Game won't launch
« on: June 18, 2023, 01:20:14 PM »
I have a  new computer that has win 11 on it.  I'm trying to get my game to work but it says either it can't  connect to the internet or it simply flashes on the screen then nothing.  I've tried from the EA app and the Sims 3 app.  Neither work.  EA has been no help.  Their advice is to connect directly to the router which doesn't make any sense because it's just TheSims3 that won't launch.

My system specs are:

     Machine Id: {37F4DE31-4F90-49CD-9B9E-86147D7BE45F}
         Operating System: Windows 11 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 22621) (22621.ni_release.220506-1250)
                 Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
      System Manufacturer: LENOVO
             System Model: 82WK
                     BIOS: KWCN33WW (type: UEFI)
                Processor: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700HX (24 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
                   Memory: 32768MB RAM
      Available OS Memory: 32508MB RAM
Page File: 20787MB used, 16584MB available
              Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS
          DirectX Version: DirectX 12
      DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: 192 DPI (200 percent)
System DPI Setting: 144 DPI (150 percent)
          DWM DPI Scaling: UnKnown
                 Miracast: Available, with HDCP
Microsoft Graphics Hybrid: Supported
 DirectX Database Version: 1.4.6
           DxDiag Version: 10.00.22621.0001 64bit Unicode

Thanks!

Thank you for mentioning that you have a new computer. I've listed a few fixes to get Sims 3 to work properly below.

Sims 3 won't open: Alder Lake (Intel 12th-gen) CPU
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-3-won-t-open-Alder-Lake-Intel-12th-gen-CPU/m-p/11528168#M250997

–Reinstall DirectX 9: - Sims 3 still uses DX9, but isn't in Windows 10 or 11. * Restarting your computer maybe helpful after this step.

–Make sure .net framework 3.5 is turned on.

–Limit the game to 1 CPU core via Task Manager, as it starts to load.

–As for the EA App. They say they're still working on getting it to work better with older games. However, PuzzlezAddict does offer a link to use Origin to Download and Install the Addons that should help.

Sims 3 Expansion Pack Not Downloading From EA App

If the above doesn't help, please run the EA Error Reporter: (https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/ea/ea-app/run-ea-error-report/) and share your Report ID via a post at answers.ea Sims 3 Technical Help Board. I have a new laptop with Windows 11 and went nuts with this same issue on Sims 3 and Sims Medieval.  I used the patch for Sims Medieval, but for Sims 3, for me, the easiest solution was limiting the launcher to 1 cpu as the task manager loads. Runs fine. You can alt-tab out once the game starts loading and put all the other cpus back in for the actual game once you get past the launcher step.

You can learn how to limit the game to 1 CPU with the video tutorial linked below.
