Three Strands Accord: Kenna Week 1.1: Incompatible – That’s What We AreWill: While Watcher helped Will & Kiama set up their houses, I researched what I needed to get onto a Distinguished Degree course. I need to demonstrate some level of skill in a few interests before I apply. Well, I had an idea about developing Charisma!
Will: Well, hello there Beautiful!
Summer: It’s cold!
Will: I’m lovely and toasty in my cold weather clothes.
Summer: Jerk! Why don’t you ask to see my cold weather outfit!
Will: That seems a little presumptuous.
Summer: I’m going inside.
Will: Good idea!
Will: Look, Travis, you like gaming, I need to develop gaming. It’s the perfect opportunity.
Travis: Wow – and you say I’d get lots of support and all the best gear?
Will: Not straight away, to be honest. But with 3 wages and a Watcher, the world’s our Virtual Reality.
Travis: Sounds great. Where do I sign?
Summer: Travis! I can’t believe you signed us up to live with this jerk. I hate him!
Liberty: You don’t mean that, Summer. You know you like Travis and he’s not dissimilar.
Summer: I do hate him. I really do. Red line half-way full and I want to fight him! We don’t just have zero-compatibility. We have anti-compatibility!
Travis: Give it a chance Summer. Don’t forget, you can give up the cooking and go for the Athletic career. You know you’re Active. You’ll love it. Me & Lib are going to keep our jobs but I thought I’d take up painting.
Liberty: I’m going to start woodwork. There’s all sorts of stuff you could do to be a bit more…interesting? Besides which, we’ll all get a makeover…
Summer: Ooh – let’s do some online shopping!
Will: I don’t understand what I did to make Summer hate me like that but Watcher suggested we do some cooking together and it worked. Half red line to half green line, just through making a couple of salads. They tasted a bit weird though. I think I’m ready to submit my University application now. And apply for some scholarships.
Will: Time to check the local dig sites for collectibles and plants I can research. Summer will return home from work first. Project Courtship to commence at 5pm sharp!
Summer: I suppose he’s OK. Not bad looking in a wimpy sort of way. Time for my first day in the Athlete career.
Will: I didn’t think you’d agree to come on a date with me.
Summer: What can I say? I wanted the chance to show off my new wardrobe here in Tartosa.
Will: You look amazing. You always did.
Summer: Someone’s been to charm school!
Will: I’m sorry about yesterday. This is all new to me.
Summer: You’re doing alright, Nerd. Anyway. I’m not fully committed to this hairstyle. I think I’d like something with plaits.
Watcher: I could document all the to-and-fro flirting and touching and giggling. Suffice it to say, Will and Summer shared their First Kiss (1st for both of them!) and decided to share another First (for both of them!) in the shower. Do you think it looks like there’s some biting going on? I think there’s some biting going on. I think I need some chocolate.
Summer: Um, Will?
Will: Yes?
Summer: You know this dynasty you want to found is sort of a race?
Will: Yes?
Summer: I think you’ve just taken the lead! I’m eating for two!

Watcher: More news was waiting for Will when he got home. He’s been accepted onto not one but 7 Distinguished Degrees.
Will: But which one?
Watcher: We’ve discussed that, remember? Why we thought Travis was such a good idea?
Will: I thought it was because Summer is so beautiful.
Watcher: Focus, Will, focus!
Travis: It’s great that you and Summer are engaged and expecting.
Will: Wait! Did we get engaged?
Watcher: Yes – it was by the fridge. It wasn’t very photogenic although it was adorable, obvs.
Will: Oh, OK. Great!
Travis: As I was saying, you guys are moving on but me and Liberty…well, we’ve been mates for so long and we love debating captains and we’re always having a laugh together. I just don’t know how to move out of the friendship zone and into…you know…the more zone.
Will: Try taking a picture with her and then take the opportunity to kiss her. Works every time, even if they hate you, they’ll do the kiss. Take it from there.
Watcher: And so Travis took a photo with Liberty and kissed her. That lovely photo suffered white-out. The only decent one from that batch was this one. What can I say about this photo? They’re MFEO. A bucket load of romance grew of the back of that, aided by the Flirty Gold Date bucket that Will and Summer had just earned. Travis and Liberty moved from the friendship zone into the engaged&pregnant zone, half a day after Will & Summer (Wimmer? Sumill? Nope!). Liberty became officially Cheerful – why wouldn’t she be!
Will: So tell me again why you’re staying with us?
Dominic: I don’t want to talk about it.
Will: Your wife Moira implied that you all needed a place to stay and then just you turn up.
Dominic: I really don’t want to talk about it.
Will: Thanks for helping with the rocket.
Dominic: I don’t want to talk about it. Oh wait, yes, that’s OK. It feels good to hit something!
Will: Congratulations on your marriage, Mrs Kenna.
Summer: Right back at you, Nerd!
Will: And you don’t mind that we shared our day with Travis and Liberty?
Watcher: Traberty? Libvis? Nope!
Summer: To be honest, it’s a relief that they finally got together. They’ve been mooning over each other since we first moved in together but neither would make the first move!
Will: Did Travis not get the memo about the blue/purple theme?
Watcher: I gave him an amazing outfit that toned with Liberty’s perfectly and he turns up in turquoise? I give up!
Summer: How about some in-tents honeymooning, if you know what I mean?
Will: Oh – erm – I just sent thingy to work and if I shut down now he’ll skip the rest of his workday when I come back to it. I’ll be done in….
Summer: Are you seriously saying you’d rather play with imaginary pixelated people than celebrate our wedding in the traditional manner?
Will: We’ve got the rest of our lives together! And I’ve just become a Geek!
Summer: I don’t believe it! I’m all flirty and fired up and you’re having a Geek-fest! Well, hello Dominic Fyres! My fire’s already lit and you’re looking hot this evening!
Will: I’m so worried about our relationship, Summer. I know everyone said we would have to work harder at our relationship because we’re not naturally compatible but I can’t believe our bar went from fully pink to fully red in the space of a moment!
Summer: It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have flirted with Dominic. I hate him now and can’t wait till he leaves! I’m so sorry.
Will: I should have been more focused on you. Will you forgive me?
Summer: We’ll both pay more attention to each other. We can do this. We’re starting a family.
Will: You’re amazing!
Summer: And we’re back in the pink. Phew!
Will: I’ve tried to find a way to get Dominic to leave early but I can’t. I quite like him but it would be better if he left.
Travis: What do I do?
Will: I’ve only got 6 hours more experience than you, I’m as at sea as you.
Travis: But you read all those books.
Will: Nothing works like they say. I don’t mind. Helen is adorable – named after the first Briton in space – Helen Sharman in 1991.
Travis: A good match for our Tim – named for Tim Peake - first British astronaut to visit the International Space Station (2015). How long are they babies?
Will: Now that, the books do get right. 24 hours from birth.
Watcher: I have stated previously that all Infants I have seen have been “homely” but I am eating my words. I may be biased – as all grandparents(?) are – but our 2 little ones are not “homely”. They are as cute as pie/buttons/ootchi-cootchi-coos. Of course they are! Meet Wiggly Helen and Intense Tim!

Watcher NoteThe official rules are quite specific about not aging up babies early but don’t yet include early age-up requirement for Infants. As the general requirement for Toddlers is max potty plus 2 other skills (3+2*5=13 out of a possible 23 skill levels), I’m planning to make the general early age-up requirement for Infants as that proportion of Infant Milestones (31*13/23) giving 17 Milestones to achieve with at least 2 in each of the major categories (Gross/Fine Motor, Social, Firsts).
The Well-Educated Bloodline has higher expectations of all Founders/Heirs and so, in order to age-up early, and Infant heir will need to achieve all 31 Infant Milestones.
Both this general requirement and the Well-Educated Bloodline requirement is only to age-up early – they
don’t have to achieve it before they reach their normal birthday.
I’m still new to Infants so this rule might get tweaked for logical/practical reasons.
- Title "Incompatible – That’s What We Are" is a reference to the "Unforgettable" track by Nat King Cole which became a personal earworm as I was playing this Sim week. With that rich voice, it was a nice earworm to have.
