Create a Pattern and Create a World
« on: January 18, 2011, 01:11:14 PM »
I'm trying to download Create a Pattern and Create a World (mainly pattern) from the Sims 3 EA website. It will download, but not work. Is there a certain place I am supposed to save it so that it will work?
I'm not very skilled with computers and my boyfriend recently just taught me how to install CC, otherwise I would have no idea still.
So, if there is any piece of information that might help me get them to work, no matter how insignificant you might think it is, it would probably help.
Thanks!  ;D

OK, so you have downloaded the file. Have you then installed it on the computer? Once you have downloaded it, you then need to click on the downloaded file to install it. The computer will pick a default place to save the program and this is probably the best place to leave it.
What sort of problem running it are you haveing.. is it listed in your start menu when you open it?

It wont even open. I click to download the file and on the window I click save, but I dont know where to save it. I initially saved it in my Sims 3 folder and when I double clicked on one of the files, it freaked out on me and wouldn't open. It simply popped up saying that it wouldn't work.

Are you using a PC or a Mac? I know that CaW does not work on Mac. So that could be the case if not then try uninstalling and re-installing the Programs (After restarting the Computer to just make sure)

Where you save the initial downloadable file isn't really important. Usually the computer saves things in a download folder, you just click on the file in that folder and it should install to a default location.
Another thought, are you using the computer as an administrator? Not sure how to explain this correctly, but on my computer (running Vista) we have 5 different users, my husband and I are both administrators where as our kids are not and as such they have limited abilities when it come to downloading and installing new things. Perhaps that could be your problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron and am running on Windows 7... It is my personal laptop and I am the only one with an account on here, so I guess that would mean I'm the administrator. I will try again using everyone's suggestions and let you know.

Thanks for everyone's help so far!

Create a Pattern and Create a World Attempt II

Okay, so I tried again. Sorry about the delay, I'm a college student and busy at the start of the semester already!
Anyway, I downloaded it and let it save wherever it defaulted, and when it was done, I double clicked on it and a message popped up with a red X saying:

>SetupNew\setup.cpp (140)
PAPP:
PVENDOR:
PGUID:
$
@Windows Vista Service Pack 0 (6000)
IE Version: 8.0.7600.16385

This is what happened last time. I don't know what any of this means, and I dont know why it says Windows Vista, because I am running Windows 7. Can anyone help me? Or tell me what all of this means?

Sorry, I don't know what this is. I did try copying the whole thing and googling it and it seems a few people are getting the same message while trying to do different things. Also seems most of them are not running Vista but Windows 7. Unfortunately none of the answers seemed very straightforward or helpful.

I just looked this up also and found nothing helpful.  This is just a shot in the dark but can you save the file to your desktop and try installing it from safemode?
