What a handsome household!!!
How did Tweed end up at Prom after moving out?  Did Trent invite him to the Prom?
I'm sure you're breathing a sigh of relief, Watcher, with "only 7 sims" to manage, lol!

Out of curiosity, could you share how many total careers you plan to clear and how many you've cleared so far?
Has Gen4 will eventually be the most productive generation in that sense, since they're the largest generation?

Tweed cleared the Fast Food Employee career really quickly and then moved out to be with his mother & sister - Poppy & Pink. He was born only a few days before Trent, despite being the previous gen, so he's got a few more teen days to go. Trent was pleased to see him at the Prom as, like so many teen boys, they talked about talking to the girls without actually feeling bold enough to do it.

The Flowers have cleared 17 careers, 2 are in progress and there are 29 remaining.
The completer-finisher in me wants to complete them all but some are fairly trivial or self-fulfilling (eg Military-Covert Operator allows you to visit & play out the Strangerville mystery)
For now there are still a lot that diminish or restrict normal gameplay. I'm going to rethink the layout of the career list at the beginning of this thread to see if I can make it more accessible  :)

Thank you for clarifying your career lists!
I looked at your available careers and saw that you've already unlocked all but two careers.
What great planning, Watcher!

Flowers of the Apocalypse 4.10: Boombastic

Teme: Aunt Mallow?
Mallow: Yes?
Teme: What’s it like to be an artist?
Mallow: It’s great. I get to paint all day long and get paid for it. Do you want to be an artist?
Teme: I know I want to create things but I’m not sure what.

Orchid: Happy Birthday, Thames!
Thames: Oh Yes! Look out Ladies! Here I come!
Orchid: Whoa there, lad. You know you’re not allowed to flirt with people unless they’re your intended spouse!
Thames: But there’s so many girls out there!
Orchid: I think you’d better talk to your father.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Watcher: Congratulations, Marguerite, you’re a Master Inventor!
Marguerite: The new, greener and safer ways to provide Sims with power and water that I’ve devised will no longer pollute the environment.
Watcher: Not only that, we can finally remove the Industrial quality external wall claddings. The air here hasn’t got that bad while we’re here but it’ll be so much nicer. Plus the household can finally repeal and vote for NAPS
Marguerite: What shall I do now?
Watcher: Anything you like.
Marguerite: I noticed Umber was a bit lonely when we saw him at the picnic spot. I thought I’d move in with him.
Watcher: You can take some of the household money and get a better house built, if you like?
Marguerite: Big enough for Mallow, when she’s ready!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Mobster: You look like a fit young man, you could go far in my profession.
Thames: And what is that exactly?
Mobster: Come and see me when you’ve had your next birthday and we’ll start you off at the bottom.
Thames: Er – thanks?

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Thames: Watcher! Help!
Watcher: What’s the matter?
Thames: These people have got such boring jobs and that’s what you want me to do?
Watcher: There’s no rush. Just work out what you like doing and we’ll find a good job for you.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Thames: All you girls look…great?
Jessie (blue jacket): Cat got your tongue?
Thames: My Dad set himself on fire yesterday.
Jessie: Oh no! Was he alright?
Thames: Yes but it was really stressful and I’ve just talked to the teacher about my future and I’m just really worried and it looks like I’m going to be worried for 24 hours!
Watcher: Oh dear! And you seem to have developed a crush on Jessie!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Mallow: You’re what?
Orchid: I’m expecting a baby!
Mallow: But I thought you’d decided the 3 boys were enough?
Orchid: That close call with Reed and the fire got us thinking. Life is so precarious!
Mallow: OK – I think I’ll move down to the basement and set up a studio down there.
Orchid: I thought you liked being with the kids.
Mallow: They keep nicking my paints when they’re little – you remember! And they always seem to pick my best ones.
Orchid: Oh yes. I’ll try and keep an eye on this one.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Thames: I will relax. I will relax

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Teme: Wow! There’s a baby in there?
Orchid: Sure is! What do you want, a brother or a sister?
Teme: I can choose?
Orchid: Well, I’m not eating anything special to get one or the other so it’s going to be a surprise!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: Well, Thames, how are you today?
Thames: I’ve been meaning to tell you…I’ve got a crush on you. There! I’ve said it!
Jessie: Aw. Aren’t you sweet!
Thames: Do you like me too?
Jessie: I’m not into romance, Thames, sorry.
Thames: Ouch!

Reed: Why did the agency put the cribs in with the boys? Ah well, I guess we were all a bit surprised by 2 turning up! Alright Jasmine, that’s your bottle. Lily, you’re next! Your mother’s busy out chatting to people.

Orchid: Great to see you, Pink. Can you sign my petition to get the Water Conservation NAP repealed?
Pink: Orchid! You know we all need to save water.
Orchid: But we always forget to shower first thing and then end up being smelly all Wednesday.
Watcher: Sorry
Pink: No, I’m not signing. It’s a good reminder that we all need to be careful.
Orchid: I notice it’s not a NAP in your neighbourhood!
Pink: We have other priorities!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Orchid: Mum! You’ll sign it?
Poppy: I’d sign anything for you, sweetheart. You only have to ask.
Orchid: I love you, Mum. Come over for some of Teme’s birthday cake. He’s turned into a real loner but he’ll be happy to see his granny!

Notes

The restrictions lifted by Marguerite clearing Civil Designer-Green Technician are:
•   Sims may not use the Smog vacuum or the Meat wall.
•   May not re-cycle nor use the fabricator other than the sim attempting this lift.
•   May not use the candle maker, solar panels, wind turbines, or dew collectors.
•   May not vote on NAPs.
•   May not visit Community Space lots.
•   May not sell excess utilities.
•   Only industrial scoring décor/items may be used (items with no environmental score may be used as long as any relevant restrictions have been lifted).
•   May not use Bracing Breezes, Eco, Geothermal, Natural Light lot traits.

Regarding the decision to have Marguerite complete a distinguished degree in Physics (with hons) to leapfrog to level 8 of her career, the course did not give her any Fabrication training and so she took just as long working that up. The 1 ½ weeks of being a teen that she was at uni for would have been better spent doing other skilling. (Using the Fabricator was banned until she started her job) For future reference, I’ll only have Sims do a uni course if they’ll get at least 1 full week of study during teen years and it’s a vocational course, ie actually gives the skills needed at the higher levels.

Lily and Jasmine, without any strawberries/carrots return us to the high ratio of girl to boy flowers! They are named for lily of the valley, a plant I’ve never been successful at growing but had in my wedding bouquet, and winter jasmine which is such a welcome splash of delicate yellow flowers in the colder months.

First of all, thank you for adding that Careers completed/in progress/remaining line to your weekly progress heading.
The nerd in me loves to keep track, even though you're the one playing this challenge!

While Mallow was in college, I was wondering why she didn't take an elective course in Fabrication, learning the skill through skill classes and skill books.
Would that not have been allowed?
But that's all water under the bridge.  Congratulations, Marguerite, on a job well done!
Only one more Gen4 career to go!
(I like Orchid's hair that softer brown color rather than the blue, too.)

I was surprised by the adorable Jessie's "I'm not in romance" response.
What does that means in terms of Sexual Orientation settings? *scratches head
I guess her settings might be like this?
Both women/women left unchecked under
Romantic interest: both options unchecked
Romantically exploring: No
What a crying shame! Jessie would have fit so well into the Odrade household!

Marguerite had 3 terms at uni and not once was Fabrication offered as an elective.  It was very annoying

Jessie (Goth, would you believe? The adoptions create an interesting range) would be nice for Thames. We've established that she's a Bookworm and, judging by some of her behaviour,  a Slob which is OK. Although she's not interested in romance now, I'm not above moving her in and then changing her settings...I can't move her in until she's an adult anyway. We shall see if any other crushes develop before making a final decision but one of the boys will be the next heir. I won't be waiting for the girls to grow up!

Thames: So let me get this straight, I’m Mr Bombastic but I need to watch over my baby sisters?
Watcher: They’re toddlers now. More fun than nooboos.
Thames: Where are all the babes, tho? I need to get my flirt on!
Watcher: Look, I know you’re Romantic & I’m happy for you to go outside and meet any teens that are wandering around but you can’t “get your flirt on”. It’s not allowed!

Trent: OK, OK. Thanks, I guess.
Watcher (hunting through notes): Any ideas about a job?
Trent: Well, I was thinking that we’re all a bit fed up with only having the worst computer available… plus you've had me tinkering on the robotics station.
Watcher: Ah yes. Computer Engineer it is then!
Trent: I'd really like a soulmate...
Watcher: I saw that...but you're not bothered about "getting your flirt on"
Trent: Not particularly.
Watcher: Good

I'm so glad you always provide the details about the current generations living in the active household.
Really helps to remember who everyone is.
C'mon, Mallow! Can't you see your Watcher needs your spot!

I've had a sim earn, but never use the Meat Wall because it looks gross. Can it grow faux meat for vegetarians, too?

Father Christmas (running around): There’s not too many candles in here are there? The last place nearly went up in smoke!

Reed: I’m just going to see what Thames is up to, lying down in the middle of the street….
Trent: Mmm this food is great, especially as I never have to cook any more.
Orchid: It’s only fair that the rest of us cook – you are the only breadwinner at the moment.

Teme: The inside’s not much better.
Watcher: Yes, but if we do outside décor we can have interesting things like….oh I don’t know…maybe a wishing well….

The restrictions lifted by Mallow clearing the Painter (either branch) career are:
•   May not change Sims aspiration even if completed.
•   May not show or complete whims
•   NO reward traits may purchased until this career is cleared.
•   No mood altering objects may be activated.
•   Your Sims may not paint mood-aura paintings.
•   Handy sims may not create emotional aura items on the workbench. (Items with just a plain environment score are not considered emotional aura items)
•   Authors may not write emotional books.
•   May not use Home Studio lot trait.

Certain reward traits are still restricted by other careers, notably Entrepreneurial by Business Investor.

Having finally got the hang of using the wishing well to get promotions in my Not So Berry challenge, I’m really missing it here. Having had a break, my priorities have changed slightly.

Flowers of the Apocalypse 5.3: Road Rage
« Reply #161 on: December 11, 2022, 09:36:45 AM »
Flowers of the Apocalypse 5.3: Road Rage

Jessie: The day before I moved in, Reed had his elder birthday. Instead of celebrating with him, Orchid spent the whole day inviting over all the female young adults that they knew, finding out about them using the Observant trait and eventually picking me. Trent had had a huge crush on me when we were young teens but I wasn’t into romance then.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: Then it was Thames’ YA birthday and he got a job as a Pro Athlete. He’s already at max fitness so he just needs to work on his Charisma. While he was out at his first day of work, I moved in and got a job in the police force. I met Thames for the first time that evening. Oh yes, it's Thames that I will marry, not Trent.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: I like to be Proper about things and, even though it’s an arranged marriage, I thought a rose would be an appropriate gift. Thames isn’t Proper at all! He's more the Romantic. He held my hands and so I went in for our first kiss.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: Orchid and Reed had set up a bed for me in the attic, not wanting to assume anything. When I told them at breakfast that I was happy to continue with the arrangement, they had me agree to adopt Lily & Jessie as care dependents and then they moved out, all before I had to leave for my first day of work!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: On patrol and of course there are some angry people having a fight in the middle of the road. One Elle was particularly angry. It became apparent that my new family had seriously considered her as a spouse for Thames but then backed out when they found she’d already adopted a child. I can’t help her issues and she gets a citation for fighting.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: After work, I’m really tired but Thames never turns the romance off. I would have taken things a bit slower but well – it’s a good way to raise my need for fun!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: Getting pregnant first time was a bonus, I think. I just hope I can get a bit up my career level before this baby comes.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: Trent was thrilled – look at him. That’s Trent there. He’s totally over his crush on me which was something I’d been worrying about.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: In fact, Trent is the first to congratulate us when I accept Thames’s proposal.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: I love this shot. Note the evidence of Thames’ amazing muscles as he holds me. And the baby too, of course.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: The next day at work I get my first case assignment. Would you believe it’s a double murder? Scary stuff! I gather plenty of evidence, the analysers work like a dream and I get to issue an APB. I arrest the hot-headed young man and get a confession. All done and dusted in one day with another criminal off the streets.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Jessie: Late Saturday evening, Teme has his YA birthday and gets a job as a Floral Designer. That young man loves being outdoors so it’s the perfect job.

Notes

Elle would have been a great spouse but any child of hers that isn’t part of the original bloodline is not eligible to clear a career in the rules I’m following.

It’s a bit strange with newcomer Jessie becoming a Detective as I have to follow her to work to get the 6 solved cases that she ultimately needs to close her career. It feels like I’ve just switched families!

Although I like to stick to my random trait generation, Teme’s 3rd trait came up Romantic from his father. As Thames is already the designated father of the next gen, I couldn’t have poor Teme being lovelorn so I swapped it to Loves Outdoors.

I'm allowed the Ley Line lot trait (Doctor) so...maybe  ;)
The big question is, after the hiatus for NSB, will the female bias continue?  :D

Thames: Well done, Jessie – you were amazing.
Jessie: You were pretty amazing yourself – no running around panicking – just posing for a selfie. Wow!
Thames: Sorry about that. I just can’t stop myself! Thank you for giving me 2 wonderful sons.
Jessie: Tay and Severn

Jessie: I’m so glad the boys didn’t age up before I got home.
Teme: It would have been good if they’d waited for their dad though.
Jessie: You make a good stand-in though. Thanks for helping.

Lily: I’ll blow the candles out first and then you.
Jasmine: I just want to finish my homework.
Lily: Whatever for? We’ll only have more once we age up.
Jasmine: Oh yeah! OK – get on with it then!

Thames: Why are you standing there posing?
Teme: I’m just back from work with a promotion.
Thames: Have you got the women’s uniform on?
Teme: It’s supposed to be unisex but it’s like there’s padding in here!
