Help loading game, is it lost?

I restarted and I'm still having the same problem. What should I do?

Not sure if this will work using Vista, on my PC with Windows XP I have used in the past, system restore with other programs I have had problems with.
Are you able to go back to a Restore Point where the game was working fine? I don't have Sim3 installed on PC only my Mac so I have not tried it with this game.

I rung my computer manufacturer and it seems my laptop is riddled with viruses, and they are causing problems like not being able to uninstall. So tomorrow I was advised to do a factory reset.

Okay so I factory reset my PC, reinstalled Sims, and paste the old EA folder which has my save in, in to My Documents. I still have the same problem, so the game is lost forever?

Afraid so... I had a dynasty family that this happened to, and from then on, I always click save as, and save it as Wood Dynasty 2, Wood Dynasty 3... etc. That way even if you lose one save, you can go back to the other save.

I just started doing that "save as" when I started my dynasty, it has been a lifesaver.  I have lost a couple of games that I had played from the start and poof, they were gone, so I learned the hard way too.  Reading this forum saved a couple of my games that I thought I had lost.
