Congrats on the marriage and the births!
It's funny that you and I both got Second Chance as the marriage choice. But it's cool that even though it was the same option, we could play it out in very different ways.
Leilani sure is a cutie. I'm sure all Xavier's children will be adorable.
Looking forward to two more little Misturas. Of course, that's easy for me to say, I'm not the one raising them. 😉

About Second Chance, I was wondering if you'd guess what I rolled for Marital Status when Lia got crushed by a vending machine. *winks
Colin leaving his family to pursue fame and fortune was a very feasible separation and Rose's encounter with Santiago was very romantic.
My game threw me different chances which worked with my impatience for Xavier to make more babies, lol!

I'm also looking forward to meeting all the kiddos! Five kids ain't bad.
Chai raised eight infants, nine toddlers, and ten children (he had eight kids plus raised two Minsung brought with him).
We got this! (Luckily, Xavier most of his money-making already so he and Hikaru have plenty of time for the children.)

Five children - that's hard work. Looking forward to meeting them all soon. Congrats on the twins and marriage.

Leilani is very cute with her pointy ears.

I was surprised that Xavier is taking so long to get Spice Hound. I'd always been impressed at your other Sims seemingly getting that and Chopstick Savvy at the drop of a hat. Maybe it's harder to get these days.

Are you enjoying the Gemology? I haven't quite worked out when, during the conception or pregnancy, it's best to wear a charged item to get multiple births - the whole time or just parts of it.

Xavier hadn't made as much of an effort as his predecessors at gaining the Chopstick Savvy and Spice Hound traits.
The others were consuming several plates of either Sweet & Sour Eggplant or one of the spicy dishes everyday.
In contrast, Xavier mostly eats leftovers from his food stand, haha.
It typically takes a sim around 6-8 servings of Sweet & Sour Eggplant (or a spicy dish) to get the Chopstick Savvy (or Spice Hound) trait.
When you notice one of my sims earn either trait rather quickly, it means they've been eating 2-3 servings of the pertinent meal every day for several days.
With Xavier growing up with siblings of all ages, he never tried to get either trait while living at home.

He just hasn't made a focused effort in the case of Spice Hound. I think he's still traumatized by the game trying to push the Glutton trait on him. *winks

Hikaru has already completed the aspiration except for summoning Grimm though he has the Jet gemstone to do so.
It will be interesting to try Gemoloy as the primary income in our next challenge.
Xavier is just so much quicker at preparing food to sell than Hikaru with his crystal creations, even if he chooses Design Random Jewelry.
Also, Hikaru wants to hoard half of what he crafts for his family's use, lol.

I do love who Hikaru's Gemology activities benefit from his Sulani Mana trait.

@Granny Lawlor
I was curious about how Shinolite affects the likelihood of multiple births as well. I found this Reddit thread on the topic.
The thread suggests that the timing is before labor, rather than before conception.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims4/comments/1bhlw8p/shinolite_kinda_pointless/

P.S. Hikaru is currently pregnant and I peeked at the # and gender of the babies using MCCC.
Putting on a charged Shinolite ring in his first trimester changed nothing.
I could try keeping the ring charged and put it on again before he goes into labor, but do I really need an additional child?

This is consistent with the experiments I ran with the fertility massage a couple years back - I did the fertility massage and had her get pregnant while she had the moodlet - 1 baby.
When the moodlet expired, I did another fertility massage in the middle of the pregnancy - 2 babies as long as she had the moodlet; when the moodlet dropped off, she went back to 1 baby.
The moodlet lasts 12 hours, so with about 9 hours to go, did another fertility massage - 2 babies, and twins were born.
So, I concluded that the moodlet just has to be in place at the time of birth, and it makes sense that the devs would re-use that functionality and have the gem work the same way.
Experimenting with changing the gender was new for me with Nylah, and it worked perfectly for me, but I'm not sure how reliable it would be and how much was chance.

11.82: Baby Boom!

Sunday, Week 82 (early winter)
Xavier: Last week, Hikaru proposed Tuesday night. How could I refuse?
Friday, Leilani aged up into a child who Loves the Outdoors.
Saturday, Hikaru gave birth to twin boys, Tristan and Stefan, then we tried for baby again right away.
It was a great week for self-discovery, too! I gained the Foodie and Bookworm traits.
Hikaru was hoping to become Family Oriented but he became a Perfectionist instead.
We love it here in Bedrock Strait! The scenery's so-so, but the weather's fantastic!
From L to R: Hikaru holding Tristan, Leilani, and me holding Stefan

Hikaru: Have you seen where I work?
It's merely two walls and a roof attached to the main house.
It  may be small, but it has everything I need!
Also, we completed the Crystal collection, solely from harvesting our four Crystal Trees.

Newborns don't have an "Introduce to" social like infants do.
For some reason, our twins are already acquainted with their Grandpa Chai.
Is that because he's related by blood to the Mistura lineage?
But they don't know their Grandpa Denzel, so I show off each boy to him.

Xavier: With the exception of schoolwork, Leilani's been focused on scout badges.
This evening, she earns her last badge and becomes a Llamacorn scout.
Go Leilani!

Xavier: The twins age up into infants, both spellcasters with pointy ears.
Sunny Tristan dresses in black and has blond hair but not my exact shade of strawberry blond.
Cautious Stefan dresses in white. Stefan's brown hair is lighter than Xavier's.
Watcher's note: Xavier and Hikaru have cc hair so their hair colors weren't passed down.
Tristan aged up with black hair because Hikaru's hair is assigned the black shade, so I've improvised.

Monday
Xavier: Leilani leaves this morning for her first day of grade school.
Hikaru and I are free to spend all day with our twin boys.
Papa Denzel spends his days eating, cleaning, or chatting. He's ready to help the kids whenever he's needed.
Watcher's mad at Papa Chai who is constantly out jogging, which is why they're now locked inside our lot.

Tristan really loves his Grandpa Denzel and the feeling appears mutual.
Behind them, Leilani is nearly done with her Artistic Prodigy aspiration.

Leilani: I don't know what the big deal is about Family Oriented sims!
In our family, the best caregivers are NOT Family Oriented.
Like, Grandpa Denzel always looks after me, but Grandpa Chai prefers to go jogging.
Great-Grandpa Surya just wants to eat and play chess.
I asked all my caregivers for help learning to ride a bicycle but only Great-Grandpa Decha comes to help.
In fact, GG Decha spent all night with me, from the time I asked him for help until I learned to read a bike. He's the best!

Tuesday
Hikaru: Last night, I visited my ob-gyn for an ultrasound scan.
My sonogram showed twins, which my ob-gyn said would most probably be girls.

Hikaru: I'm so in love with Xavier! Look how handsome he is, carrying Stefan to his crib.
Even though he's Family Oriented, Xavier was having trouble doing Tummy Time with Stefan earlier.
He picked Stefan up and put him on the ground six times before finally doing Tummy Time.
We have playmats in front of the fireplace, so why does Xavier do Tummy Time over there in the dirt?

Xavier After Leilani returns from school with an A, we head for Sulani's Flower & Music gathering.
It's Tristan and Stefan's very first outing.
It's an odd gathering. The flowers refer to the leis the locals are wearing, I guess.
The music refers to the single guitar at the venue.  Not the most happening event, but whatever.

By the way, while preparing lunch today, I discovered I'm a Foodie like Xavier.

Wednesday
Xavier: Leilani has already completed scouts and four aspirations.
She's also currently in range to get the Responsible, Emotional Control and Compassionate character traits.
Her teen birthday's not for another nine days, so maybe she wants to become a Social Butterfly.

Chai: You're being ridiculous, Denzel!
Denzel (with camera): Sshhh! I'm trying to focus and get the perfect photo!
Xavier: What's the big deal, anyway?
Hikaru (with camera): It's happening, Xavier! Tristan learned to Blow a Raspberry!

Xavier: What's there to think about, love? Let's go for it!
Hikaru: That's easy for you to say! My body will never be the same! And childcare will be so chaotic!
Xavier: Oh, c'mon, Hikaru! We're the last generation and one of our kids will be founder Watcher's next challenge.
Let's showcase the excellence of our combined genetics.  And did I mention I have Level 10 Wellness?
Hikaru: Well, okay. But you owe me some serious pampering later!

Hikaru: Yes, triplets! We'll introduce them to you tomorrow when they age up to infants.
The remaining weeks of this legacy will be…not relaxing. *sighs

Thursday
Xavier: All I've been doing today is looking after the triplets who take turns needing to be fed or changed.
My fathers polished off two eight-serving dishes by themselves in the past 12 hours.
When Tristan and Stefan age up, they'll need their own Baker's Cousin Display Case that their grandpas can't access.
But Hikaru doesn't mind cooking for them. They've been so helpful with our children!
How disappointing that Leilani's been angry for hours over her "Unwanted Siblings."
Not a realistic attitude, Leilani!

Hikaru: Meet our triplets!
Among my five children, Wiggly Naomi's the only one without pointy ears.
Like Tristan, Calm Renato shares my hair color. Tristan and Renato could be identical twins, don't you think?
Sunny Hotaru's name means firefly in Japanese.

As infants, Tristan and Renato take after me, whereas Stefan, Naomi, and Hotaru resemble Xavier.

Friday
Hikaru: I was really hoping to discover that I' Family Oriented but it hasn't happened.
Isn't giving birth and being the primary caregiver to twins and triplets enough?
Today has been extremely hectic with five infants to look after. Yes, you heard right: Five!
Tristan and Stefan will age up to toddlers this evening.
On days like this, Papa Chai and Papa Denzel are truly indispensable!

Leilani: O for the glory days when I was an only child with four caregivers!
These days I am mostly left on my own to learn skills.
Honestly, I'm just killing time until my teen birthday next Friday.
I wonder how many grownup skills I can max between now and then…

Xavier: Papas Chai and Denzel terrify us with their tales about the "Where's My Attention?" moodlet.
During four days of our triplets' infancy, Tristan and Stefan will be toddlers.
Hikaru and I hope to avoid the Attention issue by keeping the toddlers away from the infants.

On the left, you can see the side yard we've created for the toddlers. It's linked to their bedroom.
On the right, you can see the infants' playmats in front of the fireplace.
I've even built a wall to block the toddlers' view of Hikaru and I with the infants.
Ugh!

Hikaru: When it's time to age up Tristan and Stefan, Xavier's busy preparing Renato for sleep.
I help Tristan blow out his birthday candles, then Stefan is helped by his Grandpa Denzel.
Tristan is Independent and Stefan is Angelic.
They both age up with the Top-Notch Infant trait and Level 2 Thinking.

Converting Tristan and Stefan's cribs into toddler beds

Saturday
Hikaru: With the toddlers sleeping, we switch our attention to the triplets.
Renato has the sweetest smile, doesn't he?
Xavier is doing Tummy Time with adorable Naomi.

Xavier: As soon as I put food out for the toddlers, Papa Chai makes a beeline to their yard.
It's pretty ridiculous because he has the Fresh Chef trait but Hikaru and I don't.
Using my Research & Debate skill, I occasionally convince Papa Chai to cook.
But all he ever prepares is cake. It's a losing battle.
Who am I kidding? Hikaru and I could never raise five babies so close in age without my parents.

Xavier: The separated toddler play area seems to be working!
While Hikaru reads to Tristan and Stefan, I'm playing with Hotaru beyond that wall behind Hikaru.
So far, the toddlers don't feel ignored because they can't see us interacting with the infants
Let's hope this continues!

Progress: End of Week 82
Residence: Slipshod Mesquite, Bedrock Strait (Oasis Springs)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Notes
*Hikaru & Denzel with their cameras: I suddenly noticed that they were autonomously pointing cameras.
When I checked Hikaru's queue, he had the "Watch Milestone" action.
I'd never seen this before. It's so cute how excited Papa Hikaru and Grandpa Denzel got!
In contrast, the two Family Oriented caregivers (Xavier and Chai) didn't give a hoot, lol.

*Xavier's requirements: He only has two left - the Super Parent aspiration and Home Library.
The Gen12 kids have lots of time to read their 10 books each since they aren't allowed to age up early.
The Super Parent aspiration only awaits Leilani's young adult birthday.

*Earning income: Neither Xavier nor Hikaru have run any yard sales this week.
With over 1,400,000 simoleons in household funds, they can afford to focus exclusively on their children.
In fact, they won't be running any yard sales during the remaining weeks of this legacy challenge.

The kids are all so adorable!
Your separated play area with the view-blocking wall is genius. I hope it continues to work.
3 infants and 2 toddlers at once! I'm impressed. I won't be trying it, but I'll sing accolades to you!

The toddlers (Tristan and Stefan) maxed Imagination and Potty within 8 hours of aging up.
Those little skilling demons will be fine on their own. Their parents just need to keep their display case stocked and check their needs regularly.
Two active caregivers and three infants--not a good ratio but Chai and Denzel can help with diaper changing, feeding, baths, and moving the infants from and to their cribs.
I just need to hang on for the remaining three days of the triplets' infancy. :D
And yes, all the kids are super cute.  All the micro-managing is a bit exhausting but it will be great when they've all aged up to teens!

Everyone dropping their queues to go see infant milestones can be a bit annoying sometimes but I mostly find it cute. They usually just clap but I've noticed the camera thing a few times now. What would be really cool would be if the game saved those autonomous snaps. It would be fun to see what they got.

So - that's Xaviers 5+ kids and everyone is doing a great job of parenting. I am enjoying this gen  :)

I'd never had a toddler start out with L2 Thinking but both Tristan and Stefan achieved that.
Their needs decayed very slowly, possibly because there was a Plumbite gemstone sitting on a charging ring outdoors on the same side of the house as their bedroom.
I didn't place the charging ring there on purpose. The descriptions all say the charged crystal must be in the samr oom.
The triplet infants are a challenge but they age up in three days.  They're all so cute. I'm loving it!

11.83: Toddler Spam Musubi

Sunday, Week 83 (mid-winter)
Xavier: Last week,  Hikaru and I devoted every free moment to raising our babies.
Our twins Tristan and Stefan aged up to infants on Sunday, becoming toddlers on Friday.
Wednesday, Hikaru gave birth to triplets--Naomi, Renato, and Hotaru--who became infants on Thursday.
We built a separate play area for the twins so they wouldn't feel ignored when we cared for the infants.

From L to R: Tristan, Hikaru holding Naomi, Hotaru, me holding Tristan, Leilani, and Stefan

Denzel: How rare for all of us to sit down for breakfast together.
Hikaru: By happy coincidence, all five babies are asleep this morning.
Xavier: The twins are skilling champs! They're both only  a 1/2 level of Movement from maxing all their skills.
Hikaru: After the triplets age up to toddlers, caring for them will be much easier.

Xavier: Leilani is an Outdoor Lover. Once she's a teen, she can take over the gardening.
That would really help out!
Hikaru: I finally get around to recycling all our extra stuff in our personal and household inventories.
Like the extra Simmis, six bassinets, and other things we no longer need but aren't allowed to sell.

Tristan and Stefan are done with their skilling before 11 am.
They'll need to stay "in quarantine," however, until the triplets' birthday on Tuesday.
It's fine. They've got everything they need.
I'm hoping they'll making some progress toward their "Read 10 Books" task as toddlers.

Monday
Leilani: But Watcher, this is my 10th book! I'd wanted to read it somewhere special!
Watcher: You're getting on my nerves, Leilani. The toddlers have two armchairs in their play area.
There are 17 other seats on this lot, including dining chairs, bar stools, and sofas.

Leilani: I know Tristan and Stefan were my "Unwanted Siblings," but their area is where the action is.
Watcher: Listen, I sent you out of that room SIX times and you went right back there every time.
You were an only child for weeks. Stop trying to hog to disrupt the twins.

Hikaru: Among the triplets, Renato has the most milestones, but Naomi is only one First milestone behind.
With five Fine Motor milestones each, they should be aging up to toddlers this evening with L2 Thinking.

Xavier: Hotaru, you only need one more Fine Motor milestone to catch up!
Once you wake up from your nap, we'll work on that together, okay?

Tuesday
Hikaru: I happen to spot Tristan (in black) autonomously hugging Stefan (in white).
Honestly, those two are just the cutest!
By the way, I checked their relationships and they are both friends with their other four siblings.
Thankfully, they never felt ignored or lacking attention from Xavier and me.

Naomi (left) has learned to sit up.
Hotaru (right) loves being held, especially by her Grandpa Chai.

Xavier: When it's time to age up the triplets, Papa Denzel helps Naomi blow out her birthday candles.
All three earn the Top-Notch Infant trait, but only Naomi and Renato start out with Level 2 Thinking.
Hikaru: I played with Hotaru until the very last minute, but she never learned a fifth Fine Motor skill.

Naomi is Inquisitive, Renato is a Charmer, and Hotaru is Angelic.

Wednesday
Today's the Winterfest holiday so we've dressed up our five toddlers as Holiday Helpers.
Tristan and Stefan age up to children in two days, so we have five toddlers in the house until then.
Friday is also Leilani's birthday.

Xavier: This evening, I'm planning to take the whole family to Sulani's Town Potluck which starts at 6 pm.
Suddenly saying it's 6:30 pm, Watcher bundles us off to Sulani where we find the venue deserted.
We check the time and it's only 1:30 pm. Um, Watcher? Is 6:30 pm your time?:
Watcher: Oops! I must've looked at the wrong clock.
Good thing we came armed with portable potties and tents. We spend a fun afternoon at the beach.
And I finally get to use my portable grill to cook for the family.

I irresponsibly plan to persuade Papa Denzel to expand his family then wear a Shinolite ring to boost his fertility.
He agrees it's a good idea, but I need to wait and see which of my parents gets pregnant.
Also, the ring only has a two-day charge so I need to wait until their third trimester.
Hmmmm, this isn't as easy as I'd expected.

The uphill slope to the Town Plaza takes some time for our triplet toddlers, but we all eventually arrive.
I place my 8-serving bowl of Three Sisters Chili among the other potluck offerings.
All of us  grab a bite to eat, then head home as soon as the toddlers get drowsy.
Thanks to Watcher looking at the wrong clock, we enjoyed a delightful day at the beach!

Thursday
I hope you don't mind that this week consists mostly of baby spam.
But can you blame us? Seeing all the toddlers is too adorable!
Apparently, Tristan (left) is a cuddler.
Renato's pulled ahead of his sisters and only has one skill left to max: Movement.

Hotaru (purple) and Naomi (blue) asking why.
Though Hotaru didn't age up with L2 Thinking, she caught up to Naomi very quickly.
In fact, she'll probably max all her skills before Naomi does.

Xavier: Good evening, Prince. Long time no see!
Prince: Hey, you finally made it for a visit. Make yourself at home.
(to himself): A new partner and five more children? No wonder he hasn't had time to visit until now!
Xavier: Thanks! If you don't mind, we'd like to watch the TV Season Premiere.
Prince: Be my guest. The toddlers ignore that holiday, but we got slides!

Xavier: There are only two slides, so Naomi and Hotaru head for those.
Tristan asks Prince to Roughhouse Play, maxing his last skill.
We discover Leilani autonomously completed Playtime Captain's "Make friends with 3 children" task.
So we head home so she can complete that aspiration.

Friday
Hikaru: Renato was the first to max his toddler skills yesterday, followed by Hotaru (purple) several hours later.
For some unknown reason, Naomi (blue) was the slowest at skilling, but the first to read five toddler books.

I'm sorry, gentle readers, but this is just too cute.
Renato is reading the toddler book "Princess Plumbob's Castle."

Xavier: We age up Leilani, Tristan, and Stefan as soon as we receive their birthday notices.
Outdoor-loving Leilani gains the Jealous and High Self-Esteem traits as a teen.
Good Tristan and Bookworm Stefan both age up with the Top-Notch Toddler and Neutral Confidence traits.
Do all children start out with Neutral Confidence?

Saturday
Xavier: We'd originally planned for Tristan and Stefan to make a quick stop at Desert Bloom Park.
They'd only wanted to Play on a Jungle Gym while Playful, but look how much the littles love the splash pads!
We stay at the park until just before the twins' scout meeting then head home for a bit.

Tristan (black): After our scout meeting, we go to Sulani and earn our Outdoor Adventurer badge.
We want to earn all our badges ASAP, so we don't join today's Fishing Tournament. Maybe next week?
Stefan (white): Then, we read one book each to finish off our Scholarly Aptitude badge.
Papa Xavier grills something tasty and we all chow down before heading home.

Progress: End of Week 83

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Notes
*Infant Milestones: Does an only child learn more milestones than a twin or triplet? Let's compare:
  Leilani (15): Fine Motor/3, Gross Motor/3, Social/4, Firsts/5 -- Toddler boost/none
  Tristan (21): Fine Motor/5, Gross Motor/5, Social/5, Firsts/6  -- Toddler boost/L2 Thinking
   Stefan (19):  Fine Motor/5, Gross Motor/5, Social/4, Firsts/5 -- Toddler boost/L2 Thinking
   Naomi (17): Fine Motor/5, Gross Motor/5, Social/4, Firsts/3 -- Toddler Boost/L2 Thinking
   Renato (18): Fine Motor/5, Gross Motor/5, Social/4, Firsts/4 -- Toddler Boost/L2 Thinking
   Hotaru (14): Fine Motor/4, Gross Motor/1, Social/4, Firsts/5 -- Toddler Boost/none

*]u]Infant childcare[/u]: All six kids earned the Top-Notch Infant trait. Yay!
Due to Lia's full-time job, Leilani didn't get more attention from her parents than Tristan and Stefan did.
By the time of the triplet infants, my focus as Watcher had flagged noticeably.
My only aim for the triplets was to earn five Fine Motor milestones for L2 Thinking.
With two active caregivers and three infants, Hotaru hardly got any Tummy Time but it doesn't matter.
After earning 1-2 Fine Motor milestones, an infant can "Play with Toys" on the playmat.
Darn it, we had Hotaru play until the last minute but she aged up with only 4 Fine Motor milestones. Oh well.

*"Read 10 Books" task: Leilani read 5 toddler books as a toddler, then 5 children's book as a child.
Similarly, Tristan and Stefan read 5 toddler books each during their toddler stage.
As you know, the first book a toddler reads gives them the "Read First Book" milestone.
When a toddler finishes a book, I wish the book would be marked as "Reread" like other book genres.

*Leilani is annoying: I've locked her out of both toddler bedrooms.
Even when the toddlers are asleep, she "needs" to do her homework there, causing the Auto Lights to go on.
She has a room all to herself which she never enters. Do your homework in your own room, girl!

That first image really brings it home just how many little ones you were juggling at once!
I'm so glad Watcher looked at the wrong clock - that picture of the toddlers playing in the water is so adorable. I've had my toddlers in the water, but not sitting and playing, and especially not five at once!
Hats off to on the library requirement - it would drive me nuts managing the reading of all those books for so many Sims.
Sounds like Leilani is thinking "Where's my attention!?" - The way she wants to be in the toddler room.

Wow - 5 toddlers for 2 days! Are you enjoying the no-early-age-ups rule or are you longing to be released from it? I must say, you've spent the time productively, doing all the skilling/etc research

Such cute shots in their costumes and playing in the water although them standing by the fire made my nervous.

Leilani mdy be annoying but she is very attractive. I also like Tristans two-tone hair.

Haha, yes, I was looking at the time displayed on my monitor.
The toddlers sitting in the water was a new-to-me action called "Play in Water." I was surprised when their floaties and toys magically appeared.
Xavier and Hikaru seemed to be watching over them at first, but I sent Xavier at one point to go grill something but the toddlers kept playing.

I also loved how much fun the triplets seemed to be having on the splash pads.
Usually, I only place one on active homelot for the Water Fun holiday tradition or Playtime Captain aspiration.
It seems like a great way for toddlers to regain Fun.

Leilani ruined many a toddler-spam screenshot!
I'd direct toddlers to get seated for a screenshot but, while they waddle over, Leilani would come take one of the seats intended for a toddler.
I also noticed she got into a flirty mood with her stepdad Hikaru--yep, she's in the doghouse.

Haha, NO! I'm not really enjoying the No Early Age-Up rule that much. The Gen12 toddlers have all maxed their 5 skills within 2 days or so, after which I monitor their needs for the next five days.
I guess the extra days were benerficial for the Home Library generational goal, since reading 5 toddlers books is much quicker than reading 5 children's books.
I confess, the swarm of five toddlers was super adorable and I enjoyed thinking up activities/screenshots that would showcase how cute they were.

I agree with you that Leilani is a very pretty sim. Tristan's two-tone hair is from the Crystal Creations pack.

Thank you for letting me know. I think I had two many browser tabs open and have no idea where all the inserted lines came from,.
And here I thought you were going to say how adorable my five toddlers were in their Holiday Helper costumes! :D
