A Little Problem with Ghosts
« on: January 18, 2011, 07:51:04 AM »
In the dynasty I am playing, I placed the urns of my deceased spouses on a pedestal in the museum. One night they came out to haunt the house and never went back. I've played 2 sims days with them hanging around the house and it disrupts the lives of those alive. I can't select the urn or the pedestal in buy/build mode (it says cannot select object in use) so I can't delete the ghosts/urns without cheating. Is there anyway I can go around it? Thanks. (:

Which options come up when you left-click them in the museum?

Only view. No mourn etc.

RJ, I ran into this problem in the Clan Douglas Dynasty as well.  One day I had another family member group up with the ghost and they went to Central Park.  At that point, I wasn't trying to get the ghost back in his urn, I just wanted to give him something to do.  When the living sim came home, I couldn't figure out how to get the ghost to come so I just left him to find his own way home.  Later that evening I checked his urn and found he was in it.  I then moved it to the family graveyard on another lot.  I kind of liked having him around, but as you say, it was disruptive to the sleep of the living sims.

Hmm I'll try to get them out of the house the next time I load the game up. Thanks!

RJ, I have absolutely no problems with with you (or anyone else) using the ResetSim cheat for ghost management in the Dynasty. Heck, I have to do it every single night for the Mans. You're pretty much forced to if you want anyone to get sleep. There's just no way around it because you can't tell the ghosts to go back into their urns.

For players who have graves/urns off lot, it's different. But, for players who want a family plot right on their lot, go for it. Put them back in their urns with ResetSim. Again, this is NOT cheating. You have no other choice other than to move the urn off property.

Ok thanks! Glad that this is not going to end my dynasty. I'll move the urns off the lot to Summerhill Springs or something (although it is now a popular venue for the Neighbourhoold Grill-a-ton). Thanks!
