Summertime Speed Demons

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Ah, summer. The sun is shining. Your Sims feel extra creative, smart, and athletic and want to get their skilling on. But, *gasps* your Sims are also forced to live in inhuman conditions! That's right, no humans allowed.

Challenge Rules
  • Remember, the General Rules apply to all Tournament challenges. Exceptions may be noted below.
  • In CAS (no Story Mode), create 1 Young Adult Non-Human Sim.
  • Immediately use Household Management and move Vladislaus Straud and Kristopher Volkov into your household. If you do not have the Werewolf pack, you can move in Caleb Vatore or Emilia Ernest in place of Kris. This is the only allowed use of the Household Management screen.
  • Additional additions to the household and moving the household may only happen in Live Mode - no using the Household Management screen. Only established demons (Spellcasters, Vampires, Werewolves, etc.) can be added to the Household. No Sim can be transformed into a demon or back to human once in the household. No Sim can be moved out of the household.
  • If a Sim dies, any skills they had may not be counted in your final total.
  • This challenge concludes at the end of 2 Sim weeks (Week 3, Day 1, 8:00 AM).

Scoring
At Week 3 Day 1, 8:00 AM, pause your game, and compute your score.

Skills: For each unique maxed skill, score 100 points per level. For each non-maxed (or duplicate maxed) skill, score 25 points per level. For example: Vlad maxes out Singing and receives 100 points per level (1,000 points). Kristopher can't help himself and accidentally maxes out Singing - he only receives 25 points per level (250 points).

Multiplier: Your starting Sim, Vlad, and Kris start with a multiplier of 1.00. For each Sim that joins your household you take a Demonization Penalty - subtract .20 from your multiplier. For example, Minerva moves in. Starting multiplier of 1.00 minus .20 = 0.80.

Total: Multiply your Skills by your multiplier

Here's an example:

Vlad maxes out Singing and receives 100 points per level (1,000 points). Kristopher can't help himself and accidentally maxes out Singing - he only receives 25 points per level (250 points). Your starting Sim maxes out Vampire Lore and receives 100 points per level (1,500 points). Minerva has 7 levels of Cooking and receives 25 points per level (175 points). These four Sims were utter deadbeats and these are the only skills you have. (You and I know this won't happen, but I don't want to overcomplicate the example.)

Unique Maxed Skills: 2 Skills = 25 levels X 100 points = 2,500 Points
Remaining Skill Points: 17 levels X 25 points = 425 Points

Multiplier: Minerva moves in. Starting multiplier of 1.00 minus .20 = 0.80.

Total: 2,500 + 425 = 2,925 Skill Points X 0.80 Multiplier = 2,340

A Few Additional Specifics:
The team does not want to edit and change the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else, we may ask affected players to redo their effort.

If you have questions and need clarifications, ask away — you can either post your questions in this thread, or if you feel a question might reveal a particular strategy you are considering, then feel free to PM the team. Choose the My Messages tab > Send Message > Send to Group (show membergroups) > Check the Challenge Board Moderator group.

The winner will be announced the Monday following the closing date below. Once the event has closed, everyone is encouraged to discuss how they approached the event, and the winner is expected to do so in detail.

I'm going to have to do maths again with this one, sigh.

The rules mention "Additional additions to the household and moving the household may only happen in Live Mode" & "Only established demons (Spellcasters, Vampires, Werewolves, etc.) can be added to the Household." Presumably this means we can't have children as they aren't supernatural at birth?

Sorry for more math @Vesper
You are correct - no having children for the reason you stated.

I only have the Vampire pack. Can I add just Vlad or do I need to sit this one out?

Hmmmm, that would put you at a significant disadvantage not having Kristopher and his starting skills, and you have had great participation this year, so we do not want you to have to sit out. Let me bring this to the team's attention, and perhaps we can devise an alternative. Any suggestions are welcome too. The first thing that comes to my mind would be allowing you to add x number of capped skills or y amount of remaining skill points. This rule set is courtesy of @mismck, so she has first dibs on making the call.

My main concern is maintaining my perfect participation streak. I don’t want to ask for any special considerations, so whatever the team decides is fine with me. I will still have fun with the challenge, no matter what.

Just updated the rules:

If you do not have the Werewolf pack, you can move in Caleb Vatore or Emilia Ernest in place of Kris.

This might be me overthinking things, but for a sim maxing out a skill another already maxed out; does the point reduction apply to both sims or only the sims who learn/master a skill after the first sim?

If you look at the example in the rule set, this exact situation is detailed. Vlad maxes out singing and receives 100 points per level (1000 points). So, no penalty for Vlad. Later, Kristopher maxes out singing and receives only 25 points per level (250 points).

Thank you; I wasn't sure if 'he' referred to Vlad or Kristopher.

I only have aliens and ghosts for non human sims. Though I don't expect to have much time to play over the next couple of weeks anyway.

I had a lot of fun with this one ^-^

Unique Maxed Skills: 27 Skills = 240 levels X 100 points = 24,000 Points
Remaining Skill Points: 153 levels X 25 points = 3,825 Points

Multiplier: 1.00

Total: 24,000 + 3,825 = 27,825 Skill Points X 1.00 Multiplier = 27,825

I am assuming you added a demon to the household? In your final calculation you have the multiplier at .80. That is what I will put on the leaderboard and with the correct total (22260). Let me know if that is correct.
