How to discover the nature of special seeds

Just to share this with you guys: whenever you find a rare seed the game let's you think you can not know which kind of seed it is until it is fully grown. Well, if you have World Adventures, this is no longer true. While having a camera in your sims inventory, click Shift+C to let the sim take a picture with it. Hover now over the planted seed when it just sprawled and you will see the name of the plant in green underneath your camera's canvas. If this hasn't added to the guide yet (at least, I wasn't able to find it) it may will add some nice hint for gardeners.

Might have to try that one Leto, thanks.  Sometimes it does not matter if I know the plant ahead of time, but I sure ended up with alot of death plants that I did not need, while trying to get money trees, lol.  That would come in handy.

Oh, that's cool!  I knew you could do that once the seeds were planted, but I didn't know that you could do that beforehand.  Thanks for sharing that.

I asume it works with all seeds, but yeah, I've find this out with the rare ones. Money, flame, life. Even the ones you find in 'nature' and don't know what you've get until it grows.

Money, flame, and life are Special Seeds, not rare seeds.  Rare seeds are bell pepper, watermelon, etc.

I've never been able to get this to work.  Do you have to pick the seeds up first, then lay them on the ground?

I believe the seed needs to be planted first, see the first post of the topic.

Which camera did you use? And in which state of maturity was the plant? I think it must be at least in the second stage after Planted.

I don't bother with the less expensive camera, because eventually I'm going to upgrade to the better one, one way or another.  And I've tried it just after I planted them.

But once they start growing, I've already got a good idea what it is simply by what the plant looks like.
