The New EA App and Sims 3 - Store Content Missing

hello everyone,

I was wondering what you think of the new ea  app? i downloaded it and i am having problems with using it. i can play my game but when i exit out for the night and come back say the next day to play, some items are missing. it's always items i bought from the store. are any of you having this issue?

Store content not staying installed after switching to the new EA App is a known issue.

thank you! i have had to uninstall, reinstall sims 3 about 3 times now. i even uninstalled and reinstalled the ea app. but i did not uninstall one drive, so i will try that. thanks again

I have uninstalled and reinstalled this game about 5 times now between yesterday and today. I am fixing this game more than I am playing it. veery frustrating, so I think I'm going to uninstall sims 3 AND sims 4 and just not play them anymore. what a waste of time and money. and we cannot use origin anymore because ea has taken over. I tried going back to origin, but you can't download that anymore. I hope you guys aren't having the same problems i'm having!

They may have removed Origin by now. It's been reported that they fixed the issues with downloading the add-on or expansions for Sims 3. 

I'm sorry you're having problems with the game and the EA App. If you haven't, you might try asking for help on the Sims 3 Tech Board - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/bd-p/the-sims-3.

Neither the original disc version or Steam version are affected by the EA App. We're using the original disc based version and not having any problems so far with keeping game and store content installed.

i contacted ea, and a rep. gave me the link to re download the origin app so i did that, but my sims 3 store items won't load in the game. the venues are there, but inside it's a shell, for example, the casino. none of the slot machines or gambling tables are there

I was able to login to the Sims 3 Store using Firefox.  However, you might need to delete Edge and IE browser data to be able to download anything from the store's website. This is due to the Sims 3 launcher still using parts of IE to function.

Another suggestion is to use a different browser. If using Chrome or Edge, try Firefox.

If you're still seeing the shells of the venues and not the content of the venue, you might need uninstall/reinstall that venue.

For example, open up the Sims 3 launcher > Installed Content tab and look for anything related to the Casino venue and uninstall that and try to install it again.

I don't have a lot of store content installed at a time, so any time I have trouble with the store content do a little clean up and try installing the store content again.

This is what I do:

Delete the igs.bin and platform.bin files in the SigsCache folder
- \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SigsCache

Launch the game again to see if that helps. The game will regenerate these files. If not, try the tip below:

◆ For this tip, please be sure to have your store content and custom content files backed up. Deleting both files in the folder mentioned below deletes both the installed store content and custom content that is installed via the Sims 3 launcher. -- However, deleting just the missingdeps.idx file should not delete store or custom content.

Delete the missingdeps.idx file from the DCCache Folder
- \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCCache

If uncomfortable deleting the files mentioned above, save a copy of your Sims 3 folder to your desktop or usb stick for back up purposes. Then try deleting the files.

i have uninstalled and reinstalled that venue about 10 times now. and now i keep getting that the store is down at the moment. it's been down for 3 days now. i even went so far as to make copies of my sims 3 store content on my portable hard drive, and using them from there isn't helping either. so now i'm going to try playing the game "vanilla". what do you think i ought to do?

Ask for some help from someone at AHQ. Maybe they have some tips that may get the store's website working for you.

Though if the Sims3Pack files that you've downloaded from the store previously aren't installing or staying installed, you may want to ask about that too.  Let them know what you've done to troubleshoot.

it seems that playing this game has become very tedious and maybe not worth it anymore. i have played this game over 10 thousand hours and have never had the problems i am having now. i think i might just give up altogether and enjoy my big fish hidden objects game.

I feel terrible that you're having a hard time with Sims 3.  I keep checking back over at AHQ to see if there's any new tips I might be able to add to the Store Content Missing notes here. This switch over to the new app has got a lot of players frustrated.

I remember you mentioning possibly playing Vanilla? That's what I've been doing for the past few days. It's been fun to do.

However, I completely understand wanting to just drop it and find something else to play.

Hey Mrs. Flynn,

I just want to let you know that i reinstalled my game using google chrome and everything is working. the simolean casino and the artisan glassblower are both still there when i get out of the game and come back. I thank you from the bottom of my heart! i am hoping that i can continue the game i have started without any hiccups (fingers crossed).  thanks again! (huggs)

Thank you for the update.  I'm doing a test myself with store content. I took some favorite sets, venues and towns and installed them.  They seem to be staying installed and the content can be found in-game.

It has been reported that EA is looking into the problem since there is quite a few players still having problems with the store content installing and showing up in-game.
