I realized when I read the latest chapter that I never actually posted my comment from the previous one. How do I get so easily distracted?

RE: A Fresh Start in Tomarang
Good for you mixing potions - I take the lazy way - get one excellent and then copypasto it forever.  ;)

Those yard sales can be pretty lucrative, although I didn't realize a fish, just lying there on the table, would be an attractive offering!

The Night Market looks so cool - I wish the playability was as good as the visual - seems like a missed opportunity. I understand that they cater to low-end computers, and limit Sims and items because of that, but how cool would it be if the game could detect what your machine can do and give you more if your machine can handle it? I visualize that being a bustling area of activity, with opportunities to meet lots of new Sims, but it's (unfortunately) not like that.

Thank you for the pic of The Rock! The Boulder is fine, but The Rock is . . . well . . . The ROCK!   ;D

Congrats on the gold pool party!

RE: Joko's Love Life

Those boys are both just so cute!
It's so nice of Surya to concern himself with Wayne's love life!
Gratz on the aspiration completion and gold Potluck!
And thank you for all the little tidbits about the For Rent pack and how it works. Much appreciated!

Don't be so impressed with me!  Surya is farming satisfaction points by completing Purveyor of Potions which requires brewing five potions. LOL!
The Potion of Plentiful Needs only requires one apple, so...yeah. *winks
Like you, I was a bit disappointed that 12 of the 16 Night Market stalls aren't functional.  Still, it's quite convenient for Surya's culinary mini-challenge.
He can have various local foods/drinks at the stalls, go home and make them, then they're checked off his list.
I would've liked if the food stalls operated like City Living's, where we learned recipes from frequenting the stalls.

As for more content with higher-performance computers, I'd been playing on a 7-year old computer system until this past June.
My game stuttered and lagged, making gameplay really difficult. I was lucky to be able to afford a better gaming system, but not everyone can.
If we want more content, I guess checking out available mods would be one way to go.  I noticed yesterday that TwistedMexi has a More Rentals mod.
Honestly, I'm happy enough with "only" six rental units and max 48 sims on a residential rental lot, though.

As for Wayne the Boulder, once Surya ages Madeline Rocca up, Wayne and Madeline are on their own.
I guess I could use MCCC's Mark for Marriage feature on Madeline to see how who MCCC matches her up with. Wayne doesn't deserve her!
I'm finding the rental/tenancy system very complicated and confusing but am otherwise enjoying For Rent very much.

9.63a: Surya's Yoga Retreat

Sunday, Week 63  (late spring)
Last week was our first full week living in our new apartment in Tomarang's Morensong neighborhood.
We met and mingled with all of our neighbors, squashed an insect infestation, and hosted a gold-medal Potluck.
I made great progress with my culinary mini-challenge but wasted time matchmaching for Wayne the Boulder.
I got a crush on our neighbor Decha Trubbaya (oops!) and Joko got a crush on Genesis Diggs.
What will this week bring?  Oh, here we are in front of the ZoSul Taman Botani (botanical gardens).

Watcher did an incredibly lazy expansion of the Isda Riverfront Spa.
She simply duplicated part of the first floor (excluding the sauna area), making it the second floor.
The yoga class now takes place upstairs in a larger space.

Formerly on the back porch, the meditation class moves into the space vacated by the yoga class.
I lead two meditation classes for a change.
You can see how much roomier the spa has become.

Joko: Meanwhile, I've invited Genesis here and am wooing her in front of the spa.
You probably think this isn't a very romantic spot and, I guess, you'd be right.
But I ran out of time at the Potluck to ask her for a First Kiss and to be my girlfriend.
So we're playing catch-up here then, once we get home, I can ask her on a date.

Surya: We suddenly get an Eviction Notice out of the blue, so I quickly invite over Wijaya to pay the fine.
I swear I already paid it to his wife Shanti Friday night, but they claim we haven't paid it yet. *sighs
Decha arrives which distracts me while I'm kissing up to our landlord.
After Wijaya agrees not to evict us, I proceed to "Discuss Rule Forgiveness for Max Occupancy."
Wijaya agrees to remove the Max Occupancy rule. Once Joko moves, I might want to start a family here.
It's a two-bedroom apartment, so there's enough room for a family of four, don't you think?.

Last week, I'd remarked that my not crushing on Decha Trubbaya signaled that I was maturing.
Well, apparently not, because I've since crushed on Decha though I'm trying to get over him.
I know we can't be together, so I persuade him to temporarily become Woohoo Partners and be my first.
Then, I can let him go and forget about him.
Um, I now realize that hot tub woohoo might NOT the best way to get over someone. Help!

Monday
Surya: A Haunting in our unit at 2:30 am?  Do you see a ghost or a possessed object, Joko?
Joko: Nope.  Wijaya says we can call him anytime. Let's ask him to get rid of the ghost! *phones the landlord
Surya: Of course, a ghost appears as soon as Wijaya arrives at our front door!

Surya: As much as I like Wijaya's traditional garb, he looks hot in his handyperson outfit, too!
Joko: Focus, Surya, focus!  Why is he inspecting our kitchen appliances!? I guess we'll have to deal with the ghost
ourselves.
Surya: I couldn't convince the ghost to leave. Could you give it a go?
Joko: *successfully confronts and banishes the ghost
Oh look! The landlord sent us §107 for "helping to address the issue."  Right!

After our morning chores, we ask Mei Bunsi to host a Maintenance Day Event.
All the tenant need to clean or repair a total of five items.
(Darn, "someone" broke the hot tub last night but I immediately repaired it.)

The two of us clean 4 out of the 5 required items. Are Joko and I the only ones participating?
Hey, look! That must be the youngest tenant in our building! Yep, that's Johnny Brock!

Surya: Then, as if my day hasn't been full enough, I get a notice around 9:30 pm that I'm eating for two.
Me, pregnant!? It can't be true!
Joko: Oh no, Surya!  What are you gonna do? Lose the baby?
Surya: No, I just can't! You'll have to hold the fort here while I go on vacation until after I give birth.
Joko: Clever! You could always lie and say it's the child of our sister, Dao.

Tuesday
Surya: Thanks for coming with me to this vacation rental, but you need to go back home now.
I'd feel better if one of us was at the apartment when our current lease ends.
Joko: So, how do I explain your absence? You sat on a dirty toilet seat and got pregnant?
Surya: NO!!! Don't mention the p-word at all! If anyone asks, I'm away on a yoga retreat.  Sheesh, Joko!

Surya: Did I already tell you that I'm staying at Kin-Ship in Sulani's Ohan'ali Town?
My half-brother Porsche and Auntie Stella live in Lani St. Taz, but I'd rather not see them this week.
It feels a little strange to spend the whole day alone.
After attending a Parenting Skill class and reading a Parenting book, I'm trying to relax.
I wonder how Joko is doing in Tomarang.

Joko: This is why our neighbors can't have nice things!
Surya is right not to place on our shared patio that new grill we got from his gold Potluck event.
What do you wanna bet that grill won't get fixed until Surya returns and casts Repairio on it?

Wednesday
Joko: Surya's done a great job with his little garden!
It includes the UFO plant that he won during a space duel while we were living in Mt. Komorebi.
We're both glad he's decided not to use the other half of the backyard to teach yoga and meditation.

See that smaller tree in the middle? He grafted an Apple tree onto a Cherry tree.
When the Cherry tree matured, he downsized it one tick. We'd never tried that before.

Joko (on phone): Genesis, today's my birthday. Would you like to come over and age up with me?
Genesis: Yes, of course! I've been worried that you wouldn't wait for me.
Joko (after proposing): Let's get married right away at the Botanic Gardens!
Genesis: Now that we're married, may I move in with you? I'm living in a full house now and it's so crowded!

Joko: I bought a 4-bedroom house for the two of us in Oasis Springs, but I can't move until Surya returns.
Why don't you move there first? I can join you in our new home tomorrow night.
Genesis: Oh yes, I'll move there right now…(moves to Dusty Turf)…and I'm back!
There's lots of room in our big house, so we can you-know-what…
Watcher: Ever notice that we can "Clean" the hot springs but not the hot tub?

Thursday
Surya: Thanks for hanging out with me today.  I've been a little lonely because nobody knew except Joko.
Hiro: You are my youngest child, Surya.  Tell me who did this to you! I'm gonna tear him limb from limb! *growls
Surya: Whoa, Papa! Please calm down. It's not like that. I…I…I…
Hiro (changes subject): So, you're going to invite me for the first stayover, aren't you?
Surya: Technically, GG Akira hasn't much longer to live, so…

Surya: I'd wanted to return home after giving birth and aging the newborn up to an infant.
But I can't go straight to the hospital from the vacation rental, so I end my vacation around 8 pm.
Before I go into labor, Joko upgrades the crib with a mobile then moves to Oasis Springs.
Luckly, I give birth at the hospital without running into any of my neighbors.
Here, I introduce my son Somchai ("Chai" for short) to his GGG Akira and his Grandpa Hiro.

We've already reached the limit of 25 images, but the week's not over yet!
I'd like to close with a shot of Papa feeding Chai.  See that mounted fish behind him?
That's the Luna Fish Papa spent weeks trying to catch.
He mounted it to give me as a housewarming gift, so I've given it pride of place!

*Recipe categories: I erred while categorizing Surya's Recipe List.
Besides Halo-Halo and Bibingka, Khao Niao Mamuang (Mango Sticky Rice) is also a sweet.
So it should be 27 meals, 11 beverages, and 3 sweets.

*The Kin-Ship rental: While seeking a rental, I found two possible lots in Sulani.
Kin-Ship (because it was completely unfurnished) and Tangled Flat (furnished but unoccupied).
I chose Kin-Ship because it's a slightly larger lot, though I had to re-furnish it myself.

Goodness! Suriya's not making great decisions. With that long list of food to make he needs to focus. Who's the poor sapkind person that will help with Chai?
I'm waiting to see what part of this a requirement and which is Watchers desire to capture Dechi's genes, lol.
I've got the home chef pack but I really haven't got to grips with it yet. I'm hoping my next challenge will encourage that.

At the end of this latest update, Surya only had three more dishes left. Haha, poor sap?
I literally laughed out loud at your comment about whether Decha's "participation" is a requirement or a genetics grab.

I really love the Home Chef Hustle pack! It is so much easier, though, to make prepped ingredients and food stall merchandise when our sim has the Fresh Chef trait.
For once, I don't mind that Surya's stayover guests (Akira and Hiro) are constantly hungry.
They can eat the overflow from Surya's culinary mini-challenge without depriving the toddler of meals. I think you will love the HCH pack!

9.63b: Decha's Dilemmai

Friday, Week 63 (late spring)
Surya: So much has happened so far this week!
On Sunday, I resigned myself to forgetting Decha and asked him for one last woohoo.
I discovered Monday that I was pregnant, which I hid from everyone (except Joko) by taking a vacay in Sulani.
Joko moved out to live with his wife Genesis right before I went into labor at home on Thursday.
And now I'm raising my son Chai (short for "Somchai") with my stayover guests: Papa Hiro and Great-Grandpa Akira.

Akira: Tell me, favorite great-grandson of mine, what's the story with Somchai?
Surya: Um,, during a yoga retreat, I decided to have a science baby with a yoga pal of mine.
Akira: No, no, not the fake story you've been telling all your friends and neighbors. I mean, the REAL story.
Surya: I had good-bye woohoo with a neighbor. I care for him a lot, but he can't be with me.

Akira: Does he know about Chai? Did you get pregnant on purpose? Did the good-bye woohoo help any?
Surya: No, no, and no. I checked first and Risky Woohoo for teens is only 5%. I thought it was safe!

Akira: Do you realize how lucky you are, little Chai?
You have three caregivers waiting on your beck and call!
When you're in need, Hiro and I race to reach you first!
I'm so glad that I've lived long enough to meet you, Chai!  So worth it!

Surya: With so much love and care, Chai is ready to age up around 1 pm.
Not even 24 hours as an infant!
A Top-Notch Infant, that is!

And here is toddler Chai.  He's Inquisitive.
Just think, he's the first Mistura ever born in Tomarang!
If I remain a teen, I can't raise Chai as he deserves, so I age up right after him.
Besides being Outgoing and Good, I gain the Generous trait.

Surya: GG!  Papa!  C'mon, hurry up! The Sulea Tiger Sanctuary is right over here!
Akira (grumbles): I didn't come here to traipse all over Tomarang.
I only want to spend my handful of remaining days with Surya and Chai.
Hiro: *clears throat
Akira: Oh and with you, obviously, my favorite… (checks family tree)… grandson!

Surya: When I arrive in front of the Sulea Tiger Sanctuary, I'm asked for support so I donate §50.
With a little toddler, I don't feel ready to adopt a tiger, too!
Then, I choose to visit the sanctuary.
Oh no! Sorry, guys! I didn't know visiting the Tiger Sanctuary would be a one-sim rabbithole!

Surya: To make up for dragging them both to the sanctuary, I later treat them to drinks at The Screaming Gecko.
Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Decha headed upstairs. What's he doing here? And why's he wearing a tux?

Surya: Why didn't you ever tell me you played piano here?
Decha: You never asked, Surya. I'm actually unemployed but I play here most nights.
Surya: Well now I know why you never arrived at my Potluck last week.

Decha: Okay, I quit playing early tonight. What did you want to talk with me about?
Surya: I don't quite know how to tell you.  Would you have time to come over?
There's someone who would really like to meet you, Decha.

Decha: Who's this little fella waddling out the front door of your crib?
Chai: Papa!!!
Decha: You are an adorable little boy! Surya, is he ours?
Why didn't you tell me earlier?

Surya: I was afraid to share the news of my pregnancy with you.
It's not like you're free to move in with us and help raise our son…
Decha (to himself): Wow! I could start a new life with Surya and Chai.
But no, I'm a Loyal sim! I can't simply walk out on my wife Kanlaya.

Surya: I've just started reading to Chai when a Trash Overload emergency breaks out.
I stop reading to deal with the 12-hour emergency immediately.
The worst thing about these emergencies is that, until it's resolved, we can't access Build/Buy mode.
Fortunately, I'd already switched Chai's infant things for toddler things soon after he aged up.

Surya: GG! What do you think you're doing!? Stop that NOW!
Akira: But I'm just trying to make Decha feel welcome…
Surya: Find some other way, GG. I'm the only one touching Decha's body around here!
Akira: Sorry about that, Decha. You heard the boss.

Saturday
Surya: I became a young adult yesterday and you'll be an adult in two days.
So I want you to have this Potion of Rejuvenation.  Will you drink it?  For me and Chai?
I'd like you to be around while Chai is growing up.
Decha (to himself): How can I refuse when Surya brings up our son Chai?
Now I'm the same age as Surya but four weeks younger than my wife…

Decha: I am Ambitious yet unemployed. Meanwhile, Surya joins the Culinary career today to get the Fresh Chef trait.
His daily task requires cooking 3 meals so he asks me to Cook Together with him. I've never tried this before.
I mean, I love Cooking but I don't know how much of it I've actually done.

Decha: Just look how in sync we are!  Being around Surya is really great!
I wonder if I should join a career, too.
Surya (to himself): I'm deliberately not asking Decha to pursue his dream career.
I selfishly want him to be free during Chai's toddler days.

Decha: I'm seeing a lot of new sides to Surya. I'd never pegged him as a family sim.
But he discovered that he's Family Oriented earlier while potty training Chai.
What a devoted parent! And what about me?

Surya's great-grandfather and father haven't said a word to me about my situation.
I'm sure they're both hoping that I'll choose Surya and Chai.
But I do appreciate that they're not trying to guilt me into a decision.
Surya also hasn't asked me to leave Kanlaya. That's what he wants, isn't it?

My wife isn't interested in starting a family yet.
I'd never really imagined myself as a father, but now I have a son!
Look how clever and handsome Chai is!

What loyalties do I owe to Surya and Chai?

And let's not forget what got me into this whole predicament in the first place!
The chemistry between Surya and I is off the charts!
Try as I might, I can't resist him.

This is such a difficult decision, but I need to make my choice soon.
I can't live with the guilt of straddling two households.
And what if Kanlaya suddenly changes her mind and wants a family?
I need to make the right choice. Once I choose, there's no going back…

Surya: While Decha endlessly ruminates, some of us lead lives of action.
I wait until a little past 10 pm, then turn on the TV in the shared lounge.
This immediately triggers a Rule Violation and, this time, I've successfully broken a Tenant Rule!
I'm now a Respected Resident with the Neighborly trait!

The last time I broke a Tenant Rule, Landlord Shanti insisted I never paid the fine.
She notifies me that she's coming to discuss the fine but never shows up.
I'd hate to get evicted, so I visit Wijaya and pay the §250 fine to him.

Back home, my house guests and I celebrate the end of an eventual week over a platter of Banh Cuon.
And finishing my Banh Cuon serving completes my culinary mini-challenge!

Surya: To complete Neighborhood Confidante, I still need to influence the lives of sims six more times.
Otherwise, I only have two more tasks remaining, which have yet to be revealed.
The big question, of course, is Decha's decision.
Please, merciful Fates, let Decha choose Chai and me!

Notes
*Surya and his great-grandpa Akira: Surya got a crush on Akira, which the game allows.
It was so annoying that Surya got the Dreamy Eyes sentiment and was Very Flirty with Akira.
Finally, I used MCCC's Add Relationship feature to make Surya the grandson of Akira.
By the time Surya ran into Decha at The Screaming Gecko, he had eyes only for Decha. Sheesh!

*Decha likes Cooking: Surya learned this using the "Ask about hobbies and skills" social on Decha.

Little Chai is adorable. How can Decha possibly not choose Surya and Chai . . . challenge requirements dictate, that's how . . . so here's hoping Surya's challenge requirements put them together, not keep them apart.
Hmmm . . . what can I expect here . . . would Watcher have chosen such an appealing Sim as Decha if a future wasn't meant to be?  Surely not  . . . so I'm going to bet (hope furiously) that Decha will choose Surya and Chai. But if not . . . at the very least, Decha will be around to help raise Chai and won't abandon them.

I dont know...Suriya surely doesn't watch to be a home-wrecker...and he's got plenty of support from his family. If Decha abandons his first love, Suriya will never be able to be sure that he won't be abandoned in turn.

Decha & his wife Kanlaya were the only sims I added to Tomarang--the other tenants in Morenseng were moved in by briefly playing the respective landlords.
I'd thought the couple might provide possible Gen10 spouse options, but Surya met Decha at the Night Market then Decha kept coming around.
But yes, at the very least, Surya & Decha will remain neighbors.

Not everyone's first love is their forever love. Also, it's The Sims! My sims love whoever they wish, as long as no pear shapes are involved. :D

9.64: Decha's Nightly Outings

Sunday, Week 64  (early summer)
Surya: How time flies! Only two weeks ago, My twin Joko and I moved here to Morensong in Tomarang.
Last week, we both aged up to young adults then our lives took opposite directions.
Joko married his crush Genesis and moved with her to a luxurious house in Oasis Springs.
On the other hand, I accidientally  had a child with my neighbor Decha, raising our son Chai as a single parent.
Though I completed my culinary mini-challenge, I'm still trying to earn the Fresh Chef trait though it's not required.
Here are Chai and I in front of the local Fish Market.

I had a big scare early this morning. While tending my garden around 5 am, I realize Chai is nowhere on the lot.
Finally, a neighbor tells he saw Chai standing alone  over by the Night Market.
As I'm on my way to find Chai, I see Decha pick him up and start walking back here.
I wonder if Chai autonomously asked Decha to get him or if Decha went looking for him on his own.

Back in the apartment, they both autonomously head for the toddler potty.
Not sure what will happen next, I tell Chai to ask Decha for help with potty training.
In fact, Decha always responds right away to any of Chai's requests.
I don't get why he doesn't prefer to sit down while reading to Chai, though.

Last night, I met a single guy named Santiago Hauer.  Mean, Loyal, and Childish.
I urged him to pursue his dream career and talked up Alicia Moonstrider (who's Evil).
When I check this morning, he's married to Madeline Rocca!
And Wayne the Boulder's married Elsie Bailey from Del Sol Valley (she was at Joko's party).
And they're all squeezed into Wayne's one-bedroom apartment! Thanks, MCCC!?!?!

I invite the four to the Flea Market and advise them on their dream jobs and expanding their family.
And that's how I complete my Neighborhood Confidante aspiration. Just then, I get a phone call from Decha...

Surya: What perfect timing! I was hoping to talk to you this afternoon about…
Decha: I know. I'm ready, Surya. I want to build a family with you and our son Chai.
Surya: I've never mentioned that marrying me comes with two special conditions.
Decha: And they are?
Surya: You need to replace one of your personality traits with the Nosy trait and become a Seeker of Secrets.
Decha: Hmmm, let me show you my answer instead of telling you.

Decha: Gah, freaking wait staff are ruining the moment!  You won't be getting any tips from us today, y'hear.
Anyway, as I was saying, Surya, will you marry me?
Surya: Yes, yes, yes!  And if Chai were here, he would say yes, too!
Surya (to himself): I've wanted to ask him to move in as soon as he agreed to leave his spouse.
But I can't ask him until our date is over, I guess.

Surya: OMG, Decha!  You're a mindreader!  Of course, I want the three of us to live together!
This is the best day of my life, Decha! I can't wait to share the news with Chai!
Watcher: I love how proactive Decha is being. I used MCCC to have him propose to Surya.
But asking Surya on a date and asking to live together were both Decha's own initiatives.

Monday
Decha: I moved in with Surya and our son last night.
I drank the Re-Traiting Potion Surya gave me, replacing my Ambitious trait for Nosy.
After that, we tried for another baby.
This afternoon, we exchange our vows at ZoSul Taman Botani. Marrying Surya feels so right!

I'm not crazy about becoming a Seeker of Secrets, so I want to be done with it quickly.
Tonight, I spy on our stayover guests, then break into the Brokes' apartment to snoop around.
My favorite part is rummaging through toy boxes for marbles (though marble theft isn't part of snooping).
Why couldn't my spouse requirement have been to complete the Marble collection? *sighs

As for eavesdropping, I've had the most luck in front of the Night Market's Souvenir Shop.
There are always locals sitting at that small table chatting.
Eavesdropping at folks' front door is harder because it's difficult to tell when folks are home or not.
Took me a few days to realize that I couldn't just click on the door.
To see the Eavesdrop option, I have to actually visit the place (by going through a loading screen). Duh!

Tuesday
Decha: I'm trying to introduce myself to all the other tenants.
When Surya throws his next social event here, I can hopefully eavesdrop on everyone chatting.

Two of the neighbors I met this morning visit our apartment and leave piles of trash in our kitchen.
As a result, we're accused of violating the No Trash Overload Tenant Rule. How bogus!
Wijaya comes over immediately to discuss our violation, so I pay him  the fine in person.
(Uh, thanks for photobombing, GG!)
On the bright side, Wijaya agrees to expand our apartment for a 55% rent increase.

This Seeker of Secrets business is taking up all of my time, but I want to get it over and done with ASAP.
Not only must I be apart from my beloved family but I'm also ruining my reputation with my malicious activities.
Hoping to do something nice for a change, I ask our neighbor Preet Brock to host a Charity Gift Drive.
This is such an easy event! I simply toss a frog in the mailbox!

Wednesday
Surya: I so regret asking Decha to become a Seeker of Secrets!
That aspiration's really sucking the romance out of what little time we have together.
Now, he roams around until all hours of every night, snooping and eavesdropping.
He's met a lot of locals hanging out at the Night Market and only comes home after it closes at 2 am. *sighs

Decha: I have no idea what getting a Tiger Inspector Badge has to do with my aspiration.
But I sneak in, get caught by a security guard, and rant to the guard about being a tiger enthusiast.
After the guard releases me, I find a Tiger Inspector Badge on my way out.
Not sure exactly how the Badge works, but it doesn't matter. I'll never use it!

Decha: Sorry for staying out so late again. I'm sure I can finish Seeker of Secrets by tomorrow night!
Surya: What a relief, Decha!  I've hated your late nights but I love this new kitchen?  Where did it come from?
Decha: I negotiated with Wijaya to raise our rent from §129 to §200 if he'd expand our apartment.
Surya: It's perfect!  We have another bedroom and bathroom plus this fabulous kitchen! I've missed cooking with you!

Thursday
Surya: I give birth to twin girls early this morning.
We sent Papa Hiro home last night but asked GG to stay and meet our newborns.
He passes away only an hour after we'd introduced him to our new household additions.
Chai has been grieving GG's death all day.

By the afternoon, our twins are ready to age up to toddlers.
We wanted our daughter to take pride in their mixed Thai-Indonesian heritage.
So I gave our firstborn daughter an Indonesian name, "Ratih."
And Decha gave our second daughter a Thai name, "Warissara" ("Sara" for short).
That's a bonus shot of Chai on the left. He ages up to a child tomorrow!

Decha: My Seeker of Secrets aspiration only requires two more tasks: a break-in and blackmail.
This is the second time I'm breaking into the Brokes' apartment, so I already know all their secrets.
I'd planned to blackmail Julie Broke who's not home, but I know someone else hiding the exact same secret.

Kasem Bun Ma: No, please don't tell my wife!
Decha: Unless you pay up, I'll tell her about your "Oh, Baby: A Challenge!" secret.
I'm sure Ni Bun Ma will be happy to hear you want to make babies with different partners!
Kasem: I'll pay, I'll pay!

Friday
Decha: Chai celebrates his birthday today and starts grade school on Monday.
He's already saying he wants to become a landlord when he grows up.
That's such music to my ears! I'd always dreamed of becoming a landlord.
Bu instead, I'm happily embracing my new life as a stay-at-home father to three kids.

It's not easy looking after three kids, especially after Surya leaves for work.
But I'm not finding Surya's grandparents especially helpful.
While I'm helping Chai complete his three games of chess, I notice Sara isn't home.
She wants to ask her Great-Grandma for potty help, but Karina has run outdoors past a vampire.
What kind of person makes a baby girl chase her at night in the proximity of vampires?

Saturday
Hendra (Surya's father): I love mentoring Chai in Fishing to become his second adult friend for Social Butterfly.
But why don't you invite me for a Stayover, Surya?
Surya: Since GG Akira hadn't long to live, I'd planned to ask him plus the grandparents first.
But Papa Hiro insisted on staying over first, so I had to move the grandparents to the second stayover.
Thanks to Papa Hiro, I'll be planning a third stayover so you can spend time with the girls, too.

Decha: I hate to say this about your grandparents, Surya, but they're hardly helping at all.
They arrived right before the twins' birth, but they're still only acquaintances with the twins.
Suyra: Really? Why is that?
Decha: When you're home, we can both look after the girls, so you haven't notice4.
The twins probably spend more time chasing after your grandparents than actually interacting with them.

By now, the twins and I know that--day or night--Great-Grandma Karina can be found at the patio bar.
Once, on my way to tend our garden at 6 am, I spotted her drinking cocktails at the bar. At 6 am!
They'll both help if the girls can reach them to ask them, but they rarely offer.
I think they wouldn't mind at all if we ended the stayover a day early.

Surya: Well, Papa Hendra is simply dying to stay with us.
What do you say we invite him to stay over with Papa Hiro?
I'll probably earn my Fresh Chef trait in two more days, so perhaps a 4-day stayover?
I'm quitting my CHef job as soon as I earn the Fresh Chef trait.
Decha: Great idea. After this stayover ends tomorrow morning, I'll start a new one for 6 pm when you get off work.

Notes
*Re-traiting Decha with the Nosy trait: Decha moved in with the Ambitious, Loyal, and Unflirty traits.
I used a randomizer to generate 30 numerals (1-3),intending to replace the trait that occurred most frequently.
Results: Ambitious x11, Loyal x10, and Unflirty x9. Ambitious occurred most often, so I replaced it with Nosy.
Decha's new traits are Nosy, Loyal, and Unflirty.

*Stayovers in Residential Rentals: A stayover is harder to manage in a residential rental.
Or, at least, in this one that I built. The stayover guests prefer to send time in the shared space instead of at home.
So, as soon as Kazuma/Karina complete whatever the toddler requests, they run off to the lounge or patio.

*Where's my attention: Both twins constantly alternate between this and the No Attention Left moodlets.
I'm seeing both these moodlets for the first time with Raith and Sara, making them either Angry or Sad.
Is it because they both have the "Loves Being Carried" toddler quirk?

Extra: Expanding the Apartment without Moving Out

Though Decha mentioned negotiating a rent increase with the landlord Wijaya in exchange for a unit expansion, that option doesn't actually exist in the game.
Also, the game dictates that the landlord cannot edit a rental unit while it's occupied.
That is, Surya's household would need to temporarily move so I could switch to playing the landlord who could then enlarge the unit, raise the rent, change the Tenant Agreement, and son.

But it's such a hassle to move, even temporarily, so I "cheated" to allow Surya a larger home without moving.
Please note that this method causes your sims' fridge, bookcase, and toy box to empty out, so be sure to move stuff into your sims' inventory (family or personal) in advance.
(1) First, Decha built an elevated platform to create a 2nd-floor garden space.
Then, they put all their garden plants in family inventory and fridge items in personal inventory.
(2) In Manage Worlds, I selected the lot without choosing a particular unit.
(3) The enclosed backyard is part of Surya's rental unit, so we added/furnished two rooms below the elevated garden area.
Surya's family of five now have a 3rd bedroom and 2nd bathroom.
(4) When I switched to the Landlord, Surya's Tenant Agreement had entered its Grace Period, so Wijaya could raise the rent and make any other Tenant Agreement changes.
(5) Finally, I switched back to Surya's household and re-added their garden plants to the elevated garden area.
Note: Surya's household paid to build the elevated garden area because I did that while playing Surya's household n Live mode.
The cost of adding/furnishing the two extra rooms, however, seemed to come neither from Surya's or the landlord's funds.

For comparison, here's a shot of the original apartment before Surya and his twin Joko moved in.

Here's the expanded rental unit with the two extra rooms on the left.

Finally, here's a shot of the backyard rooms with its rooftop garden.

You've probably guessed by now that playing sims in small residences is not my forte.
Yesterday morning, I woke up wondering if I could a basement. But no, I won't, haha.

I guess, as a landlord myself (3 long-term lets) I really wouldn't contemplate doing major building work with a tenant in situ, mainly because of the time the disruptions would last. But the time is not an issue in Sims. I wonder if it was a gameplay decision or it was too tricky to code.... I'm looking forward to your next gen playing landlord to the max.

Surya's 3 children with Decha are all adorable. I hope they can have a better life together when the requirements are done.

The Seeker of Secrets is quite a malicious aspiration. It could be fun with an Evil Sim or combined with Chief of Mischief. I do like the potential for breaking in or listening at the door. The desire to have babies with multiple partners was had in my game by Catarina Lynx too. Such an odd desire, lol.

Tomorang has added quite a big dimension to gameplay. I do like the pack.

I agree with you that now allowing rental unit modifications while it is occupied by a tenant is realistic.
And, I guess, it's not such a big issue when we are playing the landlord.  For Surya, moving isn't much of an option since Tomarang has only a handful of lots.
So I need Surya to stay in place until, at least, the next heir takes over.

As for the requirements, Surya completed all but one of his requirements when Decha completed his Seeker of Secrets aspiration.
The remaining one involves hosting/attending a weekly event and I'm still deciding how many weeks that requirement should last.
For two seasons (6 weeks) or until the next heir moves out?

The Seeker of Secrets aspiration would also work well with StrangerVille's Covert Operator branch and its ability to blackmail sims.
When Decha moved in, Chai was a toddler then Surya got pregnant again.
Decha and I might have enjoyed this aspiration a little more but in his family circumstances, he couldn't finish his aspiration fast enough, lol.
The only Mean interaction was Blackmail but, by the time Decha had completed the aspiration, his reputation had tanked to Neutral.

I'm also really enjoying the For Rent pack. My biggest wish, though, was that it had more lots.
Nothing stops us from build residential rentals in other towns, but that won't offer the culture flair of Tomarang.
Mt. Komorebi's also an Asian town but it's soooo cold!

And you're a real-life landlord!?
You will have to do the 5-Star Property Owner aspiration in your next challenge and show us wannabes how it's done!

9.65: Family Life

Sunday, Week 65  (mid-summer)
Surya: Last Sunday, only my toddler Chai and I lived together but now look at our household!
Decha moved in Sunday, we wed Monday, then our twins arrived Wednesday.
My beloved Great-Grandpa Akira passed away hours after the twins' birth. He is much missed.
I neglected my  Wellness activities last week to focus on earning the Fresh Chef trait.
Decha tended the garden, looked after the kids, AND completed the Seeker of Secrets aspiration!
From L to R: me holding Ratih, Somchai (Chai, the next heir),  and Decha holding Warissara (Sara)

There it is in the master bedroom!  I have two options for dealing with the book:
(1) Destroy it but possibly suffer the consequences myself for doing so; or
(2) Mail it away and transfer the curse to another unsuspecting soul.
I choose to destroy it. Then, uncharacteristically, I stumble and almost fall on my way out of the room.

I thought I'd put out the fire but I return to Chai's room to find firefighters hosing it down.
The fire destroyed half of Chai's room, Ratih's bed in the next room, and even Surya's vendor table outside.
Because I continue to trip and stumble for the rest of the day, I check to see if I've acquired the Clumsy trait.
Nope.  Is this my punishment for having destroyed the Cursed Book? (I confess the fire was terrifying!)

Monday
Surya: Isn't this a wonderful sight? All four caregivers on standby to fulfill the toddler twins' every request.
Hiro: You forgot to mention that you locked Hendra and I indoors so we can't chill at the lounge, patio, or pool.
Decha: You did what, Surya?
Surya:  Eh, it's only until I earn my level 8 Chef promotion tonight. It's great our guests can't run off on our toddlers!

Surya: Our upstairs neighbor, Sam Bunsi, is certainly an odd one.
He comes into our unit and helps himself to a serving of whatever's available, then cleans up after himself.
In fact, he washes his plates in our kitchen whenever he eats on the patio, too.
It's not like he lives that far from the patio! His apartment's right above us! Does the shared area need a sink?

Decha: I buy a new marble at the Night Market tonight.
My Marble collection now consists of seven out of the 15 total marbles.
Since Chai will be carrying on my dream of becoming a landlord, I want to give him my Marbles.
I'm sure he'll love taking over my collection!

Tuesday
Decha: Unexpectedly, Chai isn't thrilled at receiving a half-complete Marble collection.
When he opens the gift box and looks inside, he makes the most horrible face.
Fine! I'll keep my seven marbles and Chai can have my four duplicates!

Chai: Can you believe my old man, Craig?
I've been hoping for a brand-new laptop but he gives me a jar of cheap marbles!
Then he says I don't deserve his half-finished collection and gives me these four leftovers instead.
HEY! I'm supposed to get a new marble as a reward for Playing for Keeps, but I end up with the same four Marbles!

Time to make three grade-school friends and become a Social Butterfly.
Among my three new friends, the cutest is Ainsley.
But Grandpa Hiro says she's his daughter, which makes her my Auntie Ainsley.
Now I need a new fifth guest for my upcoming Slumber Party!

Wednesday
Decha: Ssshhhh! I squished a rocket ship kit into the space next to the hot tub.
Then, Surya and Papa Hiro helped me build it.
I only have to make 5 quick space missions for Nerd Brain. Our landlords won't even notice!

Surya: During our last Trash Overload emergency, I was at work.
It was impossible for Decha to deal with all the trash in time, so we had to pay a fine.
Today, we both get on it immediately and resolve the emergency in time. Phew!
You know, this lot and especially our unit sure have frequent emergencies!

Surya: Our apartment complex is so wholesome!
Look at Preet Brock bonding with his step-daughter Julie while they keep fit on the treadmills!
By the way, I earned the Fresh Chef trait Monday night and quit my job right away.
It's so nice being home all day with Decha and the children!

Hiro: Our Watcher's so mean! Look how she's pushed the bar against the wall so we can't mix drinks!
Surya: That's not fair! I was just starting to enjoy mixing drinks!
Decha: Watcher says you're the reason the bar got moved. From now on, it can only be used during social events!
Hiro: Watcher's right, Surya. You have a young family. You can't be wasting hours at the bar every day.
Surya (pouts): Right, whatever.

Thursday
Decha: The twins age up to children early this morning. They're both so pretty!
Outgoing Chai aged up six days ago. He's still a B student and today will be his fourth day of grade school.
Ratih is the first Mistura with the Child of the Village trait, whereas Sara is a Perfectionist.
The girls don't start school until tomorrow, so they can spend today on earning scouting badges.

Decha: Today's the last day of Hiro and Hendra's stayover.
While Chai's at school, we spend the afternoon at the fishing spot by the Fish Market.
Surya: It was a great idea to confine my papas indoors for the first few days of their stayover.
Hiro: Looking back, I agree. The twins are BFFs with Hendra and I but remained acquaintances with my parents.

Surya: Papa Hendra encourages Decha and I to complete the Bodybuilder aspiration to become Long-Lived.
So, when Chai comes home an A student (!), we all head to the gym.
Chai plays his violin for Artistic Prodigy while the girls work on their school projects.
But all our fellow tenants show up at the gym for some reason, so the girls meet each of them instead.
Hiro: Girls, be sure to avoid that lady in the green shorts! She's a vicious sim and never to be trusted!

Sara: Why are we watching the TV Season Premiere here instead of in our lounge?
Surya: We have a No Loud Noise Tenant Rule from 10pm-6am, so I asked our Founder if we could watch it here.
Chai: Why is Founder Prince's house so spacious and awesome, while we live in a cramped apartment?
Decha: Every Mistura heir has their own destiny, Chai. When you grow up, you needn't live in an apartment.

Prince: I'm very pleased to meet you, too, Chai. Tell me, what generation are you?
Chai: When I get older, I'll be the Gen10 heir.
Prince: Ten generations of Misturas? Wow, how time flies. Be sure to keep in touch, okay?

Friday
Decha: A little jog while all three kids are at school. What a good life!
Surya had planned to host a Potluck this week, but tonight's Spice Festival and tomorrow's the Slumber Party.
I'll go check on our neighbors to see if anyone can host a Maintenance Day.

Surya: After the kids are back from school, we complete the Maintenance Day event as a family.
At the Spice Festival, only Decha passes the Spicy Competition, but was a Spice Hound before I met him.
You'd think my culinary mini-challenge would've made me a Spice Hound, but it didn't.
Maybe if we get the kids started early, they'll be Chopstick Savvy Spice Hounds as teens. Dream on, right?

Saturday
Chai: Papa D tells me he studied a lot to become a landlord though he's a stay-at-home dad now instead.
To prove my worth, he challenges me to earn §10k by selling beverages before I age up to a teen.
I wanted to go local so I start out selling Sugarcane Juice but, dude, it's only §60 each at 300% markup.
So I switch to Iced Tea which goes for §160 a glass. My teen birthday's in six days so I know I got this!
I have to end my sales early because of the slumber party but I still earn §960 today.

Chai: Because of the No Loud Noise rule, Papa D chooses ZoSul Taman Botani as our party venue.
(Can't we do something about that Tenant Rule?)
Watcher prepares a special TV viewing area but we never get a TV-related party goal.
Because we're at a park?

This is Kala Ember. She's a Proper sim as well as my new bestie and Bracelet Buddy.
She's not as pretty as my Auntie Ainsley, but I chose Kala anyway since we're classmates.
Also because, you know how it is, who wants to be Bracelet Buds with a parent or sibling?
Hey, don't get me wrong! I love my family!

Wow, our slumber party earns a gold medal before we even have a chance to sleep!
My Charisma shoots up two levels to Level 7.  Sweet!
Well, we might as well head home now. The girls want to earn their last badge before Sunday's meeting.
And I got BEEEG plans for tomorrow!

Notes
*Surya's last task: I'm going to call his event-related task complete after six consecutive weeks.
He will thus complete all his requirements but will continue to do the events while in the active household.
Does that seem fair to you?

*Treading water: We are now basically treading water until Chai moves out on his own.
His teen birthday's next Friday after which he'll stay home for no more than another week to skill up and learn magic.

*Chai's entrepreneurial challenge: Chai will need funds later to buy rental properties, so he's starting out now.
At §60 a glass, §10k worth of Sugarcane Juice would be 167 glasses, but only 68 glasses of Iced Tea.
The SNBank mod was recently updated so I've re-installed it again to keep Chai's earnings separate.
Its Direct Deposit feature now counts income from the Home Chef Hustle food stand!
Having Chai do an entrepreneurial mini-challenge is a good way (for both Chai and me) to pass the time until his teen birthday!

The decision on the weekly events seems fair and its a good idea to set Chai a mini challenge. Being unhappy with gifts can be so random in Sims, he needs to learn the true value of gifts.
The twins, of course, are lovely.
So, as a tenant, you can add to the communal area - a rocket! Do you get the funds back when it's sold? And can you sell communal items that you, as tenant, didn't place? Could your landlord sell the rocket and pocket the funds? Oh, it does get complicated.

I'm so grateful for your feedback on Surya's weekly community/neighborhood event requirement!
It's not like "we" will forget so I'd like to regarding Surya's generation as finished, yet I don't want to seem like I'm taking the easy way out.
The four events (Pool Party, Neighborhood Potluck, Maintenance Dday, and Gift Charity Drive) are all quite easy to pull off.

Yes, Surya's household (just Surya for short) can pay out of their own pockets to add to both their own unit as well as the shared area.
Items they buy can be moved in and out of their unit-specific family inventory. The rocket ship is in their family inventory atm, but they'll sell it after Chai's done with it, the proceeds going to Surya's household funds.
As for selling things in the shared space, Surya has only ever sold off shared amenities that they'd purchased themselves.
At one point, they'd added that buffet table, a wastebasket, and trash bin to the patio.  Later, we deleted them all, then switched to the Landlord so they'd come out of his pocket instead.

Anyway, I don't think Surya selling off shared amenities provided by the landlord is a good idea.
It would be like shooting the shared space in the foot.  Haha, what a lousy metaphor!
As for the landlord, I bet he could come over and edit the lot just as Surya is doing. BUT, if he visits in Live mode then switches to Build mode, any edits will affect his household funds.

I had a longer explanation which I'd like to shorten to the following:
(1) Accessing the lot from Manage World by clicking the Build icon: the modifications seem to be free for both tenant and landlord, but the personal contents of the occupant's storage items (fridge, bookcase, toy box, but not sticky storage boxes) will disappear.
(2) While playing the active household: If we switch Surya from Live to Build mode to make edits, any sales/expenses affect Surya's household funds.
(3) While playing the landlord: If we visit Surya's lot while playing the landlord then switch from Live to Build mode, any income/expenses affect the landlord's household funds.

I'm looking forward to playing Chai as a landlord to see what the rental system is like from the landlord's perspective.
I'm really loving the For Rent pack and the world of Tomarang.
