Death & Taxes

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Nothing except death and taxes is inevitable, so don't fight it! Open your Sims' eyes to the joys of paying ridiculous taxes and the warm fuzzy feeling of your Sims meeting their demise in multiple ways.

Challenge Rules
  • Remember, the General Rules apply to all Tournament challenges. Exceptions may be noted below.
  • In CAS (no Story Mode), create 1 Young Adult Sim (any life state).
  • Your original Sim must remain alive throughout the challenge. If your original Sim dies, your score is DNF.
  • Additions to the household and moving the household may only happen in Live Mode - no using the Household Management screen.
  • No Sim or pet can be removed from the household except by death. All Urns/Tombstones must remain with the household to receive credit for unique deaths. Pet deaths do not count toward unique deaths nor do their urns/tombstones count.
  • This challenge concludes at the end of 2 Sim weeks (Week 3, Day 1, 8:00 AM).

Scoring
At Week 3 Day 1, 8:00 AM, pause your game, press F2 (Build Mode) and click the Lot Info Panel at the top left of the screen to get your lot value. Multiply this amount by your Property Tax Rate of 15%.

Now take your Household Funds and multiply by your Income Tax Rate of 37%

Taxes Paid: Total amount of Property Tax plus Income Tax

Tombstone/Urn Multiplier - TUM: Start with a TUM of 1.00. For every Tombstone/Urn in your possession from Unique Household Sim Deaths, add .2 to the TUM.

Total: Multiply your Taxes Paid by your TUM

Here's an example:

Lot Value: §104,700 X 15% = §15,705 Property Tax
Household Funds: §539,960 X 37% = §199,785 Income Tax
Total Taxes Paid: §15,705 + §199,785 = §215,490

Your household experienced 8 Unique Deaths, but you only have 7 Urns/Tombstones in your possession: 7 X .2 = 1.4
TUM: 1.00 + 1.4 = 2.4

Total: §215,490 X 2.4 = §517,176

Note: Please list your work similar to the example above when posting your score. That way, the team can double-check for accuracy.

A Few Additional Specifics:
The team does not want to edit and change the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else, we may ask affected players to redo their effort.

If you have questions and need clarifications, ask away — you can either post your questions in this thread, or if you feel a question might reveal a particular strategy you are considering, then feel free to PM the team. Choose the My Messages tab > Send Message > Send to Group (show membergroups) > Check the Challenge Board Moderator group.

The winner will be announced the Monday following the closing date below. Once the event has closed, everyone is encouraged to discuss how they approached the event, and the winner is expected to do so in detail.

I messaged Carl about the weird and tiny screenshot in the rule set to see if he can figure out what is going on. This challenge comes courtesy of @mismck who also penned the Den of Thieves challenge. That screenshot looked fine, so it's a mystery. Lol. If any of you techies have suggestions on what may be the culprit, please share. :)

The image appears to just be sized small - my software sees it as 300 wide by 229 tall, as opposed to the 800 wide by 600 tall that we are used to seeing on the forum.
My guess would be that this was a small part of the original image, and the rest was cropped out; it could be that the original image was sized down before the cropping occurred.

So - to be very clear, we're trying to earn money and kill sims creatively.  right?

Liesa Hills had an interesting time with this challenge.  It wasn't a fast challenge but it was definitely fun.

Lot Value: §87,401 X 15% = §13,110.15 Property Tax
Household Funds: §2,050,150 X 37% = §758,555.50 Income Tax
Total Taxes Paid: §13,110.15 + §758,555.50 = §771,665.65

Liesa's household experienced 12 Unique Deaths, with 12 Tombstones in her possession: 12 X .2 = 2.4
TUM: 1.00 + 2.4 = 3.4

Total: §771,665.65 X 3.4 = §2,623,663.21

Holly Harris has spread Death and paid her Taxes.

Lot Value: §71,786 X 15% = §10,767.9 Property Tax
Household Funds: §6,187,615 X 37% = §2,289,417.55 Income Tax
Total Taxes Paid: §10,767.9 + §2,289,417.55 = §2,300,185.45

The Household experienced 18 Unique Deaths, with 18 Tombstones in possession: 18 X 0.2 = 3.6
TUM: 1.00 + 3.6 = 4.6

Total: §2,300,185.45 X 4.6 = §10,580,853.07

I only had time to play about 1 Sim week but I’m pretty much out of unique deaths that I can do now anyway.

Lot value: $39,678
Household funds: $3,454,181
Taxes: 5951.7 + 1278046.97 = 1,283,998.67
12 tombstones/urns from unique deaths. TUM = 3.4

Total  = 4,365,595.478
