The Eden Family
« on: January 18, 2011, 08:24:41 PM »
When I first came to this site, my friend and fellow member, Simmerqueen, suggested that we both try to do the Immortal Dynasty. I had a read through of the rules and then read the Dreamweaver Immortal Dynasty and decided it was a great idea. I have notched up several lifetime's worth of hours on Sims 3 so sure, I was equal to the task.

I overlooked though, that apart from the very early weeks of playing, most of my playing has been horribly cheaty with mods to lessen the load. I am also used to playing on the super long age span too and it is amazing how fast the sim days fly by when you are taking it easy with your feet up thinking you have all the time in the world.

So, I failed miserably. I have learned valuable lessons that I can apply next time but I don't want to throw my present family away because I rather like them. I hope, then, that you will enjoy my meander through a pretend challenge, missing every goal in sight, and tripping over my feet at every turn.   It is not just trying to play without the mods but I have never actually had a sim age beyond YA before and never had a sim die. I hope I can do it when the time comes. :-\

So, this is my sim girl, Daisy Eden. I decided on flower names for my family.  This will be interesting because I am no gardener and if a flower is not a rose or a daisy, I am pretty much stumped as to what it is.

Daisy got plonked into Riverview, my first big mistake. Despite owning Sims 3 from when it was first released, I have never stepped foot in Riverview therefore I don't know any of the inhabitants or where any of the places are. However, at this stage I was very confident of my abilities to overcome any obstacle.

Although she spent her first night sleeping at the firestation, she soon got her own bed. I thought a good quality bed was worth the investment. Daisy had a job at the Science facility and she had also earned some money in smelting minerals and cutting gems.

Still, life was pretty spartan for Daisy.

Yay!  I'm so glad you're posting about Daisy and your attempt at the Immortal Dynasty.  I too love Daisy's eye color - such a pretty shade.  I have also had an early failed attempt at this (it's bloody hard, but so much fun!) that I will be posting up sooner or later just for chuckles.  Can't wait to read about Daisy's exploits!

I feel your pain! If I had not been prepped with Sims 1 and how demanding the child care in that was I would have drowned very quickly in sims 3. You will get used to it just keep trying. Pause the game to collect your thoughts and keep record of things. That is what I do.

Thank you all. I didn't mention, but I am loving this so much. I was getting quite jaded with Sims 3 - I had done everything and my sims were totally skilled, rich, and had nothing much to do. Starting again this way has given the game a new lease of life for me.

Daisy learned how to fish.

She raided gardens for produce.  Most of the time, she lived on fruit.
.

Not good for furthering her cooking skills but she barely had time to do anything. Looking back, these were the easy times.

I would send her to the library before work so she could study something. She woke early because she was usually in bed by about 6pm. About an hour before the work car arrived, she got to build her fun on the library computer. It worked a charm.

It wasn't long before I started to panic. She was halfway through her YA lifespan and hadn't met anyone yet.  I didn't know any of the men in Riverview. I saw Don Lothario but didn't think he would be a good catch.  Everyone she met seemed to have a significant other. It was also difficult to tell who was who.  I still don't know this guy's name but he seems keen on the vegetables.

My pick would have been her neighbour, Jon Lessen.
.

He's rather gorgeous in a 'suck-your-blood' sort of way but at this stage, I still thought I had a chance at the challenge so vampires were out.

Your Daisy is lovely. She reminds me of Scarlett Johanson.  I hope you'll keep writing your story - your first post shows a lot of flair and promise. I'll be looking forward to updates.

Thank you Fleur. I intend to keep on as long as I can, in between reading some of the wonderful stories on here (and pinching a few ideas).

Daisy was starting to build up some cash. Home comforts were still sadly lacking though.

She was about to give up on men when one of the men she had met before turned up at her door.

Tyron was already in a relationship but he still seemed quite taken with Daisy and didn't mind the odd flirt. He also looked something like 'vegetable guy' (same hair) but he stood out as unique by his footwear. He was wearing flippers.

He seemed to be interested in her and he wasn't that ugly (despite the flippers) and she wanted to get on with the baby-making.

She asked him to stay the night and he agreed. Daisy quickly sold her single bed and bought a larger variety.  This was a strictly platonic visit. They were both too tired to do anything else.

He continued to call her on the phone and call around too. Then one day when he called around, he got a little surprise.

Daisy had a little bun in that oven. Too late for him to back out now.

They got married in double quick time. Not exactly a glamorous event but efficient.

Tyron is a nice little simmie however he was my big mistake number two. He was almost totally broke - I think he brought in about $2,000; he had no skills and a three-hour a day job folding clothes at the spa. Not exactly catch of the day

Tyron looks like a cutie - the flippers would have to go though.   ;D  You sound like me - I'd do something and only afterward realize, "Oops, that might not have been the smartest move".  Well, that's how we learn!  I love your picture of Daisy fishing, and the dark one with the vampire eyes glowing is quite nice too.

Thank you all.

I should have changed the flippers but I just didn't get around to it. No time, no time.  ;D  It seems everything I do in this story causes an 'oops shouldn't have done it that way' feeling deep in my bones.  Next time I do this, I should be such an expert (maybe).

No worries! Just roll with it and everything will pan out sooner or later.  :)
