Mistura Mishmash Legacy: 11.86: Not All Super Parents Wear Capes (26 Apr '24)

Awesome renovation work! You've really set Chai up for success as a landlord.
It's very responsible) of Chai to focus on his rental properties first before romance, but I am very interested to see where he goes regarding romance - will Prom Date Milli be around for the long haul, or will one of his crushes get the better of him and become more permanent? Or perhaps his future is with someone we haven't yet met? ♥♥♥

Thank you!  It was very educational to rework an existing residential rental, though I chose not to go with 11C's original lot traits of Spooky and Mold.
And I now have a better idea of how NOT to approach a major renovation.

For Chai (and Sara), crafting for the two rental properties has been all-consuming!
Completing all the crafting will also free his sister to go their own ways.
Crafting seems to come easier to Chai than sorting out his romantic life.  His mind leans one way yet his heart appears to lean in another diretion.
His YA birthday isn't for another 8-9 days, so he still has a little time to decide. *coughs

Wednesday, Week 9  (mid- autumn)
Chai: Here we are standing in front of the bridge north of my home at Tam Nang Sands.
The Bun Ma household lives just beyond the bridge but I never see Milli out and about.

Two extremely important things happened earlier this week.
On Tuesday, our house guest Cirta Choo completed her Fount of Tomarani Knowledge aspiration!
On Wednesday, Watcher, Sara, and I finished renovating, crafting for, and furnishing Sungai Point.
After filling its three units, my daily rent income soared from §245 to §2,470.

Sara has been a tremendous help with crafting furnishings for the two rental properties!!!
Together, we crafted 34 items for Sungai Point and will need to craft 87 items total for the Isda Riverfront rentals.
 Of the total 121 items we're crafting, 19 will be created by fabrication.
That's only just under 16% but acquiring the bits and pieces for fabrication has been quite a pain.
Sara focuses only on woodworking, while I'm in charge of both fabrication and woodworking.  Teamwork!


Ratih: I feel like I've overstayed my welcome here!
Because of my Cringe trait, I'm usually feeling Playful so a good 90% of my paintings are worth under §2,000 each.
Chai told me this morning that I don't need to paint anymore.
Should I feel pleased or offended?


Chai: Despite the low value of Ratih's paintings, Cirta heroically sells every last one.
That means tonight is her last yard sale.
She can take it easy now, if she so desires.



Thursday
Cirta: I know you and Sara have a long crafting list and I'd like to help out.
Chai: Really? We still have dozens of items to craft, so if you could help with 8 of them that would be great.
Maybe you could start with a Handiness Skill class?
Cirta: I'm way ahead of you, boi! I read a skill book last night and I'm already at L3 Handiness!
Ratih: Please don't ask me to help with crafting! I have no interest at all in woodworking!
So, I'll continue to be in charge of gardening and cooking, if that works for everyone.


Chai: Great job, Cirta! Let me mentor you while you craft that toddler potty!
Cirta: Thanks! Now that I have L4 Handiness, I can craft End Tables and Nightstands, too.
You and Sara will need to craft the higher-level items yourselves.
Chai: You'll be taking 8 items off our list! We can't thank you enough!


Chai: Watcher phones to say that she's done building the Isda Riverfront residential rental.
It's only furnished with things we can't craft like, for example, kitchen appliances and cabinets.
I purchase the lot for §133,915, then invite the others to come with me to check it out.
The 30x20 Sungai Point is a three-story building with three rental units.
In contrast, the 20x20 Isda Riverfront has only two rental units but more shared space.
Sara and I place the items we've crafted so far, while checking that our listed quantities are accurate.


We'll share the floorplans after we're done furnishing the place.
Sadly, the outdoor area (including the pool) couldn't be designated as shared space.
Around 90% of the building's first floor is shared space.
Due to the building's raised foundation, we couldn't convert the outdoor area into a "room."


Suddenly I'm notified of a Water Leak emergency at 11B Sungai Point.
That's the unit occupied by my new tenant Minsung Lee and his family.
After rushing there and meeting Minsung, I repair the kitchen sink and bath, while Sara fixes a shower.
Cirta arrives too and helps out by mopping. What would I do without them?


Resolving the Water Leak emergency completes my second milestone as a landlord.
For the 3rd milestone, I already have three occupied units with a 5-star rating.
All that's left is to become good friends with a tenant.
I can do better than that!  I socialize with Minsung a little more then ask him to be my BFF.


After completing my Five-Star Property Owner aspiration, I ask Minsung about his interests.
You know, just for funsies.  Wait, what?! Minsung's only romantically interested in men?
OMG, Minsung, you're absolutely killing me!  I'd recently decided to ask Milli to be my girlfriend at Prom.
Also, Minsung is a single parent with a toddler and a child in grade school.
While I feel bad for his kids, do I want to shoulder so much responsibility?  Stop looking at me like that, Minsung!



Friday
Cirta: After all my bravado, I didn't last long at the woodworking table!
After the toddler potty, I crafted 4-5 more things then fell into a Creative Fog!
How do you, Chai, and Sara keep so productive without burning out!?
Ratih:  Maybe it depends on whether we like what we're doing?

Cirta: I don't mean to pry but, if you don't help with the rentals, why do you live here?
Can't you and your boyfriend age up early, get married, then move in with your parents?
Ratih: That's my plan but I'm staying here to garden and cook until Chai and Sara are done crafting.
Cirta: Oh, the crafting…. *feels guilty


Chai: Thanks for always cooking for us, Ratih.  This Pancit Bihon is superb! Glass noodles are my favorite!!!
Ratih: About that, as you know, I'm moving out once all the crafting is done. How's your progress?
Sara: As of right now, we only have 15 more items to craft.
Chai: From now, we'll craft two more items each then go place what we have at Isda Riverfront.
Ratih: So when do you think you'll be done crafting?
Chai: I'm hoping we'll finish before Prom tomorrow evening. Cross your fingers for us, Ratih!


Chai: With only 11 Rectangular Sconces left to craft, we head for Isda Riverfront to place our other furnishings.
Here's an overall look at the first floor.
The shared space is divided in half by two staircases leading to Unit 10 (blue) and Unit 20 (Orange).
The open lounge offers a game table, two rockers, and a woodworking table.
The TV room even comes with a popcorn maker.
The adjoining Utility Room (with a water heater, fuse box, and two trash bins) also has front-porch access.


Here's the second floor. You've probably noticed that its layout resembles that of Sungai Point's Units 11A and 11B.
The biggest difference is that we don't waste space here with vanity corridors.
The rugs, armchairs, and bookcases were fabricated; nearly Teverything else was woodworked.
The shared space on the left consists of a mini-gym, two toilet/shower rooms, and an art studio.
In the studio, tenants can paint, use the activity table or friendship bracelet kit, or play musical instruments.


The master bedroom, children's room with bunkbeds, and nursery are on the third floor.
Do you think the colors of the double bed and rug (both fabricated) are too matchy-matchy?
There's a changing station for infants in the hallway.  Tenants can convert the nursery into a third bedroom, if they wish.

At this point, I check the Unit Rating  and discover the Environment is only "Decent"! What!?
I quickly go through both units, adding towels, toilet paper, houseplants, and other knick-knacks with an Environment score.
When both units have a Fancy Environment, I stop decorating and decide to buy the remaining sconces we'd planned to craft.
Isda Riverfront is now move-in ready!  It's time to celebrate the end of our crafting rampage!


Ratih: We're about to head for The Screaming Gecko lounge when Minsung phones Chai about an Electrical Failure.
After that's handled (what took so long!?), we travel to the lounge with our parents and my sweetheart Myles Ota.

Myles: I can't bear to live apart from you a moment longer! Ratih, will you marry me?
Ratih: Um, this isn't the most romantic place, but okay. Let's leave for my place.
After I pack, we can age up together then move in with my parents tonight!


Chai: Papa Decha surprises me by showing up in a tux.
Then I remember what Papa Surya told me: Papa D used to play the piano here regularly before they got married.
But why did Papa Surya arrive here in a tux, too?



Saturday
Chai: What's the matter, Sara?
Sara: You remember Corbin Adams, your friend who invited me to Prom last week?
Well, I checked his profile this morning and he's already a young adult and--get this--he's married!!!
I was going to ask you to save 20 Isda Riverfront for me, so Corbin and I could live there after we married.  But now…

Chai: Hey, there are better guys out there for you, sis. And don't you worry about living at Isda Riverfront.
Didn't you realize that Unit 20 is furnished in shades of orange with you in mind? Unit 20 has your name on it!
Let me go rent out Unit 10 then I'll consult our fathers.


Max rent for each unit is §632 and my highest offer is §605 from a household of four young adults.
Instead, I choose to rent to Tri and Dalisay Bui, who offer only §503.
I met the couple separately at the Night Market while I was still living in Morensong.
My goal is to fill my rentals with tenants who are Tomarani locals, not with expats.
Here, Tri and I are trading marbles, but I don't get the one marble my collection is missing.


Chai: I consult Papa Surya and he insists that Sara and I travel with him to the Magic Realm.
He's acting very mysterious about the whole thing. What's his master plan?
He says I should first talk up Sara to Sage Morgyn then try to hook them up.
Sage Morgyn seems quite interested in Sara, despite their age difference.


Chai: To my surprise, Sage Morgyn immediately walks past me to offer Sara a rose.
So, Papa Surya, why did you think Sara and Sage Morgyn would make a good match?
Surya (mumbles): Morgyn might have helped me complete my Self-Care Specialist aspiration.
Chai: What!?!
Surya: In exchange, he jokingly asked for my firstborn, but I wanted you to be free!
Chai: Uh, thanks?


Chai: I visit the other Sages to learn my remaining spells and potion recipes.
Saving Sage Morgyn for last, I learn that my sister ain't no slacker, either.
She even makes me wait while she asks Sage Morgyn to be her boyfriend!

Surya (to Chai): What a relief that Sara genuinely adores Sage Morgyn!
Please don't ever tell her, Chai, that Sage Morgyn and I made a deal.
Chai: Looks like Sara never needs to hear about it. She's fallen hard for Sage Morgyn.


Returning home, we discover that we can't travel to Prom. I guess Copperdale High never hired a new Principal.
Sara invites Sage Morgyn over and I invite Milli out to dinner at the Sulani Beach Restaurant.
Milli and I have good compatibility, she's a Music Lover and Foodie, and she's quite attractive.
So why don't I ask her to be my girlfriend?
What? You ask what's going on with Minsung and me? What can I say?
He phones me daily about some emergency or another at his unit.

Er, we might've gotten carried away after the recent Electrical Failure.
As for Boribun, it turns out he's married, that scoundrel! He had the nerve to show up at my place two nights ago!


Milli: Thanks so much for inviting me for dinner, Chai.  I've missed you!
Chai: I'm really glad you're not bitter about us not going to Prom.
Milli: Well, if Prom isn't happening, we can't very well go, can we?
Chai: Hey, do you wanna trade marbles? (Seriously, if she has my missing marble, I'll marry her!)
Milli: Really, Chai? You want to end our romantic date by trading marbles?  Well, okay, here you go.
Chai (to himself0: Nope, she gave me a marble I already have. 
Hey, should I marry whoever trades me the marble I'm missing in my collection?


Chai: Frankly, I'm so confused in the romance department.
I have Good Compatibility with both Milli and Minsung, but Minsung and I have better chemistry.
Or maybe it only seems that way because Minsung is older than me?
My YA birthday isn't for another six days, so I don't need to decide until then, right? Right?!

*Five-Star Property Owner: I honestly hadn't expected to complete the aspiration so quickly!
  Playing Surya first as a tenant gave me a better idea of what to expect from a landlord's perspective.

*Minsung Lee: I used MCCC to check Minsung Lee's age on Thursday and he was a Day 1 Young Adult.
  His household didn't exist in the Mistura simverse prior to Chai seeking tenants for Sungai Point's Unit 11B.
  Oh, a Reddit thread tells me that the Lee household regularly shows up in the For Rent world, but only as tenants.
  Minsung comes preset as romantically interested only in male sims.

*Eco Footprint: MY game is behaving oddly. I've disabled Eco Footprint Gameplay in Pack Settings.

Haha, Poor Chai had finally decided on Milli though he hadn't crushed on her when Minsung came along.
Then, Chai's Watcher made things worse by not being able to decide whether or not to intervene in Chai's shenanigans.
You will be glad to know, however, that Chai now sees light at the end of his tunnel of love!
As for Sara, since she was born and raised in Tomarang like her siblings, I thought she should continue living there, too!
If only Tomarang had come with more lots!!!

With tremendous help from LittleMissSam's More Woodworks mod, I had a blast figuring out how to furnish the rentals by woodworking and fabrication.
I like that LMS's mod offers different swatches for the craftables.
Also, Chai was extremely lucky and never a single accident with the Fabrication Machine!

When Sara met Corbin Adams who asked her to Prom, I thought, "Oh, that's the end of Surya and Morgyn's deal.  Maybe on of Chai's kids?"
But then Corbin aged up earlier and got married, so that worked out perfectly.
Chai's Hook Up With... interaction was really effective, causing Morgyn to immediately go and Offer a Rose to Sara.  I'd never seen it work quite so quickly, LOL!

As for who Chai will choose, his Watcher believes it's ultimately all about genetics. *winks

Sunday, Week 69  (late autumn)
Last week, Watcher renovated  the 3-unit Sungai Point then built the two-unit Isda Riverfront from scratch.
Sara and I furnished all five units and their shared spaces.  By Saturday, I'd rented out four of the five units.
Once Isda Riverfront was move-in ready, our sister Ratih aged up with her boyfriend Myles, married, and moved out.
Sara learned that her beau Corbin aged up to a YA and married someone else, but she bounced back with Sage Morgyn.
.
Romantically, I wavered between my teen neighbor Milli Bun Ma and my stay-at-home-dad tenant Minsung Lee.
Watcher, who isn't crazy about either option, decided to make a romantic intervention.
And that's why we're starting the week back in Morensong.

Watcher: There are three teens in Morensong who I haven't seen since grade school.
The first one is Carina Haryo, daughter of your parents' landlords.  She's a Creative Child of the Village.
Chai: She's very pretty like her mother Shanti and we have amazing compatibility. Carina has potential!
I'll ask her to trade marbles. If she gives me my last missing marble, I'll choose her!
Nope, she gives me one I already have.  But I'll keep her in mind.  Who's next, Watcher?


Watcher: Remember Papa Surya's friend Xuan Tan? Her twin daughters recently aged up to teens.
Chai: As soon as I enter the Tans' Taka Sol unit, I crush hard on Charlotte and have no interest in her twin Diane.
For me, this is a huge milestone--my very first crush on a girl!
Let's see (counting fingers), my first crush was on the Practical Magic Sage PawPaw Garcia, next was Boribun.
Then I freakishly crushed on Ratih's boyfriend while trying to learn his 2nd trait for Ratih's sake.


Charlotte is a Generous Green Fiend and we have amazing compatibility.
Thanks to Charlotte, I learn that the marbles collection consists of 15 marbles not 14.
How? She gives me a unique marble that appears in the 3rd row: Princess Cordelia's Lost Marble!

So, yeah, my instant crush combined with the unique marble--worth §2,000!--pretty much clinches it.
I'm off to ask Milli and Minsung to be just friends.


Charlotte: Where'd you run off to so suddenly, my new BFF?
Chai: Oh, uh, I had to tie up some loose end before you and I get to know each other better…
(Why'd I have to crush on Minsung just as I was about to Ask to Just Be Friends? Sheesh!)
Charlotte: Hey, do you need a roommate? I'm living in this one-room studio with my parents, twin sister, and little brother?

Chai: Yeah, I got extra rooms. You could work on that C grade of yours and spread your wings!
Charlotte: Really? You're, like, the handsomest sim I've ever met! But will other sims think we're moving too fast?
Chai: Who cares?
Charlotte: You're right! Wait while I grab my things! (He didn't say anything about romance, but we're fine, right?)



Monday
Chai: If you haven't already noticed, our Watcher's rather obsessive.
Since I've been planning to marry a Tomarani local anyway, she's replaced that requirement with a new one.
Now I need to complete either the Marbles or Tassels collection.

Last night, I was checking all the sand piles (all 4!) and completely missed the notification about a Haunting at Isda Riverfront.
This morning, I learn that Unit 10's rating dropped because I ignored the Haunting emergency.


Cirta buys the Pink and Light Green Tassels at the Night Market and finds the Blue Tassel behind our house.
Today, I find one sand pile in the sand behind our house (Tuk Tuk toy) and another behind Isda Riverfront (Purple Tassel).
I also find two sand piles near the Beard Beard Cave (Green Tassel and nothing).
How sad if I find all the Tassels but never find my last Marble!



Tuesday
A little past midnight (12:39 am, to be exact), I'm notified of a Tenant Revolt at Sungai Point.
By 1 am, the tenants have accepted my promise for better conditions and dispersed.
I can't believe that Minsung (behind the green-shirted guy) and his mother (left) joined the revolt, too!


If my tenants can call me in the middle of the night with their emergencies, I can be the night owl, too!
From Sungai Point, Sara and I travel to 10 Isda Riverfront
Why does it have a "Poor" maintenance score? The unit's fridge, stove, and bath/shower combo are fully upgraded!
Before leaving, we each inspect and maintain one appliance. I bet it's Poor because I missed the Haunting event!


When Cirta passes away while exploring the cave, I immediately teleport there to plead Grim for Cirta's life.
Except that Grim never shows up and Cirta's body simply transforms into a gravestone.
In other news, my sister Sara phones to say she wants to move out ASAP.
Apparently, while I've been busy with landlord stuff and tassel hunting, Charlotte's crushed on my sister. Oh, the irony!


I hear that the Sulea Tiger Sanctuary can also provide a tassel. Can I find my last Marble (Eye of the Tiger) here, too?
This afternoon, I come by hoping to try looking for a tassel there.
But I've been temporarily banned ever since I got caught sneaking in Sunday night.
Maybe Charlotte can try her luck getting a tassel here?  Nope, that didn't work.



Wednesday
It's quite late Tuesday when I'm notified of a Tenant Rule Violation by, once again, the Lee household in Unit 11B.
I arrive to find poor little Yuri surrounded by piles of trash. By the time I'm done cleaning up, it's already Wednesday!
Out front, I meet Minsung's husband Amir Bailey and fine him for breaking the Trash Overload rule.
I'm surprised to learn that he's unemployed. Minsung's a stay-at-home dad so why would he marry a loser like Amir?


Chai: We became just friends on Sunday. It didn't take you long to get married and pregnant, did it?
Minsung: What was I supposed to do? After you dumped me, I learned I was pregnant and the baby needs a father.
Chai: What do you mean by "the baby needs a father."  That unemployed Amir is the father, isn't he?
Minsung: Remember we messed around once after the electrical failure.  You’re the biological father, Chai.

Chai: But you can't live like this! Nobody in your household works and your unit's always filthy. Come live with me!
Minsung: All five of us?
Chai: No, of course not! Only you, your mother, and your two kids.  Amir can continue paying the rent for Unit 11B.
I'd try convincing you to leave him, but I'm still a teen plus  my life's a little complicated right now. Anyway, let's go!


Sunja: *gives Tomarani introduction
Ratih: Chai phoned me, saying someone wants to meet me. Who are you?
Sunja: I'm Sunja Lee. You might know my son, Minsung Lee.
Ratih: OMG, Chai moved your whole household here? What about Charlotte?
Surja: Charlotte? You mean the nanny?


Charlotte: Did I miss the memo? One day, I was the center of Chai's world.
He's always out so I spent many happy hours alone with my crush, Sara.
But now the Lee family has moved in with us.
Why is (pregnant) Minsung working on Nerd Brain while I help his daughter with her toddler skills?



Thursday
Chai: Early this morning, Yuri ages up from a toddler to a child.
She had just enough time to earn the Happy Toddler trait.
Her older brother Daesung is Active, while Yuri is an Art Lover.
Daesung's teen birthday comes in 4 days. We hope he can finish scouts and 2-3 aspirations by then.


Chai: If you can't tell, my heart belongs to Minsung but Watcher insists Charlotte must be the primary spouse.
That is, Charlotte will be the mother of the next heir.  It's a bit awkward living with both her and Minsung.
Here, she suddenly blows me a kiss while I'm distracted by a Water Leak Emergency at 11C Sungai Point.

It's 7:30 am and Daesung has school from 8, so I opt to hire a contractor crew instead of fixing the issue myself.
Of course, I hire the expensive contractor crew who smoothly handles the emergency. That was easy!


Sage Morgyn proposed to my sister Sara yesterday.
He's given up his immortality so her fears of growing old alongside a forever-youthful Morgyn were unfounded.
This afternoon, she aged up, they got married, then they moved together into Unit 20 of Isda Riverfront.
The Sage must really love Sara. He left his huge Oasis Springs villa to live with her in a tiny Tomarani apartment.
Thanks to them, I now own five occupied rental units.


A little past 7 pm, Minsung goes into labor so I accompany him to the hospital where he gives birth to a boy.
Since Minsung's family all have Korean names, I suggest we give our newborn son a Korean name, too.
Watcher really wants us to name him Jaehyun, after one of her favorite NCT members.
Minsung loves the name and, just like that, I'm outnumbered.



Friday
Minsung's mother Sunja, a Tomarani Expert like Cirta had been, had been casually looking for tassels.
This morning, she swam across to Beard Beard Cave and found the 10th tassel, completing the collection.
The collection's been a team effort!  Two were bought at the Night Market and I found four more.
Cirta Choo, may her soul rest in peace, found another two.  Then, Sunja Lee found the two rare tassels at the cave.


Chai: After Daesung and Yuri leave for school, Jaehyun ages up to a toddler with the Top-Notch Infant trait.
*whispers: Watcher thought Minsung and I wouldn't have cute babies, but Jaehyun proves her so wrong!

When Charlotte blew me kisses on Wednesday, I knew I had to sort out my domestic situation.
After asking Minsung to just be friends (again), I consider all my male relatives.
My cousin Thaddeus Mistura lives at Grandpa Hiroki's Mt. Komorebi villa.
Anyway, I found Thaddeus on the day he aged up to a YA.  He and Minsung are crazy about each other!


Minsung: You left here right after we eloped and now you're phoning me already?
Thaddeus: I was wondering if you'd like to live together.
Minsung; I would dearly love that, but I can't leave Chai's place until my kids finish scouts.
Thaddeus: Bummer. I guess we're not close enough yet. *feels hurt
Minsung: Please wait until Daesung's done with scouts this weekend. I'll leave Yuri here and move back.


Minsung: Mama, do you mind? Thaddeus feels hurt because we can't live together yet.
I'm trying to make him feel loved and appreciated, and you're spoiling the atmosphere!

Chai: While reading to Jaehyun, I discover that I'm Family Oriented!  Sweet!
Minsung: While trying to heal Thaddeus's feelings of hurt and rejection. I discover that I'm Romantic!



Saturday
Minsung: Daesung and Yuri have both completed Scouts and Rambunctious Scamp.
Daesung also finished Whiz Kid and earned an A grade yesterday.
I'm going to miss little Jaehyun and, let's face it, Chai as well.
Yuri's staying here until she's an A student, but the rest of us are leaving tonight.

We're moving with my husband Thaddeus to 11B Sungai Point again.
Chai's rewarding us generously for Mama's help with the tassels and my gardening help.
It's enough that my ex Amir Bailey can find another place to live, but not in Tomarang.

Chai: Well, readers, it's just Charlotte, Jaehyun, and I now. Oh and Yuri for a few more days.
I still haven't proposed to Charlotte but I did ask her to be my girlfriend.
If only I'd known about Minsung's pregnancy before I'd asked Charlotte to move in with me.

First of all, did Minsung's new husband look at all familiar to you?
Thaddeus Mistura's father (shown below) is Ezra Moonstrider, who married Aree Mistura (the half-brother of Chai's father Surya).
Thaddeus has great traits (Loves the Outdoors, Maker, Family Oriented) and will make a great partner for Minsung.


Daesung aged up to a teen with a B in high school.
After he finished his homework, the Lee household (except for Yuri) moved back to Sungai Pont.
His second trait is Neat. Here's hoping that will help with the constant Trash Overload in their 11B unit in  the past.
By the way, while living with Chai, the Lees were very conscientious about  keeping the place clean.


This last shot shows Chai looking hawt in his new Handyperson career outfit.
I don't know the reason why, but he started his new job at Level 3.

Yes, Chai completed all of heir requirements when Minsung's mother Sunja found the 10th (and last) tassel on Friday.
Chai was never required to complete either collection, as this is a generational task rather than an individual one.
You may recall that, as a child, he started his Marble collection when his father Decha gave him five unique Marbles.
Chai found 6 out of 10 tassels and 9 out of 15 marble. I feel he's done enough to claim that task as completed.

As for Minsung, Chai (and his Watcher) are very sad about having to let Minsung go, but it was the right thing to do since he'd moved in Charlotte first.
Chai will continue pestering his cousin Thaddeus until he gets a job.  Chai helped raise Daesung and Yuri to become more self-sufficient.
Family-oriented Chai is looking forward to raising the next heir, who will no doubt arrive in the next update.

10.70: I Only Wanna Be with You


Sunday, Week 70  (early winter)
Chai: Last week turned out to be the hardest week in my life.
I met Charlotte Tan who asked to move in and I agreed, thinking she and her rare marble were my Destiny.
After breaking up with Minsung, I learn he married some loser while pregnant with my child. So I had the Lees move in with me, too.
On Thursday, Minsung gave birth to our son Jaehyun. But what to do about Charlotte?
So I hooked Minsung up with my cousin Thaddeus who convinced Minsung to leave his spouse.
When Minsung's son Daesung became a teen, the Lees moved back to Sungai Point except for his daughter Yuri.

I miss Minsung like crazy but I guess this was the best solution.
And, by the way, I completed all my heir requirements last Friday with Sunja Lee helping to complete my Tassels collection.

Charlotte: Last night, as soon as the Lees moved out, I seduced Chai into shower woohoo.
He'd asked to be just friends earlier in the week, but I talked him into become Thirst Pals.
Since my nausea this morning pretty much confirms I'm pregnant, I need to visit Prince's home.
Because I won't be able to complete my space missions for Nerd Brain once I'm in my first trimester.


Chai: My cousin Thaddeus phoned while we were at Prince's house to let me know he got a job.
But then I see him at the Flea Market hawking furniture. Is that what he meant by his new "career"?
What a relief! His profile shows that he's a Writer now! Wait, does he work on Sundays?


After trading marbles with Thad, I head toward Charlotte's mother Xuan who's working a vendor table.
This is the moment I discover that marble trading has a cooldown.
While Charlotte does upgrades for Nerd Brain at the karaoke bar,  I kill time by eating Curry and Samosas.
Well, whaddya know! I'm a Spice Hound!


Charlotte: Hey, Chai! I just found out I'm expecting!
Chai: That's great news, Charlotte!
Charlotte: Um, isn't this where you drop to one knee and propose?
Chai: Oh c'mon, marriage is so overrated, Charlotte. Plus, I'm not the marrying type.
Charlotte (to herself): Unbelievable! Chai helps Minsung marry someone else but still carries a torch for him?!


Chai: It's slightly awkward but Minsung's place is the only Sungai Point unit without a 5-star rating.
I do inspection and maintenance on the fridge, then give a toilet the bidet upgrade.
When I'm done, Unit 11B's rating rises to 5 stars.  Sweet!
And I managed to do it all without running into Minsung.



Monday
Chai: Hey, Minsung! How you doin'? Today was my first workday in the Handyperson career.
Minsung: I'm fine, thanks for asking. But why bother with that that career? You've already maxed Handiness.
Chai: Yeah, I know. And I joined the career at Level 3 so I got its Resourceful Repairer reward trait already, too.
Minsung: You called to ask me for career advice? I'm a stay-at-home dad, remember?


Chai: Um, Yuri brought home an A from grade school today and aged up to a teen.
I hope you don't mind that I gave her the Neat trait. To, you know, help with the Trash Overloads.
Minsung: You gave Daesung the same trait then convinced Mother and I to buy the Speed Cleaner reward trait. We're all set!

Chai: Yuri's a B student at high school and wants to stay here until she gets an A. Is that okay with you?
Minsung: If you don't mind her staying a little longer, I'd really appreciate it. And how's our little Jaehyun?
Chai: He's grown so much since you left! You should come for a visit.  I…I mean, Jaehyun…really misses you.


Chai: In the evening, I get a Trash Overload notification and immediately assume it's for the Lee household.
Well, well! It's instead the Linh household's first Trash Overhaul violation. They live in 11C, next door to the Lees.
I visit the Linhs, have them pay the §600 fine, make small talk with them, then return home.



Tuesday
Charlotte's learning to paint so she can help pay our household bills. I'm all for that!
When we visit the art museum, Minsung shows up, too, then helps Jaehyun master his last toddler skill, Movement.
Yuri phones with great news: she earned an A grade on her first day of high school!


Next, we meet Yuri at my sister Sara's home at 20 Isda Riverfront.
When she and Morgyn got married, I kept her marriage certificate so I could hang it in her home later.
There it is, between the scroll and the curtain.
Hey, could you tell that I fabricated the orange armchair and woodworked that loveseat and end table, too?
Looks pretty nice, if I do say so myself.


Before Yuri moves back to Sungai Point this evening, I want her to help me inspect Sara's unit.
It's good for Yuri to understand the landlord's perspective.
While we're at it, I also fully upgrade Sara's fridge.  (Not sure upgrades affect the Maintenance rating, though.)
Nice! Unit 20's Unit Rating rises to 5 stars.  I only have one remaining 4-star unit, which is next door to Sara's.

Wednesday
Minsung: This is what I should've done when I learned I was pregnant with our child! But it's not too late! Will you marry me, Chai?
Chai: Yes, of course. I only wanna be with you. But how are you proposing to me when you're already married?
Minsung: I have no idea, but you could easily convince me to leave Thaddeus. My bonds with him aren't as deep as ours.
 

Chiai: Poor Thaddeus. Have you spoken with him about this?
Minsung: Yeah, he'd been desperate to escape  his 8-sim household at the Mt. Komorebi Villa.
Chai: That sounds like Charlotte's situation.
Minsung: He likes Tomarang so he'll be stay with Mother, Daesung, and Yuri until he figures out what to do next.
Chai: Oh! So only you will be moving in with me? (Now's not the time to say I had a crush on his mother….)


Prince: When you visited on Sunday, I'd assumed your partner was the young lady Charlotte.
But this boy seated next to you is your son with the fella doing space missions now, right?
Chai: Yes, we…I…had a hard time listening to what my heart wanted, but Minsung and I are engaged now.
Prince: If you don't mind my asking, who's the young lady's baby daddy?

Chai: That would be me, sir. We are housemates and thirst pals, and we…
Prince: Enough said. The road to happiness can be filled with many potholes and detours!
Charlotte: Oh, I'm going into labor! We need to go home NOW!



Thursday
Chai: It's past midnight when an Electrical Failure occurs at 11A Sungai Point.
The power's out so it's hard to see but Minsung and I repair the fuse box, stove, fridge, radio, TV, shower, and patio mini-fridge.
By the time we're done, it's 5:30 am (it's a 12-hour event).   You're wondering why I didn't call a Contractor?
I hired an Expensive Contractor for the last Electrical Failure but they failed and the unit rating dropped.
They handled a Water Leak fine, but I think I need to handle Electrical Failures myself.


Chai: Jaehyun aged up on Tuesday night and took yesterday off from school to work on his scout badges.
He returned from his first day of school today with a B. We're all so proud of him!
His hair color? He claims that he should be allowed to dye his hair like his namesake Jaehyun of the kpop boy band NCT.
That light brown shade suits him. As long as he's responsible and treats others well, we don't care if Jae has pink hair.
Minsung: Nooooo! Don't even whisper that about pink hair!


Chai: Charlotte gave birth to twin girls yesterday evening and they aged up to infants today.
Charlotte: I gave Jing (tranquility, quiet) a Chinese name to honor my heritage.
Chai: I give Kamala (of the heart) a Thai name to honor my mixed Tomarani heritage.
Jing (left) and Kamala both have my pointy ears, but only Kamala is a spellcaster.
We'll wait to choose the heir when they're a little older.
Watcher: I lowkey want Jing to be heir since Jing and oshizu share the same ideogram.


Minsung: It's nice to finally meet you, sir.
Surya: Please call me Surya. I've heard so much about you from my son. When's the wedding?
Charlotte (to herself): The wedding?!
Minsung: Probably this weekend. Chai gets an inheritance if he gets married by next Tuesday.
Surya: Great news! And why haven't Decha and I been invited for a stayover yet?



Friday
Chai: At 6:30 am, I get word of a Haunting at 11A Sungai Point. I don't get a moment of rest with those tenants!
I decide to let Minsung handle this emergency by himself.
He's Ambitious and Materialistic yet also thoughtfu and Handy, making him well-suited for landlord work.


My parents' stayover starts at 9 am.  I find Jaehyun chatting with Decha at 9:30 am when he should already be at school! 
I can't be too mad, though, because Jaehyun was the only one who could invite Papa Decha to the stayover.
When I introduce Papa D to Kamala, he's delighted by her Thai name. I was hoping he would be!
Minsung: Um, Chai.  That's Jing. Kamala's the one with the top knot and yellow ribbon.
Decha: This one's cute, too!


Charlotte: Milli, I'm so glad we met last week at the beach behind Chai's place. I feel like I can talk to you about anything!
Milli: Yeah, and we're both Music Lovers! You're like my very favorite neighbor!
Charlotte: We might not be eeighbors for much longer. I need to move out of this place. It's so awkward living here!
Milli: But what about your babies? What if you lived with me and my family? We're right next door!
Charlotte: Really? That would be perfect: living with my bestie and next door to my babies!
Milli: Let me make sure it's okay with my family and I'll get back to you. I'm sure they'll say yes.



Saturday
Charlotte: Hey, Minsung. Thad just phoned to ask if he should date Tu Ngo. Looks like everyone's moving on.
Chai: He phoned you? But Thad and I are besties. Why didn't he phone me instead?
Charlotte: Gee, I wonder why? *rolls eyes
Minsung: I'm happy for Thaddeus but if he wants to live with that guy, he can't move him in with my kids in Unit 11B.
Watcher: Ngo has a big house in Chestnut Ridge. But just in case, let's move Thad out now so he can't take your kids with him.


Chai: At 7:30a m, there's another Electrical Failure at Sungai Point.
But this one's at Unit 11B, home of Daesung and Yuri Lee. (Minsung's mother passed away two days ago.)
Minsung and I fix this in less than two hours, then we spend all afternoon with the twins.
In the evening, I invite everyone out to the Romance Festival where Minsung and I have a heat-of-the-moment marriage.
I didn't receive that inheritance money, but who cares? Minsung and I are together at last!

Surya (whispers): Look at Minsung's slender profile! I'd always assumed he was on the chubby side.
Decha: Same here. It's that baggy cardigan he always wears. Maybe it's better for Chai that Minsung looks frumpy, though.


Milli: Where have you been, Charlotte? My parents say you're welcome to live with us.
Charlotte: I was at the Romance Festival. Chai and Minsung got married there tonight.
Milli & Charlotte: *share a moment of silence

*Collecting Marbles: The cooldown for trading marbles seems to be 2 hours, though I wasn't that focused on the time.
  When rummaging toyboxes for marbles, a sim can only rummage through two toyboxes in a row before hitting a cooldown.
  Chai lost a marble but didn't always get another in return when trading with a non-Tomarani resident.
  Don't bother trying to get marbles with a child who "Plays for Keeps"; that feature has been bugged since the pack released.

*Pregnancy tests & early age-ups: The Gen11 requirements don't allow pregnancy tests and early age-ups.
  I didn't apply those rules to Jaehyun, because he will definitely not be the next heir; we want a female heir for Gen11.
  Charlotte didn't take a pregnancy test because I couldn't decide when Gen11's no-early-age-ups rule should apply.
  From the Gen11 heir's birth or when she becomes the active heir on her YA birthday?
  I've decided to ban early age-ups for all 3 Gen11 kids from now on, since some the Gen11 requirements can be started as a teen.
  Let's pretend Jaehyun didn't have a 22-hour infancy and a five-day toddlerhood. *coughs

*Unit Rating: I know that it's raised by inspection, maintenance, and resolving maintencane or emergency events.
 I have no idea whether a fully-upgraded appliance contributes to the Unit Rating.
 But Chai provides insta-upgrades to his rental units as a bonus service.

*Getting rid of crushes: Somchai had a number of unwanted crushes which "Try to Get Over Crush" wouldn't eliminate.
  That is, Chai does the "Try to Get Over Crush" thing, gets a message that his mind is clear, but the crush persists.
  I've read that a crush can be removed using the UI Extension mod, but I'd rather not add another script mod.
  Once he was a YA, I noticed he also had a crush on Minsung's mother Sunja, which was the last straw for me.
  Since Try to Get Over Crush wasn't working for Chai, I ended using the cheat below:

  To get rid of his crush on his brother-in-law, Myles Ota, I typed into the cheat console:

*Minsung's proposal: I have no idea how Minsung autonomously proposed to Chai while still married to Thaddeus.
  It's the first time I've seen an autonomous proposal and it's not a setting I've enabled in MCCC.
  The wording of Minsung's proposal resembles that of an autonomous prom invite (It's happening!).
  There was just no keeping Chai and Minsung apart!

*Couldn't invite Decha for stayover: I spent a good rl hour on this issue.
  Whether Decha was at Chai's home or not and even when Chai visited Decha's home, Decha didn't appear as a possible guest. 
  Then, while at Decha's home, Chai brought over Jaehyun who introduced himself to both his grandpas.
  Jaehyun, but not Chai, could invite both Surya and Decha for a stayover.  Such a random issue and one I hadn't exerpeienced before.

*Excessive Rental Events:   The daily breakout of rental emergencies makes raising the infants very difficult.
  Now that Minsung also completed the 5-Star Property Owner aspiration on Saturday, I might disable the rental events.
  I wouldn't mind 2-3 emergencies a week, but Chai and Minsung spent midnight to 5:30am on one emergency Wednesday morning.
  Then got called back the next morning for another. In fact, the emergencies occur every freaking day.
  All five of Chai's rental units have 5-star ratings so it seems like a good time to disable the emergency events.
  Chai & Minsung will still periodically visit the rental units to do inspection and maintenance.

I think turning off the rental emergencies off now you've got them all up to 5 stars seems fair. They do seem overly frequent.

Haha, O Ye of Little Faith! MInsung can feel secure in Chai's love. Chai's been irresistibly drawn to Chai from the start, even in that frumpy cardigan!

Thanks for your feedback regarding the rental emergencies. Chai might have to deal with an emergency just as the infants wake up then, 5-6 hours later, return home to find the infants sleepy.
Or, be prevented from returning home before 5 am, later arriving home to a garden that can't be harvested.
Jaehyun is always brought along during emergencies. He played his 5 hours of violin for Artistic Prodigy in front of Sungai Point, lol.
Other times, he brings his homework or a school project with him.

The furniture was crafted mostly by Chai with considerable help from his sister Sara (who had no fabrication skill).
The base game woodworking table lets our sims craft furniture in only a single swatch.
LitttleMissSam's More Woodworks mod, on the other hand,adds a variety of existing furniture to the list of woodwork craftables.
Once crafted, we can avail of the original item's color swatches. Like the Comfort 8 dining room chairs come in about 15 different colors
What I dislike about about fabricated furniture is their low quality.  Yes, we can upgrade a fabricated bed's mattress firmness and massage control.
But there's nothing we can do for a fabricated living chair with a Comfort 1 rating. They are handmade and should offer palpable benefits!!!

I'm also looking forward to the next generation.  Maybe.
