banwell Farm, 2 Olde Lane, Old New Henford
Good Soil, Natural Light, Good Schools, Off-Grid, Simple Living
Season: Autumn (1/4)
Hilda: I can help thee with thy schoolwork, Belle.
Belle: Why are you talking so strangely, Mother?
Hilda: Forsooth child, it is my natural tongue. Art thou quizzing me?
Belle: Never mind.
Cherry: It is a book, with words and pictures. It is truly a wondrous thing.
Matthew: ZZZZZZZ
Cherry: Can we get something to eat at the ale house, Mother?
Hilda: Nay, Cherry, wouldst thou open us to charges of debauchery? We are here to buy provisions from yon gentlewoman who methinks mayst provide us with a discount.
Cherry: I shall see if any of our neighbours are here.
Cherry: Good day, sir.
Imran: Hello? You don’t have to call me sir.
Cherry: You are only just a day younger than my mother. I am showing you respect. Why do you have pink paint under your eyes? Are you a jester?
Imran: It’s just something I’m trying. I might stop soon.
Cherry: And do you see that one? It looks like the rabbit that visits us.
Imran: I see it. I am enjoying lying here with you.
Belle: Did you hear, Cherry was seen lying in the middle of the village with an old man?
Hilda: Twas our neighbours son, Imran Watson. He is younger than us. Truly he would makest a goodly match for our Cherry.
Chad: Marry in haste and repent at leisure, they say.
Hilda: Who sayeth that? Well and we must away to meet with the family.
Belle: I don’t believe it. You want to marry Cherry off like a sack of potatoes.
Hilda: Potatoes are a valuable ingredient, new to these shores. Thou shalt be wanting a husband soon enough.
Belle: I will not!
Taranos: Wait up, Belle! You can’t go running around alone dressed like that.
Belle: I’ll run where I please and with whom I please!
Chad: Thanks for popping round, Elle (Scott).
Elle: Mum says you’re welcome in the ale house any time. It is a respectable establishment. Your mother and sisters would be quite safe.
Chad: I don’t think I’d be safe. You slay me! Will you be my girlfriend?
Elle: Well, that’s bold for you! Yes I will!
Principal: Welcome to Copperdale High. You may find us a little progressive but hopefully you’ll settle right in.
Belle: Thank you. We’ll do our best.
Principal: Now, Taranos. You’re a failing C. Let’s see if we can get that grade up a bit this week.
Taranos: I’ll try.
Hilda: Good day, Sir.
Thomas: Er hello?
Chad: It’s like this, Thomas. Our Cherry wants a child and that needs a husband. Your Imran seems a likely sort. What do you say?
Thomas: Are you trying to arrange a marriage here?
Hilda: Verily!
Chad: Our own wedding is so far back in my memory.
Hilda: Wouldst thou choose to marry me again?
Chad: Twice, Thrice and evermore.
Cherry: Mother and Father say you will give me a child and we are to be wed.
Imran: How do you feel about that?
Cherry: I really want a child.
Imran: We should probably get married then.
Cherry: Not until I know you can give me a child.
Imran: Oh, that’s not what I was expecting.
Cherry: You have strange bedclothes. Will you take the rabbit slippers off?
Imran: Maybe later…
Hilda: Why, thou are the veriest knave that ever I beheld!
Matthew: No-one remembered my birthday!
Hilda: Didst I not see thee open the knitted llama I made?
Matthew: But no cake.
Hilda: We are arranging to manage future cakes but for the nonce, cleanest up this filth!
Cherry: I am with child!
Chad: Congratulations, dearest Cherry. You shall wed Thomas tomorrow before the village fair.
As Cherry waited in the village church for her groom, who was literally running late, she spied her sister Belle in a glittering low-cut bodysuit. Her rebellion had reached new heights!
Imran: I’m sorry I’m late, dear heart. Are you alright?
Cherry: I seem to have inherited Mother’s tendency to morning sickness.
Imran: Will you marry me?
Cherry: Definitely.
Belle: Roll up, roll up. Buy my country wares (at 300% mark-up) or tip my brother playing the violin. Either way, we want enough to buy a dragon fruit at the village stall! Plus, vote for my egg and chicken in the competition. They’re the best!
Taranos: This is a strange gathering.
Belle: Yes. I hope I get my sale table back with all its stock…
Watcher: Me too!

NotesOnly Hilda will be channelling Shakespeare. I hope it’s not too annoying to read.
All the teens met have a useless trait: Mean, Hates Children, Glutton, etc and so many Children of the Ocean! I do hope Taranos and Belle find the perfect someone each.
Historically, in country areas, it was thought quite sensible to make sure a couple could conceive before sealing the marriage contract. After all, why get married if you aren’t having children? It was a different time. I was seriously in 2 minds about moving Imran in but he is an Animal Enthusiast so will take on that role in the household. He will also attempt the Country Caretaker aspiration which isn't on the ruleset list but it has 4 levels so I'm allowing it.
The family are allowed the Off-Grid Stove but should not be using it electrically. Many more meals are available on the outdoor grill, even with Simple Living on, so most mains are cooked on that. The other issue is that Baking is not an option. Now baking was definitely happening in the Tudor period so I have reached a compromise. I have put a windmill on the roof to generate enough power for Belle to bake things on the stove, getting up to level 3. There are no other electrically powered items and not much power is generated. The only other way to get the Baking skill, allowed in this era, is to buy the exorbitant cupcake factory – out of place in a country farm.
Saturday was a very busy day, wedding, fair, prom. It was unfortunate that I didn’t pack up the sale table before prom started. It and the chicken weren’t anywhere to be seen when they got home from the prom but I’m hoping they’ll turn up soon.
Tudor Park (wedding venue) by YuleNorwood – I had to remove a few radios. I left the dance floor and Sims dance on that without music! I searched high and low for another radio. There was definitely music for dancing in the Tudor times so I was quite pleased that they could.
