Poor Hiro, torn between his desire to earn enough to give all his kids a solid financial start and actually spend time with them while he can. I bet the kids value the latter more so he's choosing the right path.

Congrats to all the teens, securing their loves. I'm glad you enjoyed Prom, full of drama and hormones. It sometimes seems like a bit of a slog.

The children are good looking.  I am looking forward to their teen time  :)

Hiro thanks you for your moral support.  As his Watcher, I've decided that the whole household can now pitch in on making money since Hiro's completed his requirements.
Previous teen heirs have earned enough to move out on their own and buy a home, so the current teens can make some effort, too. :D
I don't blame Hiro about losing interest in the vendor table.  The household's too large for me to help him tend it properly.  Maybe everyone can just garden or others can tend the table?
Haha, the Prom is always a bit of a slog and I resent how the event pushes me to ship all my teens so quickly.
But I also wanted to give them some time in the spotlight since they will fade into background more as the twins Joko/Surya get older.

I've been delaying to look at the For Rent, keeping it disabled since the day I downloaded it. I can't wait to visit the world and build some rental apartments there!

@Auranaris

Lol, you are not behind on this story at all.  I completed my NSB challenge in March, and this is a new creative challenge that I started in May.
Its founder was one of the Gen11 kids of my Not So Berry Challenge.

How have you been?  What have you been up to?
Warmest wishes to you on a fantastic 2024! <3

8.59: Movin' Out, Movin' On

Sunday, Week 59  (mid-winter)
Hiro: Last week, our teens (Porsche, Dao, and Aree) started high school in Copperdale.
On Tuesday, I completed my remaining heir requirement so I'm now free to live how I please!
On Thursday, our toddler twins (Joko and the next heir Surya) aged up to children.
I'd wanted to spend all day skiing in Kiyomatsu on Saturday, but the teens all had Prom please.
From L to R: Surya, Porsche, Dao, Hendra & me, Dao's twin Aree, and Surya's twin Joko.

Porsche: This is ridiculous!  I've been trying to weed this one plant for hours now.
Aree actually maxed his Gardening skill while weeding this same plant earlier this morning.
I've gained one level so far. Watcher, a little help, please?
Watcher: *does the shift-click cheat to mulch the weed

'
Aree: Where're you rushing off to, Dao?
Dao: Papa suggested I take a Parenting skill class at Britechester.
It's surely because I learn skills most quickly!
Aree (to himself): Definitely nothing to do with Dao always asking for advice.
Papa's had Dao either volunteer or take skill classes all weekend.

Surya (in front): If only our siblings weren't always late coming home!
Joko: I know, right? If only they'd come straight home after Prom!
Surya: Yeah, we could've earned our last badge and skipped today's scout meeting!
Joko: Only one more drawing left for that badge.  We'll be done soon!

Monday
Hiro: Grandpa Akira, I invited you here so we could discuss the future of…
Hendra: Dao, why aren't you at school?
Dao: I accidentally hit the wrong button and graduated early on Saturday. Can I have this house?
Hiro: You'll be marrying Kai and moving to his family's fancy-schmancy penthouse in San Myshuno, Dao.

Akira: Since Aree was your initial choice of heir, will this house eventually be his?
Hiro: Yes, that's right. Joko and Surya will be moving out as teens..
Hendra and I think that Porsche should move into my old Sulani home.
Akira: With Lalisa and her new family? Isn't Porsche getting the short end of the stick…
Hiro: Pfft! If Porsche's wife has twins or triplets, Lalisa will move out in a flash!
Akira: What a devious plan! I love it!

Porsche: You're graduating from high school early? What about Prom this week?
Aree: I checked Ezra's profile and he's still my Prom Date, so we're good!
Porsche: Because you have max Romance?
So if I invited Hollie to Prom again, I could graduate early, too.

Surya: I wanna become a Social Butterfly but it's way too cold to go out!
Let's try and make friends with three school mates by chatting online!
Joko: Oh yeah, chatting from the comfort of our warm and comfy bedroom!
Surya: Well, that didn't take long at all! Good thing we'd already made 2 adult friends!

Tuesday
Dao: I'm glad Papa and I had that talk yesterday. It's given me new goals in life.
Instead of constantly asking for advice, I'm ensuring I'll earn 3 character values on age up.
Why? Because I want to be the first to become a young adult, marry, move out, and have kids!
My fathers really like these new goals and are giving me loads of encouragement.

Aree: Huh, Mama ignores us for two weeks then suddenly wants to go to GeekCon with me?
That "Cancel" response isn't snarky enough!
Where's my "I don't think so" button?
Watcher: I'd never noticed before how much Aree resembles his mother.

Hiro: I've been Long-Lived since Sulani, so Hendra also wants to complete the Bodybuilder aspiration.
Perhaps Hendra's right and we should move somewhere warmer when we're older.
Maybe we could stay to help Aree with his babies before moving out?
Something to think about for the future anyway. I don't love skiing enough to stay here forever!

Porsche: Yesterday, I invited Hollie over to invite her to Prom only to discover I had no Prom socials.
I worried about that until this morning, when I notice I could create a Promposal again.
Her body language seems excited about my Promposal but what's with her halfhearted verbal reply?
Is Hollie still upset over what happened with Margaret at Prom last week?

Wednesday
Dao: I'd planned to age up with Kai this Friday, which would be a week before my actual birthday.
But the temptation to ask my fathers for advice is so great, I decide to age up this morning.
Kai blows out his candles first and gains the Romantic trait.
As a young adult, I gain the Creative trait. And when I propose to Kai, I gain the Loyal trait.

Dao: I don't mind at all that Kai and I got engaged and eloped in the kitchen.
Next, Kai and I try for baby and I get pregnant on our first try.
Then, I move in with Kai and his mother at their Uptown penthouse in San Myshuno.
Kai's household is quite wealthy, so Papa only gave me a small dowry.

Hiro: Today's Winterfest so the twins have the day off from school.
But they'd rather practice riding their bikes than go skiing today, so we've come to Moonwood Mills.
It's freezing outside so we can't "Go Fishing." But with Level 10 Fishing, we can "Angle for a Big Catch."
(The twins are fine on their own. Hendra and I taught them to ride for 5 hrs for Playtime Captain yesterday.)

Surya: I'm not sure why, but I take four hours longer than Joko to learn to ride a bike.  Four hours!!!
Joko: I’m ready to go home now, are you?
Surya: Yeah, let's tell Papa Hiro we want to go home and work on our school projects for tomorrow.
Hiro: Yet another day without a Luna Fish. *sighs heavily

Thursday
Porsche: The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of moving back to tropical Sulani!
As soon as school's out, I invite her over so we can age up together.
And now that we're married and Hollie's pregnant, it's time to go visit Mama Lalisa.

Lalisa: Thanks for visiting me. I've really missed you kids!
And I'm overjoyed to hear, Porsche, that you've missed me so much that you want to move back in with me.
Porsche: Yes and did I mention that I got married this morning? Meet my wife, Hollie.
Since you're so big-hearted, Mama, I know you'll welcome Hollie into your household, too!
Hiro (to himself): Mission accomplished, practically.

Friday
Hendra: Things turned out quite well with the Sulani kids' moving expenses, Hiro.
Hiro: Yes, they did. I was surprised to learn that Kai's household was so wealthy.
I ended up sending off Dao and Porsche with only §25,000 each. They didn't even need that much!
Hendra: I think you can take a well-deserved break now.
Hiro: Yes, we only need to garden and authentic the occasional artifact from the Artifacts Association.
Hendra: I couldn't interest you in another child, could I?
Hiro: Um, no? Hey, we need to go prepare snacks for tonight's Slumber Party!

Hiro: Why are you lurking at our front gate just as Joko and Surya's slumber party's about to begin?
I bet you never threw a slumber party for Porsche, Dao, and Aree, did you?
Lalisa: I just…
Hiro: I don't want to hear about it. Get lost before the twins' guest start arriving.  And don't ever come back!

Surya: We have party goals to play games together and watch TV, but how are we gonna do them?
Joko: Look! Watcher just pulled a humongous TV out of family inventory!
Hiro (sighs): They could've played Don't Wake the Llama, Watcher. Now they'll be bugging us to get a TV!
Watcher: I'm not sure yet about the twins, but you and Hendra certainly deserve a big TV.

Surya: I exchange friendship bracelets with my vegetarian classmate Madeline Rocca.
Joko does the same with Bailey Mistura (a distant cousin?), who loves the outdoors same as Joko.

Surya: Here I am ready to sleep after telling three stories from my sleeping bag.
Not sure where this sleepwear came from, it's pretty embarrassing.
I mean, a durag when my hairstyle needs no protecting?

When we end our slumber party with a gold medal, my Charisma shoots up three levels.
Wow, Charisma 8!
(I hope Aree appreciates that we chose Friday for our slumber party so he could go to Prom tomorrow!)

Saturday
Ezra: Last week's Prom was so hectic. It's nice with just the two of us.
Aree: Dao got married and moved to San Myshuno, then Porsche got married and moved back to Sulani.
Papa says our Mt. Komorebi villa is mine.  Someday, I hope you'll consider it your home, too, Ezra.
Ezra: Are you proposing to me, Aree?
Aree: No, of course not.

Aree: Now I'm proposing to you. Will you marry me, Ezra, and raise a family together with me?
Ezra: I'd been hoping you'd ask me! I'd been worried about us since you hadn't contacted me for a week.
Aree: Our home's been a bit crazy with two marriages and a slumber party, but you're always on my mind.
My young adult birthday's next Friday, but let's age up together a few days earlier.
Ezra: Let's get together soon to talk about that. I'm ready to move in with you whenever you want.

Of course, Ezra is voted as Prom Royalty for a second consecutive week.
Nobody can pull off that crown like Ezra!
I'm glad Ezra didn't initiate the after-party tonight. I have plans to take him somewhere nice next week.

Notes
*Smaller household: What a relief to play a household of "only" five sims!
Porsche and Dao are both spares, so aging them up early doesn't effect Surya's heir requirements at all.
Except that the smaller household means Joko and Surya will get more of the spotlight.

*Weeds: Aree then Porsche spent hours trying to get rid of a single weed, gaining 2-3 levels in a day.
Saturday morning, Hiro and Hendra went to tend the garden and instantly weeded the entire garden.
Was there a weed glitch that's been fixed or are Hiro & Hendra simply better gardeners?

Congrats to Dao & Porsche on their marriages, new homes & impending parenthood. Nice to see the oust-the-spoyse project begun.

Joko and Surya are doing well too.

I'm getting the impossible to weed bug too, most Sim days but only on sheltered plants. The outdoor ones don't seem to suffer. Handy if you want to max gardening but otherwise a bit of a pain!

The other thing I've had is not being able to Split from Household. They do the phone thing and then just drop it. I have to restart the game to do it. Ask to Join Household works OK...

Ah well, there's worse bugs to have...

Oddly, Hiro and Hendra can weed any plant quickly just fine these past two sim-days.
Good to know that the bug is restricted to sheltered plants, although Hiro's entire garden is sheltered.
In fact, I directed Hendra to weed the garden Monday morning and the weed vanished while Hendra was still in the kitchen but on his way to the garden out back.
I'll have to see if Aree can weed properly now. Will let you know.

Things worked out well for Hiro, with the Sulani kids not needing to buy new homes of their own. *winks
Of course, we're never sure about the financial status of future spouses, but Kai Charm was a lucky choice.

I vaguely recall having trouble splitting the household by phone in a previous generation.
Lately, I use the "Ask to Join Household" social but handle other moves using Manage Households.
Manage Households was a must for Porsche after he asked Lalisa to join her household.
I didn't want to move Hollie into the active household temporarily nor play Lalisa's household so Porsche could invite Hollie to move in.
So, I used Manage Households for the sake of speed and convenience.

A new pack always introduces new bugs.  Fix those existing bugs before releasing another pack, EA!

Congrats on the weddings and move-outs, and of course also for the Gold Slumber Party!
Looking forward to Aree and Ezra's upcoming wedding.

Bummer about the elusive Luna Fish, but I'm still holding out hope on that.

The gold-medal slumber party is not bad, except for the Tell Stories from a Sleeping Bag task.
With 2 child hosts, that goes quickly but then they needed to tell 3 stories each for the Slumber Party Animal aspiration.
What a slog!
Oddly, Surya was getting credit from telling stories from a dining chair.. Not complaining.

I'm being a lazy Watcher and not letting my sims have formal weddings.
Dao/Kai and Porsche/Hollie simply got engaged then eloped.
I briefly considered having a wedding for Aree & Ezra, but then came to my senses.
I might be super generous, though, and let the couple travel to a wedding arch somewhere to tie the knot, lol.
The My Wedding Stroies events are too time-consuming and buggy. *sighs

Hendra got a phone call about the Luna Fish from his  cousin living in Tomarang.
Hiro's got his hopes up again!

8.60a: Visiting Tomarang

Sunday, Week 60  (late winter)
Hiro: Last week, our household shrunk from seven sims to five sims!
Dao and Porsche married their high school sweethearts and moved out.
Dao's living in San Myshuno with Kai, their twins, and his mother.
Porsched moved with Hollie to our Sulani house with hope that Lalisa moves out soon.
The twins' birthday is on Thursday but they've run out of things to do.
From L to R: Surya, Aree, Hend & me, and Joko.

Hiro: I'd wanted to spend today in Kiyomatsu, enjoying winter sports.
But the twins prefer to stay home.
Since their birthday's in four days, they want to work on their character values today.
Cypress

Shanti: Why are we fishing, dear?
Wijaya: You know how my cousin Hendra's husband, Hiro, hasn't been able to catch a Luna Fish?
Well, I found this 2nd fishing spot in Moonwood Mill while we were gathering map info for Watcher.
Shanti: So you thought it'd be cool to text Hendra that you caught a Luna Fish?
Wijaya: Yeah, but we started with zero Fishing skill, so it's taking us too long.
I'll just text Hendra the location info, then he and Hiro can come here themselves!
Shanti: I'm so glad Hendra's coming for a visit! I can't wait to meet his family!

Hiro: I can't believe I've been fishing at the wrong spot all this time!
Thank your cousin for me, Hendra, and tell him I said I owe him big time!
We'll go to Moonwood Mill first thing tomorrow morning!
Hendra: Writing excuse notes for the twins is a great idea!

Monday
Hiro: Of course, it's cloudy and freezing when we arrive in Moonwood Mill this morning.
We donate Dr. June's Weather Control Machine to The Moonwood Mill Library then upgrade it.
Using the machine, we change today's forecast to Clear Skies, and the weather to Warm.
Even after waiting an hour or so, we still can only Angle for a Big Catch.

Surya: This is super boring! We're only Fishing 4 so we can't Angle for a Big Catch!
Joko: We might as well ride around on our bicycles, hey?
Surya: Yeah, might as well.

Hiro: It's 11 am when I catch a Luna Fish at last!!
What a satisfying feeling to finally catch every single fish in our simverse!
Lucky for me, Hendra, your cousins were sent to Moonwood Mill for mapping!
Otherwise, I'd never have known about this second fishing spot in Moonwood Mill!

Surya: Tartosa's a great place but the weather's still cold here!
Joko: Well, at least we get to fish here, y'know? Lunch was strange, though.
Surya: I know! We had Sweet & Sour Eggplant at the stand, but Papa cooks it so much better!
Hiro: Well, in the evening, we'll have an early dinner in Sulani. You'll both love it!

Akira: This restaurant is worse than before you bought it, Hiro!
Hiro: Yeah, at first, there were wait staff anda bartender but no host and no chef.
Now, after I bought this restaurant and hired staff, no employees show up at all!
Akira: You tried it without mods and custom content, too, didn't you?
Hiro: Of course, but heck if I'm going to share a screenshot of me bald! Let's go back to Tartosa!

Ezra: Thank you so much for not expecting me to simply elope in your front yard!
Aree: Absolutely not! You deserve more than this but our Watcher is allergic to wedding ceremonies.
Ezra: This is a beautiful venue! And…may I ask you a big favor? May I move in today, though we don't age up until Friday?
I don't want to tell our future children that their mother was a C student in high school…
Aree: And, of course, you will be moving in with me today, right?

At Garden of Olives, Tartosa
Joko: We've waited for two hours but no host and no chefs!
Surya: Poor Ezra fell asleep waiting! Can we go somewhere else for dinner?

At Villa Bovine, Willow Creek
Akira: Pfft, the same problem here.  I do believe restaurants are broken in our simverse, Hiro!
Hiro: No, it can't be!t
Olivia: No way! Y'all never invite me anywhere but tonight every single restaurants is broken?!

Tuesday
Wijaya: Cousin Hendra, long time no see! We were expecting you this morning.  Meet my wife Shanti.
Hendra: Nice to meet you, Shanti.  We had to wait until the boys got back from school.
Wijaya: These are all your sons, Hendra? Goodness, you've been busy!
Hendra: Haha, no, only the little Allow me to introduce my husband, Hiro.

Wijaya: Sorry for the cramped living area! We don't usually have so many guests at once!
We could've bought a larger house but we love this one's central location.
Shanti: Yes, this house is located at  at the heart of Morensong!

Shanti: There's a playground nearby, right next to the Taka Soi 15 apartments.
Maybe you boys would like to go play?
Hendra: Actually, our boys will be teens soon and I thought they might like moving to Tomarang.
Wijaya: Oh, we recently bought a residential rental lot. Would you like to see it?

Wijaya: It has three rental units: one downstairs and two upstairs.
I can't set the same rent for the two second-floor units..
But the first-floor apartment is §126/day and the two upstairs ones should be §144/day.
Hiro: Why do you have three rental units instead of four?

Shanti: The apartments seem rather small, so we've provided a lot of shared amenities.
This indoor shared space has a TV, a game table, easels, a chess table, and an adjoining mini-gym.
Surya: Wow! There's even a popcorn machine!

Wijaya: There's also a large patio with a pool and grilling area.
Joko: This would be a great place to throw parties! Um, family parties, that is!

Surya: What do you think, Joko? I really like this place!
Joko: Me, too! And if we get homesick, we can go visit Uncle wijaya and Auntie Shanti!
Surya: I'm so glad you're coming with me, Joko!
Joko: We're going to have such an exciting life in Tomarang!

Surya: And this first-floor apartment is perfect for us!
It's the only one with an enclosed backyard.
Joko: Perfect for a little garden and you could even hold classes here.
Surya: Exactly!

Surya: Please let us move into one of Uncle Wijaya's apartment!
That first-floor apatment is just right for Joko and me!
Hiro: Hendra and I love the idea that his cousin will be your landlord.
But what about the rent?
Surya: Pffft, it's only §126/day. If worse comes to worst, we can breed Whirlyflower Frogs at §160 each!
Hiro: I see you have it all figured out already, but don't forget you'll have to pay for utilities, too.
But alright. We'll ask Wijaya and Shanti to hold that apartment for you until next week.
Surya & Joko: Yaaaayyy!

Hiro: Hey, everybody, get ready to leave right now for the Sulani Beach Restaurant!
Hendra: I thought all the restaurants are unstaffed.
Hiro: Well, some kind soul replied to Watcher's whiny post on Reddit.
Look! Watcher had to uncheck the "Opt out of fame" setting and now the restaurant staff are back!

Karina: Hiro, my darling son, you haven't invited me out since Selvadorada. What's the big occasion?
Hiro: Didn't you hear?  Your mother Olivia passed away this morning.
I so regret that we couldn't take her out for a nice dinner last night!

Surya: Oh GG, please don't be so sad!
Akira: But I'm all alone now. Well, sure, I live with my youngest son and his family but…
Surya (to himself): Should I take GG with me to Tomarang? Maybe Joko and I could share a room?
I better talk to my fathers first. We'll need Uncle Wijaya's permission, too.

Wednesday
Surya: Our actual birthday is tomorrow, but we're allowed to age up today after school.
Aree's birthday comes on Friday and he wants to age up a day early with Ezra, too.

Surya: Great-Grandpa says Joko takes after Papa Hiro while I look most like Papa Hendra.
What do you think?
Joko now Loves the Outdoors and is also Loyal. Besides being Good, I am also a Foodie.
Akira: You get that Foodie personality from me, boi!

Ezra: I appreciate you mentoring me and giving me a new wardrobe, Papa Hendr,a but why am I so busy?
Hendra: What do you mean?
Ezra: Well, I thought I'd simply move in, earn an A grade, age up, then pop out a couple of Aree's babies.
Hendra: You definitely need to earn satisfaction, Ezra. When you're pregnant, you'll thank me for your Steel Bladder!
Also, please time your pregnancy so you give birth soon after Surya & Joko move out, okay?
Ezra: Um, I'll try. Don't let Aree hear you, though, or he'll insist we need to "practice"!

Lots
*Chee-Wit Chee-Waa Kanto (20x15): "Tomarang House" by cosylee.
The original lot was a 1-bedroom/1-bathroom starter home for §18,900.
I replaced it with this 3-bedroom/1-bathroom home so Wijaya & Shanti can have at least two kids.
*Taka Soi 15 (20x20): "Taka Soi 15" by wafl.
The original lot was a bare two-unit residential rental with the landlord living on the second floor.
It's been replaced by these colorful, peranakan style 4-unit apartments. No shared amenities, though.

Sims
I wanted to place a married couple in Tomarang as relatives of Hendra (who is Javanese), so I chose the two sims below.
The below sims are not originally created as Javanese sims, but they look Javanese so I simply renamed them, hehe.
I tweaked their wardrobes and renamed them both.
*"Cute Malaysian Guy" by SagiSunan. A YA who I renamed from Megat Mahmud to Wijaya Haryo.
Traits: Proper, Good, Family Oriented; Big Happy Family.
*"Lovely Filipina Lady" by SagiSunan.  A YA who I renamed from Perlita Ramos to Shanti Haryo.
Traits: Neat, Foodie, Family Oriented; Master Chef.

Notes
*Ro Kaya Rockside (40x30): I converted this empty lot into Ro Kaya Apartments.
Obviously, this was my first attempt at building a lot of this kind and it was time-consuming.
I went a bit overboard with shared amenities; all the outdoor space had to form a single room so it could be "Shared."
Surya and Joko deserve to live in a moderately nice, spacious apartment, but I didn't want their rent to be too high.
Being a tenant will no doubt be more fun than being a landlord.

*Fount of Tomarani Knowledge: Surya is very attached to his Great-Grandpa Akira.
I'm toying with the idea of Akira moving with the teens so I'd have an elder to complete the new Fount of Tomarani Knowledge aspiration.
I have a feeling that it will be easier when the heir is a tenant rather than a landlord.

*Fixing my broken restaurants: A deeply grateful shoutout to usagibunnie on Reddit for taking the time to teach me the workaround for fixing my restaurants.
I spent several frustrated days troubleshooting my restaurants and would never have thought of unchecking the "Opt out of fame" setting!

Three big wins!
1 - Luna Fish!! Yay! I'm so glad Hiro was able to catch one.
2 - Restaurants working! Yay! I never would have thought of the fame setting either - it's crazy what sometimes is at the core of bug.
3 - Your first apartment building! Yay! I think you did a great job - the rooms are a good size and the shared areas are really nice - I'm excited to see the events they boys have in the shared spaces.

Great update, Watcher!

Thank you so much for pointing out the highlights of the update!
Thank you, too, for patiently chatting with me on Discord the past few days while I whined and moaned about my broken restaurants!
Despite all the amenities in the share spaces, the rent for all three units is very reasonable.
That's great for the boys but not that profitable for the landlord. The landlord earns $414 ($126+144+144) - 150 ($50 tax x3 units) = $364/day.
$364/day times 7 days = $2548/week.  I wonder if that's enough for the Haryos to pay their own weekly bills.
As you know, I was so sleepy last night, I barely managed to finishing proofing my update before posting it.
In fact, I omitted two images so I'm sharing them with you and Granny here. (They've already been added to the update.)

Missing image #3 shows Wijaya and Shanti fishing at Moonwood Mill while I had them checking the town and its lots.
The shot is actually from the save I was using to screenshot and write up my latest posts on the Neighborhood Maps thread (Moonwood Mill, Copperdale, and Tomarang).

Image #10: Aree and Ezra are gonna kill me for omitting this one of their marriage.
It's a coincidence that their formal outfits seem to match.

Wow, that week was hard work for you, Watcher! Well done for all the achievements and I'm looking forward to your Tomerang adventures. A great start with the houses.
The update only spanned four days but, you're right, it was a lot of hard work!
For the restaurants, I tried restarting:
*My Mishmash save without mods/cc;
*My Mishmash save with a different household, both with and without mods/cc; and
*A new save with a newly-created househokd, both with and without mods.

Building the apartments was fun. Obviously, we need to take different approaches to building when playing a tenant sim or a landlord sim.
Is Gabby still actively renting out her beach shacks?  She seems to already have a lot on her plate...

Gabby gave up the Landlord business when she moved out of the Beach Huts. I think it would be 2 very different experiences, living on-site or off-site. So really the new pack gives 3 new plays - those 2 plus as tenants. I think as tenants is the least stressful. I'd like to have another go as a landlord but only when my Sim has nothing else to achieve.

My initial plan for Surya (Gen9 heir) was for him to start out as a tenant then end up as a property owner.
But i later changed my mind about that because it seemed too busy.
So Surya will only experience the tenant life and his heir will become a landlord.
That's my current idea for the 10th generation Mistura heir, anyway.
Splitting the gameplay into two generations would allow me to more fully explore the new pack's gameplay.

Looking forward to your next landlord sim!

9.60b: Working on Wellness

Thursday, Week 60, Year 5  (late winter)
Surya: Joko and I were born in late autumn, so we've never explored snowy Wakaba much.
What a shock to learn that we live right next to a lake! Must be nice when the weather's warm.

Earlier this week, Papa Hiro finally caught a Luna Fish, thanks to a tip from Papa Hendra's relatives.
Later that same day, Aree and Ezra got married in Tartosa then Ezra moved in with us.
On Tuesday, we visited Tomarang for the first time. Joko and I decided we want to move there.
Finally, Joko and I became teens Wednesday evening.
From L to R:  Brother Aree, my twin Joko, Papas Hendra & Hiro, me, and Aree's fiance Ezra

Joko and I are excited to return from our first day of high school as A students.
When we get phone calls offering early graduation, we both accept right away.
On the other hand, Ezra never had the option to graduate early.
But when he and Aree become YAs today, he learns that he graduated with honors. Way to go, bruh!

I want to work as a Self-Care Specialist and today I learn a thing or two about teaching yoga.
My first public yoga class at Aham Ashram Yoga Studio draws four students.
Aree, Ezra, Joko, and an unknown townie. The class fee is §110 per participant.
But Aree, Ezra, and Joko don't pay, so I only earn §110.  That's when I send my family home.

Next, I try a private class and, when Grandma Karina shows up, I invite her to join as well.
Terrible decision!
Grandma Karina argues with two other participants about which mat to use.
Those two leave and Grandma never joins the class (that's her doing push-ups). Frustrated, I end the class early.
From now on, non-household family members aren't welcome in my classes, either!

I look around the Yoga Studio for potential participants and notice two of them look blue. Aliens?
They're upstairs freezing to death from meditating outdoors, so I send them both home.
This Yoga Studio needs to relocate to a warmer locale!
Would they be interested in a Tomarang branch?

Finally, I teach a decent-sized yoga class with four participants.
Part of becoming a Self-Care Specialist requires that I earn §5k through Wellness activities.
Tonight, I spend all evening at the spa but earn only §550.
Hopefully, I can figure out the best way to make a living with wellness.

Friday
This morning, I catch Papa practicing bar drinks.
He explains that we're gonna need an excellent mixologist for all those parties we plan to throw.
Um, we hadn't really planned on throwing family-friendly parties, but…okay.
I can understand how our Papas would want to visit warm Tomarang, especially Papa Hendra.

After teaching a yoga class at the Yoga Studio, I bop over to the Perfect Balance Spa.
I'm not very comfortable giving massages but I hear that clients tip their masseurs, so…
First, I give a Stone Massage to some random dude who comes while I'm tending a table.
It's the priciest massage at §300, but my client doesn't tip me.

Looking over the next area, I see that my customer actually works as a reflexologist at this spa!
I learn he's Adriel Charm, son of Grandma Karina's sister Marla.
That makes him Papa Hiro's cousin and my….I offer him a massage because why not?

The second time, I give him a §180 Deep Tissue Massage but no tip the second time, either.
I'll need a Regular Customer, but Adriel got flirty after the 2nd massage, so it won't be him!

At this point, I notice I've lost my Glimmerstone so I have Joko take me to the Magical Realm.
While asking Sage Morgyn to teach me a potion recipe, I come up with a new plan.
Why not Sage Morgyn as my Regular Customer? It only requires giving him 10 Wellness services.
Just then, I crush hard on Sage Morgyn.  I'll have to get over it!

There's no time like the present. I whip out my portable massage table in the Mischief Sage's room.
Sage Morgyn doesn't seem like the sporty type, but I offer him a §230 Sports Massage anyway.
I wonder why I'm not getting tipped?
Do I need to be gentler?  Should I be wearing a skimpy Wellness outfit?

Saturday
GG seems so lonely since his wife died, so I suggest a new friend for him.
Madeline Rocca is my bracelet buddy and would (probably) make a good friend.
I need to meet older sims, though. I can't be introducing my GG to only teenagers, right?

Joko asks me to go with him to the gym so he can make progress with his Bodybuilder aspiration.
Surprisingly, Uncle Porsche appears out of nowhere and starts mentoring me.
At first, I think he's a Fitness Instructor but then remember that he's a stay-at-home dad.
Maybe when I'm older, I can ask him to pursue his dream job.

The "Become a Spa Regular" task only counts Wellness services I perform at a spa.
So it's off to Aham Ashram Yoga Studio to teach another yoga class.
I have yet to have a full class because sims want to use the same mat instead of going to a free one.
One sim really enjoys today's class and thanks me. That's a first for me! Feels great!

Back home, I've invited Sage Morgyn over to spend the rest of the day here.
For now, I've converted our Japanese-style room into a massage space.
I give Sage Morgyn two massages and ask him for magical training in between.
On second thought, I should be doing this at a spa, right?

Sage Morgyn is such a good sport!
He pays me for the massages that I need to give him.
And then he mentors me in magic for free.
In case you're wondering, I'm over my crush on Sage Morgyn.
We are good friends now and I hope we become besties soon.

Now that I'm an Acolyte Spellcaster, I want to duel with three other wizards.
After defeating Aree and Ezra, I hope to duel Papa Hendra but don't see him anywhere.
I text him to ask that he meet me in the front courtyard.

Our fathers arrive looking sheepish and as wrinkled as two prunes.
It's fine. I only need to defeat Papa Hendra in a magic duel.
Done!

Watcher's so hyped about watching the midnight countdown with us.
Usually, she can't keep us away from the TV.
But, for some reason, none of us want to watch the New Year's Eve countdown.
Watcher: Arrrggh!  Look at them all ignoring the TV! Whyyyy?

Watcher quickly creates a club and sets "Watch TV" as the only preferred club activity.
By the time we all look at the TV, though, the countdown is long over.
Someone switches to the Cooking channel, so we watch that for a bit.
Watcher: We don't usually get to watch the countdown! *sobs

Well, anyway, Happy New Year! May 2024 be a joyful and prosperous year for all of you!
Come back and join us next time, when Joko and I move to Tomarang!

Progress: End of Week 60
Residence: 2-5-1 Wakabamori, Wakaba (Mt. Komorebi)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Notes
*Self-Care Specialist: I've wanted Surya to make a living in a way I'd never tried before.
Completing this aspiration (which I've never done) grants the Self-Care Expertise reward trait.
This reward trait allows a sim to charge triple the usual price for Wellness services.
For example, a sim would pay §330 for a yoga class instead of the usual §110.
Similarly, Surya could charge §900 for a §300 Stone Massage.
Not as easy as gardening, but still a viable livelihood and one that's new to me!

*Neighborhood Confidante: I hadn't realized Surya's interactions would be limited.
As a teen, he can't discuss expanding the family or suggest pursuing a dream career.
But he can "talk up" other sim and, I believe, help fix bad relationship.
Where's Vlad? He has to be the king of bad relationships!

P.S. Sorry for the heavy focus on Wellness in this update.
As the Self-Care Specialist aspiration is new to me, I needed to figure out how and what its four tasks track.

No apology needed for the wellness focus where I'm concerned - I don't mind a parade of hunky guys in shorts and T shirts after a busy day at work!
I haven't done this aspiration either, so I'm looking forward to, once again, learning from you. 😎

I'm looking forward to Surya and Joko's Tomarang experience!
